This spot is AWESOME. Two tips: 1. Make sure you've got some time to dig. There is a LOT here. 2. Comics-wise, tell em exactly what you're looking for and they will guide you to it. And most likely, they have it. Anytime I'm in the area I will be stopping by here. Excellent shop & excellent customer service!

So this is my kind of store but it may not be for everyone. There is a shockingly huge selection of every toyline you can imagine and a huge number of comics. If you enjoy digging around piles and piles of stuff looking for treasure then this is your spot. There's are cases full to bursting as well as a great variety of vintage stuff still in box. Apparently there's more in back too! Your best bet is to go with plenty of time or come in with a specific idea of what you want. Both guys working were very helpful and knew their store well to help me find stuff. The toys are vaguely organized into different lines but there's stuff everywhere, the comics are not organized well but the guy working had a handle on what was where and helped me find a Marvel Transformers #1 at a good price. It's a bit frustrating as most stuff isn't marked with a price, I probably would have bought more if I knew the prices but I hate having to ask about everything I'm interested in. They could really use a good solid few days of cleaning, organizing, and pricing but I've come across places like this and if you are a collector then this is the place to find what you are looking for.

My 6 year old daughter's 1st comic book store! She wanted Marvel trading cards and found a complete set of Spiderman cards! What a fun experience for her :) The owner was a nice guy, gave us a fair price and even threw in a 3 ring binder for her new set. Thank you 😎👍

One of the best stores I've ever been to for 80s retro fun!

Owner has quite the store packed with a lot of childhood memories! Very friendly staff, great prices and willing to help out ! Loved our visit and left with lots of LEGO.

Feels like walking through a time machine directly to my childhood. Seeing so many transformers in box makes me feel like I'm back in 2010. The employees are fantastic, and I've gotten some great deals on figures I've been searching for for years. 10/10 have already recommended.

I've never been here but the guy that posted before me I had an issue with a shipping quote, and even if it's a valid complaint, he went to Facebook to ask a bunch of us to leave a one-star review. That's messed up so just beware of any one star reviews in the next couple days.

I've sold stuff on eBay so I'm aware you can make a couple of extra bucks with the shipping, but if you don't like it just don't buy it. Don't try to destroy someone's business over it.

Really cool place! A little inaccessible, but that's because there's so much amazing stuff! It's like walking through a toy store in the late 80s, early 90s. Very friendly staff, great stuff!

Bartertown is the best store of its kind in the area. The most amazing collection of action figures, arcana, movie posters, and everything cool under the Sun.

I've found some great gems here from toys to comics. I think they offer very reasonable prices. It's an "American Pickers" type shop for your comic and toy enthusiast. Just be prepared to roll your sleeve up and dig.

He has a ton of great stuff. Only thing is you sometimes have to dig a little because there is so much in the space (you can easily lose an hour just going down the nostalgia rabbit hole). If you're looking for a specific piece though just ask he knows where it is and his prices are pretty good fair market value or under.

Best action figure store in all of rochester

So many great finds. I found so many of my favorite toys I remembered from childhood. Prices were reasonable. Will go back for sure.

I love this place. First found it on Monroe and he has since moved to park Ave. If you are a collector of anything he probably has it somewhere. The place is literally packed to the brim with stuff so expect to spend some time digging around.

I am an avid listener of the Major Wrestling Figure Podcast and they always talk about collectible/rare toy stores on the show so I had been trying for months to find one around my area. I finally discovered Bartertown and I was not disappointed! They have basically everything a collector could ask for. My only critique is that there isn't any sports stuff (like NFL, NHL, NBA) to my knowledge when I was in there. However I don't mind that considering I was able to walk away from there with 4 extremely rare AWA Remco action figures (two of which are going to spike in value on the secondary market because both of those wrestlers have tragically passed away) for $25 each. I will definitely be going back there soon!

Don’t trust the 1 star reviews, these all stem from 1 person whose deal fell through who then asked his friends (people who have never dealt with bartertown) to give bad reviews (interesting how they all showed up at the same time isn’t it? That’s because they are not real customers!!!).

I’ve bought from bartertown many times, in store and through mailorder, and have always been very happy with the prices, customer service & overall experience.

This is a collectibles shop where you will pay collectors prices. The stock is the best in the city for vintage toys, records, clothes & more. They have stuff here you won’t find elsewhere & the prices are right about where they should be in comparison to collectibles on eBay, etc...you can even find yourself a couple sweet deals!

You can’t find this stuff at target or Walmart! This is the real deal. The owner is cool & knowledgeable and awesome to work with unless you make unreasonable demands. Guess what? It’s expensive to ship big heavy toys! Shipping ain’t free. If you don’t like the prices, by all means don’t buy it, but come down and decide for yourself. I bet ya you’ll leave with something you’ve been wanting forever!

I stop in this store and find awesome stuff to buy every time I’m in town and purchase from him through mailorder when I’m out of town. Never been disappointed & always been treated professionally.

This place had it all. Everywhere I turned had something I forgotten about. This store made me realize how much better toys were when I was kid. Will be going back again. Worth the hour and a half drive.

Excellent customer service and you will find great toys and collectibles and action figures. Don't forget to check out the vintage records and books in the back room, as well.
