We loved our stay here. We were able to go to our room at 10am after arriving on Amtrak. The location is superb. Easy walk to Metro or Amtrak and a short metro ride to downtown DC. The King street trolley stops right outside the hotel. The service was exceptional. They served us several bottles of complimentary water throughout our stay.

Excellent hotel, I stayed there initially because I had a free night certificate. Usually I stay at the Hilton down the road. Service was great and room was clean. May switch to this property for future stays because of the convenient location and above average service.

Upon check-in, we had a minimal wait. The receptionist was super friendly, and she gave us a bag with two water bottles and a coupon for 15% off at selected restaurants. We used the dinner discount coupon at Vola's dockside on the Potomac- and it was so worth it! Try their crab hush puppies, peel-n-eat shrimp, and the Creole coleslaw was sooo tasty.
Also upon check-in, we were given a map to show how to go around the hotel on the back street to the parking garage. Once you park, elevators in the parking garage will lead you back up to the hotel lobby and/or rooms.
The rooms at the Hampton are spacious. Ours contained a king-size bed, a sofa, two ottomans on wheels, a desk/chair area, a decent hotel size refrigerator, a coffee maker, and a wide bathroom. The morning breakfast offers many, many selections- it's not just fruit and coffee.
When you walk out of the hotel, to the left is the George Washington Masonic memorial looming large, and if you go right, that direction will take you down King Street toward the Potomac.
Right outside the hotel, there's a King Street Trolley stop. It picks you up and will stop every two blocks along the 1-mile journey. There are many specialty shops and eateries along the way. Just pull the trolley string when you want to get off.
You won't be disappointed with the hotel; it's correctly priced for all its accommodations, and the convenience of the King Street trolley is an added plus. I would definitely stay here again while in Alexandria. The location is great for exploring the sites.
Just a few of the sites we checked-out: the replica of George Washington's townhouse- used by soldiers and G.W. when not at Mount Vernon, the Spite house- built in an 8ft alley, the old Torpedo Factory area, the many interesting shops along King Street and beyond, the 18th Century Tall Ship Providence replica which you can board + there are table and chairs and drinks for sale on the dock, the Gadsby’s Tavern and more historical sites. You can't go wrong with the Hampton Inn location and accommodations.

This hotel was very accommodating to my grandparents who traveled from Italy to visit us. We live further out in the suburbs, and the wanted to stay in the Old Town area so that the could take their daily walks around the city. Everything is super close and within walking distance for them, and the metro itself is only one block away from the hotel. The absolutely loved it. They gave high marks about the service here, and Mother mentioned to me about how nice the housekeeping staff were. For example they brought them an extra towel when they needed it. The stayed here for five nights, and then came to our house for their last night before flying back home. I bet that the will want to stay here again whenever they travel here again to visit the family?

Overall the hotel is nice, its clean, friendly staff, and has an amazing breakfast. Its located in a very nice area, with nearby shops, restaurants and metro station, as well as a free trolley that takes you to the waterfront. We did have 3 rooms during our stay due to leaking from the rooms above us. Betty did a great job taking care of us by upgrading our room and adjusting the cost of our stay.
Parking is limited and very tight for a pickup truck, which should be mentioned when purchasing the spots. Other customers with larger vehicles were parking in two spaces, making it even more difficult.
I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again. As far as the leaking, we understand these things happen, but not generally 2 rooms in a night stay.

For an older building, this place was very comfortable, clean, staff was very helpful and the breakfast was very good with lots of options. Room was comfortable and clean, to include the coffee maker and other appliances. Parking garage is tight but was able to fit a 4runner just fine. Location is tops with a lot of food/shop options. You can walk anywhere, safely. The commute to and from JB Andrews was very easy.

This is a really clean hotel. Rooms are bright, but not blinding. They have parking in a garage underneath for 20 a day. Don't let the fact the hotel has no circle entrance and parking isn't marked, there is plenty of free street parking and checking in was swift. After you check in, the secret parking space is revealed. They also gave us a coupon for 15 percent off a few local restaurants. We didn't pick one of them, but that was a nice touch. They offer different specials throughout the week and the weekend we were there had complimentary breakfast. Nice!

This hotel is in the older section of Alexandria. The row houses with the different doors showcase the charm of the city. Lots of restaurants within walking distance. It's a nice walk.

The checkout was slow only because the staff was not stationary at the front desk and everyone had to wait for him to magically appear. Negative experience on that portion for sure. However, it's very close to the Ronald Reagan Airport, so there was no need to rush trying to catch that plane. I'd stay there again for sure. Especially because it was so close to the airport and the bright, cherry rooms.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is 10/10. The hotel offered parking. In other reviews it said that the parking garage was really tight, which it was, but my hyundai santa fe had 0 issues getting in or out of the garage. I felt welcomed upon checking in and all interactions I had with the women at the front desk were all positive. Our room was on the 2nd floor and felt clean and the AC worked well. My only recommendation would be having the actual dark curtains be able to move instead of them being attached to the ceiling. I would have liked to have made the room darker with the curtains, but wasn't able to. We loved being within walking distance to restaurants and the metro station. The free King Street trolly was handy too when it was raining. Overall, I had a really good time here and will plan to come back when we return in the future.

My husband, our grandson and of course myself just spent four days here. The hotel is fabulous and the staff is so friendly and helpful. The amenities are amazing and plentiful. When we checked out, they offered us a to go bag each for the road, which had an apple, bagel, with peanut butter spread or jam, a utensil packet with napkin and a bottle of water. Everything in old town is so close. The metro is a pleasant short walk. The King street trolley stops right in front of the hotel and takes you to many of the wonderful restaurants and shops. We hope to visit again soon!

The staff was very friendly and the room was very nice, well- equipped, and clean. We would like to especially thank Betty at the front desk. Betty checked us in early (rewards customer), and was very helpful showing us where to park, and exactly how to get there. When we checked out, we left some important items. We immediately called the front desk, spoke to Betty, and Betty said not to worry, she would send those items to us. I believe Betty is doing this on her own and we really appreciate this. She's a super, sweet lady. People like Betty is why we come back.

Great room. Really good security. You have to use your key or the speaker to enter, even at the front. Don't know, but pretty sure there was a back entrance. Also when ordering delivery, they called first to say "your (fill in the blank) is here. Should i send them up?" Yes, please. The only issue was the people in the next room were loud, but they get a negative 20. Also i couldn't figure out the blinds the first night but figured it out by the second night. Jackhammering across the street didn't bother me. I need backfround noise. I did try to purchase something from their snack area, but they only accept cash. Which would have been fine but before i left LA i had my debit card compromised and hasn't received my replacement by the time i left. Ii didn't have the PIN to my credit cards, so that was all on me. Not a hit on the hotel. They are near Bob and Edith's. That's the only outside place i are at while here. Once in Old Town and once in Springfield. Great diner. As my love said "you know it's a great dinner when older people eat there." Because you know older people don't like to spend time somewhere not comfortable nor that has bad menu options. Very nice and reminded me of my home town of Leavenworth, Kansas.

Amazing stay! Best quality of service I have ever had and will be recommending this hotel to everyone I know because of how great the staff was. We had a problem with checking in (on our side) and they were so accommodating and helpful. Parking was great, the free breakfast was better than I expected, the location could not have been beat anywhere, is it was on the most walkable street I have ever been on and right next to the metro so it was as easy as it could be to get into DC. Special shout out to Tina and Janette for being so helpful! Hampton Inn is lucky to have you :)

We stayed here for our family vacation between Christmas and New Year's.
Location was our main selling point, so with a 5min walk to both the Metro and Amtrak stations, we were sold. The free breakfast is always a bonus! And the staff kept the coffee and hot chocolate out all day/night.
If you need to leave your luggage while you wait for Amtrak to leave like we did, the staff will tag them and store them behind the desk for you. We would absolutely stay here again.

Great hotel to stay for a couple of days. We stayed early in the week for an impromptu trip. Everyone was friendly and thr hotel is situated in a great location where everything is within walking distance. Rooms were clean when we got there and upon request the following day. Would absolutely stay again.

This is a great hotel for families visiting DC. It is right next to the Metro but also has a great vibe to do a night or 2 in downtown Alexandria. We had small children so the hot continental breakfast was great with plenty of options and the menu changed daily. We also had connecting rooms which was easy to have privacy but our children close by with a door inside our room to our adjoining room. I would definitely stay here again. Although the hotel had an older model vibe being in downtown Alexandria I thought overall cleanliness was great and they were even able to accommodate an early check in due to our flight being early.

I would definitely stay here again. It was a good deal in comparison to the other hotels in the area. If was at one end of King Street (opposite of the waterfront), therefore we were able to walk the entire street on one side and back and catch all the cute little shops. On it's other side was near the metro (walking distance) and a more modern side of the city. Also a close drive to Mt Vernon and Belle Haven park for the sunrise! Near all the fun and several good restaurants. The parking was also a good deal $20 for the entire stay and they also let us keep it there after check out until 6pm. It is a small lot, but I have a small car so it worked for me. If you have a large vehicle, it may be hard to to get in and out.
The staff at check on in late afternoon of 11/13 was so kind and at check out on 11/14 as well. Breakfast was a decent spread and tea/coffee/fruit is available all day. The room was clean and comfortable. Oh and they have a checkout at noon, so you can sleep in!
Stay here!

Perfect location for visiting DC area!
A rough beginning but not due to hotel. The electricity was due to be turned off around midnight until morning. We were properly informed, given advice about air conditioning, and given a flashlight for safety in the room. The breakfast is the BEST I have ever had in a hotel....hot foods (eggs, potatoes, bacon), fresh fruit in individual cups, yogurt, oatmeal, waffles, pastries, etc....I can't imagine not being able to find something for everyone. It was kept fresh and stocked. They even had water bottles that we could take with us on our sight seeing journeys. Room was clean and sanitized. Elevator is a bit slow. We parked one night at the hotel. Do NOT drive a large car into the garage....it was built for compact cars. King Metro station just a few blocks away. Very safe walking day and night. We took Metro to and from airport. Very convenient. Hotel on King Street. We walked both night and day up and down the entire street. Felt very safe. Ate at local restaurants....great variety. This hotel has it all!

Our stay was great. This started at check in, they allowed us to do a early check in and greeted my group and I with smiles and friendly conversation. Then we got to our room, the room was spotless and cleaned perfectly. The only issue I could find but didn't really mater that much was the bath tub had a dip in the middle which allowed for water not to drain all the way. I still give the location 5 stars. Would go again and recommend anyone to stay there. Thanks again to the front desk staff, From check in to check out and all the times in-between they always had a smile and friendly as if They met us before.
