Excellent food and service. We had pizza and onion rings. The hostess was especially nice. I appreciated that she asked how our food was and thanked us for stopping by.

1st time and I am really impressed! Food was outstanding. I got 1/2 slab of ribs with garlic mash potatoes. Ribs very tender and sauce was tasty. Definitely will be back hopefully on Friday for the fish. Phyllis are server was awsome too.

We had an amazing waitress. Come to find out it was her first day. She was so great and so nice. I had my one year old with me and she loved him and was so attentive even though it was so busy! Her name was Sam! I highly recommend this restaurant and Sam as a waitress.

We went in with a group of 10 people. They had a nice round table for us. This is a huge plus for us. The waitress was excellent. She was very attentive to all of us, and we didn't have to ask twice for anything. The food was great, and the cook did a wonderful job having everything prepared at the same time, so no one had to wait to eat.
I would highly recommend this place

Horses were on the hitching post! we ate outside right where we could be by them. The trail to ride is right there. Waitstaff was super great! would go back 100%

The Fish Fry is Excellent
It's been several years since we went to the Rusty Nail for fish so we gave it another visit and we're glad we did. Located in quiet little Ringwood, their parking lot, especially on fish fry Friday, is packed, but we did find a spot. There are many dining areas inside and all were pretty full, but we opted to eat out on the back patio taking advantage of the warm weather. The patio is huge and there was only one other couple there when we sat down. A few more groups sat outside during our visit. My wife ordered the Reuben Sandwich ($13.00) and a side salad for an extra $1.50. I ordered the Friday Fish Fry Special which is all you can eat haddock, baked, beer battered, or a combo of both for $16.00. I know they have several beers on tap, but don't recall what I ordered. I do remember that a 'tall' was only $3.50 and that's a pretty good deal. It was just a short wait for our meals to come out. The Reuben is a stack of juicy, tender, tasty, thin sliced corned beef piled high an marble rye with just a bit of sauerkraut and 1000 island dressing with a side pickle. The side salad had fresh greens and veggies and my wife had the house made creamy garlic dressing which our server recommended - and it was a great dressing! My fish plate had two portions of baked fish and two beer battered and fried filets. Joining the fish was a pile of what I think were battered french fries. A super light crunchy coating over the potato fry and the inside was nice and soft. The baked fish was seasoned well, just the right amount of salt, paprika and maybe some house blend. The fried fish was just the way I like it. A very thin batter covering a thick, flaky fish. The flavor is very much like the usual cod you see at fish frys. A few dabs of melted butter and fresh lemon on each bite just made both styles of fish even better. Tarter sauce is available for those that want it. I'm a big eater and had no desire for more fish, but it is all you can eat. This has to be one of the best fish frys around.

the wait time was so short the food was so good and the staff were so nice i would definitely go there again and you should to! And we gave them candy they definitely liked it and we went to the ice cream shop and there ice cream was so good and we gave them candy as well!!

This is the best fish fry around hands down. Their potato pancakes are the best I have ever had and you can choose...baked, breaded or both. If you don't get there early though good luck. Place is always packed

Christy was our sever today and recommended the loaded filtet sandwich it was delicous and came with your choice of potatoes or onion rings. My wife ordered the chicken sandwich meal. The portions are perfect. We both had a cup of asparagus soup as well. Hearing so many good things about the food at the Rusty Nail is true. Can't wait to try their fish fry.

Stopped in here for lunch with a colleague while working in the area. Pizza was the lunch special so why not! Pizza was made fresh and came out piping hot - and DELICIOUS! Our server was very friendly and kept our drinks filled. Definitely check this place out - it's a hidden gem.

I had a Turkey club Sandwich with French fried which was which was very very good. Bartender was very personable and very friendly, But took her a while to notice that my beer needed a refill. But not a big deal. Overall a overall a very very nice experience.

Best Lake Perch Fish Fry in Mchenry County! We love coming here, but arrive early or plan on waiting for a table. It's well worth the wait.

A group of us went on Friday for the infamous fish fry that I had only heard about...it was slammed with people at 5:30 and we had about 45 mins wait for a table, but it was worth it! The staff are all so friendly and unfazed by what most would consider total chaos (aka "in the weeds"). They are quite adept at handling the crowds while smiling and making it a fun atmosphere - looking forward to our next visit!

I highly recommend The Rusty Nail. The food is excellent and the staff is top notch. We recently had a meal where there was an issue with the computer system that led to a longer than usual wait for food. The owners made sure to take care of us for the inconvenience. They were super apologetic, offered drinks on the house and left us a gift card for our next visit. They care about their customers and it shows. Stop in and you won’t regret it!

They came through for us when Cullom Knoll ran out of fish at 7pm. Rusty Nail's Friday lake perch fish fry was phenomenal, no bones at all, good cole slaw and great potato pancakes. The cod AYCE fish fry was enough food on the first plate, most people won't need a second round. Cod pieces were huge. Baked cod tasted like buttery lobster/crab. Very nice.

One thing though, the fried "cod" we received with the AYCE tasted like the oil was old, but the fried perch did not have the same rancid oil taste to it. The fried cod that arrived at the other tables after we finished eating looked different than the fried "cod" we received that tasted old. All and all, we will definitely return.

Great Friday, fish fry. Waitress beer recommendation was great. Service was excellent, and her Irish accent just added to the atmosphere. So if you like a great fish fry with potato pancakes and a beer, come on in.

It's no wonder this place was voted "Best fish fry " in McHenry County. You will be hard pressed to find a better one. Loved it!

Excellent Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Exactly what your looking for in a chicken sandwich. The Chopped Chicken Salad is top notch A#1 best in Chicagoland. Nice outdoor patio.

We had dinner on Friday night . Waited about 15 min then was seated. The place is surprisingly big . When you 1st walk in it looks small but they have two other large rooms. We came for thr Ayce fish fry. They offer baked, fried , or combo of haddock for all you can eat for $16. The perch is also offered but not ayce. The fish was delicious and not overly breaded and flavorful baked. We will be back.

I have never had Lake Perch. OMG. So good. Service and price was outstanding.
