Fun hike! We parked on the street at Dove Tail and Burbury Way. Excellent entry-level hike for little ones or smaller dogs. Hike was 1.9 miles with 555’ ascent. My son and I had a blast with plenty of scenery and a few hikers and bikers. Weather is excellent right now for a mid day. Get out and have some fun!

This is a great spot to do some technical mountain biking and take in some spectacular views. The trails are [mostly] rocky up and down, with a few spots toward the bottom that are nice single trail dirt. Switchbacks [I'd say] is the easiest both directions. Don't try to ride here if you're a beginner or even an intermediate with little rock experience: you'll be walking the whole way. Nascar is a less traveled advanced trail, very difficult/fast/fun way down... I'd guess right now, after all the rain we had this year, it might be awful to ride. Stay with Horned Lizard and WhipTail if you veer off Switchbacks. This trail takes me much longer to ride than a typical MTB route due to the rocks.

I love this trail. Excellent views, wonderful trails (there are so many). This is a very good place to mountain bike if you have a full suspension bike, as it is rather rocky. Lots of local wildlife (careful for those rattlers) and cacti so watch your step. All in all, a local gem.

A bit steep going up (good exercise - gets your heart pumpin') but totally worth it once you get to the top. Amazing views!

Good climbs and descents. Trails are suitable for Enduro and trail focused mountain bikes.

You want a 3mile incline hike? Just when you think its a hill it becomes a challenge. Beautiful views. 70-80 min hike

Great views from the top on a clear day! MTB trails are challenging for most skill levels. Getting a little rough in spots but still a BLAST!

Lovely trail! easy free parking. With lots of trail options beautiful views from the top. Unfortunately, plans are in motion to build condos apartments and homes over this beautiful land.

Nice leisurely switchback style hike right in Carlsbad. Great for aggressive downhill mountain biking too. Keep your eyes PEELING for Rattlesnakes, we walked right over one and didn’t realize it until after; only 2-3 feet long but there are definitely bigger ones on there! Altitude climb was about 500 feet, easy hike!

It's not a big space, but it's got a lot to offer. The trails were all built by the local mountain biking community in conjunction with the land managers. Lots of fun, twisty single track to keep you engaged. Definitely not for beginners! There are lots of sharp pointy rocks making it a good idea to wear guards/pads. Great hiking and trail running too, as the trails wind their way back and forth up the hill rather than just going straight up. Beautiful views of Batiquitos Lagoon and the ocean from the top.

Fairly good hike up to the top. Picnic bench at the top with a public bicycle repair station. Good for mountain bikes. Some trails are gravel or rocky, but good overall. Several variations to increase your mileage if you see fit.

I ride my bike here frequently. There are other mountain bikers and hikers on the trails. The trails are well maintained and it offers some amazing views. Parking can be problematic, but I usually park on the street to enter the trails from one side.

Probably San Diego's best legal trails for technical mountain biking (aside from Noble Canyon, of course). Lots of great routes up and down this mountain, making it very customizable for whatever you are looking for. If you like to spin/warm up before you climb, I recommend starting at Eden Park and coming up through Copper Creek to Horned Lizard. If you just wanna get to the climb and get some laps in, park at the Junipero trailhead and head up sitio to water tank. All the trails are great going down. Horned Lizard is fast and short, but Switchbacks is the most bang for your buck.

Somehow, Denk Mountain is a hidden gem that towers above the horizon. It has a number of ways up it: a road up one side and down another compliments a variety of trail types. It's a hoot for mountain biking and pretty fun for hiking.

Kudos to the scouts who built the cabanas at the top. Thanks to the SDMBA for the bike repair station.

Loved it! I suggest hiking shoes. Trail has lots of loose rocks and dirt. Narrow path, lots of trails. Make sure you look at the map on way in and at view point. We got a little lost. BRING lots of water.

Efficient and effective use of a reserve ... with a nice selection of trails. Terrain/Vegetation isn't variegated unless you count the waterway down at Copper Creek yet, there's plenty of variety in the actual pitch of the trails.
