Vermilion

This restaurant was closed during the pandemic and I am so happy to try their food again after their reopening. I went there for brunch and selected the two eggs your way on the menu. The fingerline potato that came with the egg was crispy and tasty. The side salad was my favorite—it was fresh and perfectly seasoned with vinegar and pepper. I would like to go back again to try other things on their menu.

It's a Lovely place and bar, I did like it. The food is good, my favorite was the squash lasagna, The drinks are good, but, the best was our server, I don't remeber her name but she was the nicest and also brought us some free champagne cause it was my birthday! Definitely the best server!

Delicious dinner. We had the pan con tomate and the fish crudo as starters. I had the duck and my husband had the prime rib as mains. It's the best duck I've ever had. I had a chocolate dessert and my husband had the cheesecake. Everything was delicious, it's a wonderful atmosphere and our server was fantastic. It's a bit expensive, but definitely worth it for a nice night out.

My family had an amazing experience at Vermilion. I took my mother and nephew for Mother’s Day. From the time we were greeted to the time we left we were truly taken care of. All of the service staff went above and beyond to make sure she had a memorable dinner. The menu was thoroughly explained and the wine was selected with care. The food is fresh and locally sourced. The staff and knowledgeable and friendly. Our server Juliette did a phenomenal job. She was warm and attentive. I definitely intended on coming back.

Visiting Vermillion feels like a treat, and I must highlight the duck dish as my favorite. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. What made it even more special was the seasonally perfect squash that accompanied it. It felt like a delightful nod to the season, and the combination of flavors left a lasting impression. Favorite local spot for us!

Went for the first time during restaurant week 2024. The entree options had changed because they ran out of one choice. Although our food came out really slowly for having a limited menu, it tasted absolutely delicious. Yet, we were still hungry after two drinks and three courses. I'm glad to have tried another Michelin-starred restaurant; it was pleasant all-around, but not quite sure it ranked to that level based on our one visit. Worth trying.

If you're looking for a night out in NOVA, the Vermilion should certainly be on or twards the top of your list. The feel and the atmosphere of the restaurant in the heart of Old Town is complemented extremely well with amazing fresh local food. One thing to note is because they use local food, the variety on the menu is limited, but it adds to the unique experience of knowing you're eating fresh sustainable food! Because of this, you can taste the freshness with how good their food truly is, and there is not a bad thing on their menu! It is very reasonably priced considering the quality of their food and being right on King Street.

Fantastic service and a delicious meal! The menu rotates based on the season and what their farms can supply. I enjoyed the autumn squash soup, the short ribs, and the chocolate caramel tart. Definitely utilize the servers when selecting wines, they know what works with the menu. Also the cold brew martini is top notch!

Weekend happy hour here! I ordered the BLT plus espresso martini for brunch. Well done. Get the window seat!

Celebrated a friends birthday here last night. We were served complimentary champagne as soon as we sat down. Ordered the fried chicken and milk bread snacks, risotto small dish, ravette steak main, fingerling potatoes and Brussel sprouts, with a chocolate mousse-like dessert. Everything was absolutely incredible. One of the best meals I’ve ever had! We sat right by the window downstairs and enjoyed people watching. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive. An all-around amazing experience!

We have been meaning to eat here for a while now, and I am so glad we finally did! The service was excellent. Our server gave us a great overview of the menu, which was super helpful. Everything we had was delicious and unique. They make their own pasta, and it was so good.

Friendly service with delightful cuisine. The staff was incredibly accommodating. We showed up just before dinner service and decided to leave and come back. The manager and host were very kind and patient with us. I will say it's definitely geared towards adults and older kids. Don't expect to find a kids' menu (which wasn't a problem for us at all). Take it as an opportunity to expand your kiddos' tastes. My husband got the duck, which was absolutely delicious. My son and I got the Mahi Mahi also very tasty but could have used a little more brightness. The polenta, octopus, cocktails, and milk bread with butter apps were delicious. We would absolutely come again when we're back in the area.

I haven’t been here for a while and I see there is new management. Some really nice renovations to the interior and new management who are eager to please. I love their cocktails, ambiance, location, decor, and energy overall. Bartenders seem much friendlier and quick to fill water and declutter the bar area. Management is clearly making sure everyone is on point. I notice though the menu has changed and I’m not impressed. No vegetable small bites and appetizers, all fried or raw seafood. We could use a roasted carrot or Brussels sprout. The cheeseboard had cheese, jam, nuts and rock-hard bread. A cheese board must have a pickled something and fresh fruit. I love their cocktails and I still hear great things about dinner entrees, but I also hear the new food is good but the old food was great! Looking forward to Chef revamping the menu. I love coming here and will be back to see whats new. Thank you Paul and Jose for excellent service and cocktails, great work making me feel welcomed!

Update: Management went out of their way to respond to my review so I popped back in for a drink and snacks, and was thoroughly impressive with Victoria’s dedication, Paul’s customer service as well as the delicious bar snacks. Well done.

This is a small intimate restaurant on the first floor that has a bar and a lounge area. We went for brunch and the service was excellent and fast. The food was very good. I didn't think I would like the Steak Tartare but I definitely did. The lemonade seemed to be fresh. I was so full after ordering the hush puppies and the breast that came to the table that I couldn't finish the burger.

If you're looking for a nice spot to eat and perfect atmosphere, this is it! You will spend a lot of money on Food that can be easily made in your own kitchen, but that wouldn't be fun! The service was superb, and not once did they let my water go empty. Oh, get that Bread, that's worth it. And when you're done head over to Jeni's Ice Cream for dessert, and if you need a drink head down to Murphys. Follow me for more....

We went for the first time since they reopened. They have a new head chef. I have to admit, we were sceptical because this was one of our favorite restaurants pre-pandemic and we were concerned with the changes and how they may affect the quality that we had known to come and love.
I am happy to say, there is no doubt Chef Pflaumer, the new head chef, carries the torch and tradition with a menu that will leave you wanting more. We are more than lucky that you have found such a talented chef to run your kitchen. Chef Pflaumer uses the freshest ingredients in a way that highlights their natural flavor and will dazzle even the most picky critics. Also, I'd like to mention our waiter, Zach. He was fantastic and was more than happy to provide us with suggestions and answers to any questions we had. He certainly did not disappoint. This is a bright, new chapter and I can't wait to see what's next. We'll definitely be going back every couple of weeks as the menu and season changes. We can't wait to see what Chef Pflaumer treats us with next. Vermilion, just like the color it was named after, will dazzle and delight you. It's a must if you're anywhere close, or even if you're not. You must go, WILL NOT be disappointed and I promise, you will go back.
We revisited for a champagne and food pairing. We were the only guests in the upstairs dining room. This was a small craft champagne AND they even brought in the owner from France for the experience. Four champagnes, four courses of perfectly paired food. What more could you possibly ask for. Absolutely phenomenal.

I’ve been coming here every few years for 20 years. It keeps changing but maintains the standards and experience that keeps me soooo happy. New experience is Cuban flavored and great!! Cocktails are fun, well thought out, and worth starting with. Food is so complex and varied and exciting! The duck was particularly jaw dropping. Wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. Will for sure keep coming back.

After being closed for two years and opening up three weeks ago, I'm happy this place is as good as I remember. They got a new chef, but the food is still excellent and the cocktails are very tasty.

Friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Went to Vermilion for our anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our server Jose was fabulous and made a number of suggestions which were all excellent. We ordered the croquettes, potatoes, beets, risotto, and casoncelli. All were delicious and sizeable portions. Will definitely be back!
