Quiet, have own space even when crowded. Can reserve pavilions, on-site campground, water stations, paved and nature trails, dogs allowed, bikes allowed. My kids love it, two playgrounds. Open areas, picnic areas and benches throughout. Not all shady but nature trails have canopy cover.

The playground is nestled under a canopy of shady trees with easy access from the parking lot. It's a short drive into the park but it's worth the drive. It's well kept and clean with plenty of restroom facilities. Great for kids. Update: they have extended park hours to 8pm and are in the process of replacing and freshening up the mulch in areas . Update: downed limbs and trees have been roped off from hurricane Ian

Lovely park! Big playground and lots of trees. There's also some nice trails. The restrooms are clean and there's a water fountain. Perfect place for the kids

We parked in parking lot 7, and walked the green trail. Beautiful trail with lots of diversity. Bring bug repellent. Lots of mosquitoes, horse flies, yellow flies, and a few ticks.

It takes some patience to drive all the way into the park and over the speed bumps to get here, but it was well worth it for the wonderfully shaded playground with lots of interesting and unique climbing structures and small but sometimes steep slides. Swings too and a dinosaur bobble thing. And a short educational nature trail for kids too.

Beautiful bike/walking path paved which connects to suncoast trail. There are also several pavilions, playground, learning center and cabins for overnight stays. Well used park by still very relaxing.

My children really enjoy this playground. There's almost always other kids there to play with, and if you are observant, there are lots of opportunities to see wildlife here that you can't typically see in more urban or smaller municipal type parks. The last time we were there we saw catbirds darting through the shrubbery along the perimeter of the playground, green anoles on the oak trees which shade the picnic benches, and a gopher tortoise strolled right through the middle of the action just feeding on grass while the kids all paused to watch and appreciate him. Great experience.

Starkey is a nice nature park. Hike, bike, pavilions, playgrounds and clean bathrooms.

My go to park for biking. They have a paved path path that connects to the suncoast trail. Starkey also has many miles of mountain biking trails that are beginner to intermediate...maybe.

Hiking trails are vast, some sandy. I have seen dear, snakes, owls, hawks, coyotes, turtles, armadillos, vultures and more here over the years.

Always came here as a kid for the playground and now I used it as a photo op for my 1995 honda prelude si import, because of how natural the trees curve overhead + the lighting!

Here's the photos with slight editing and some raw.

Well kept. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Plenty of parking with walking and biking trails accessible from the parking point. Very cute Planets info signs along one part of the trail.

I went to a BBQ here at one of the pavilions. Very cool atmosphere. Loved the counter set up with the fireplace in its middle.

Kids had a great time, the equipment is different than other parks, and plenty of seating and shade for the adults. Playground was a bit difficult to find depending on which way you are going around the loop. One way has a playground sign, the other way only says pavilion 2. Will go again

Really great park. Lots of stuff to do from bike trails to an amazing play ground with two big pavilions around it for parties. They have three different play areas for different age groups and three separate parking areas for it. I have two kids with an 7 year difference and they both have a great time when we go!!!
