The Carousel Bar & Lounge

We decided to start our stroll down this iconic part of New Orleans with a drink at The Carousel Bar. What a fun place!

As you walk in you see the carousel bar in the middle of the space. The bar was full and couldn’t sit at it, however, there is plenty of seating around too.

The bar itself slowly spins, adding a little movement and a special vibe to this place.

The drinks we had were great! The had a Paloma, Margarita, the Carousel Old Fashioned and Pimm’s cup. We also had some truffle fries as a snack.

The fries were nice and crispy. The flavoring was just right. They came with ketchup and a mayonnaise-based sauce.

Totally worth the stop.

Also, the art on the lobby of the hotel was very nice to view.

we had a great experience! definitely a tourist must! we came with a group of 5 before they opened to wait in line, got seats on the carousel right away and orders taken right away. you are definitely paying for the experience and novelty, so keep that in mind with the prices of the drinks. would probably come again but definitely a must for a first time! enjoyed it all!

We stopped in for a few drinks and to ride the carousel around. We were lucky to get 3 seats at the bar right away and got our order taken very quickly. The drinks were good and we enjoyed the experience as the carousel revolved around the bar staff.

One of the greatest drinking experiences you can have in a bar in America. It's nearly impossible to get a seat at the carousel and that is for a very good reason. Get there as soon as they open and you'll be able to pull it off. I've done it in the middle of the night and I've ended up waiting about an hour to get a seat. It's worth it.

To be at a slowly revolving bar is truly a unique experience. The key is where you focus your eyes to avoid that weird sensation a bit like seasickness. I recommend just to the right of the main pole. If there is a single drink to get here it should be the pims cup. Unequivocally this is their masterpiece and the best one I've had in New Orleans.

If you're making a spiritual pilgrimage for the best bar experiences--this one should be on the list.

What else can I say? You are going in for experience and high quality. It is not cheap, and there is usually a wait, but WELL worth both. Watch bartenders jump over the bar (you know, because it is a full circle), and experience the sensation of "once you are on the ride, you don't want off very quickly." You will also feel the need to call out someone waiting for their ride, and then they can follow you around while you finish your drinks. Fun. We ordered a couple of old fashioned drinks (pic below), and then I switched to Stella. Corey (on right), and Shaun (on left) gave us great service. You can go in totally sober and still feel a little trippy since the bar moves, and good luck if you go in after other fun. We did the former and it still made us be more careful with balance. A FANTASTIC experience and very much in the heart of everything else you are doing during your trip.

Anytime we are traveling through New Orleans we have to make a stop at the Carousel Bar. It is always a great spot to sit and hangout with friends and family! The food is always good and the drinks are always flowing. Our bartender Kory took awesome care of us! Look forward to next time we are in town!

This place was REALLY cool but also REALLY full of people. It was a lot smaller than I thought and the people on the carousel were not interested in getting up. People would keep sitting there even when their drinks were finished. They could benefit from having some sort of timer system for staying especially when they are no longer ordering. Either way it was a neat attraction.

Definitely worth getting there 30 minutes before it opened and standing in line to have a seat at the famed Carousel Bar! Take it from this Kentucky girl, they make a GREAT Old Fashioned.

This place is a must see if you are in town visiting. The hotel is beautiful and the Carousel is amazing. Service is wonderful and they know a lot of specialty drinks. I brought my nephew here when he was visiting and we actually got 2 seats on the carousel. This place is also amazing at Christmas. The decorations are wonderful. Definitely need to go check it out.

The experience at the bar is worth the price of a drink. The carousel circles the bar at about 1 revolution per 12 minutes. The grilled cheese was excellent. Truffle fries were tasty too. Reggie is a perfect bartender.

Arrived about 45 minutes before doors opened and we were front of the line, by about 5 minutes. Great selection of cocktails and other drinks on the menu, but the bar staff can mix most drinks. We had a Sazerac and a couple of Mudslides. Excellent ambiance. What a fabulous experience.

What a tremendously fun and essential New Orleans experience. From the spinning bar to the live music, this place is classy, unique, charming and comforting. Just make sure you get there early or expect to stand for most of the night. Lovely place and would recommend if just for one drink.

Iconic New Orleans experience. The drinks are great and the food is good. It’s fun to wait and watch for your chance to hop on and ride the carousel seats around the bar.

Super fun bar that’s always packed. Expect to wait to get a seat at the bar. A Sazerac is $20 but well made. The adjacent bar area had a pianist early and a jazz quintet late. Both were good. Put this place on your to-do list.

Loved this spot - touristy in the best way! Wild to sit at the bar and do a couple rounds. We first tried to stop by around brunch time and had trouble getting a spot - but later Sunday had no problem. Definitely popular and gotta get lucky, but worth it! Good drinks and pretty good service too.

The service was excellent and the vibe in there was fun! Live music and busy. Definitely a good spot to hit up and the drinks were wonderful!

Located inside the hotel Monteleone, the carousel bar is very cool and unique. It turns faster than you think, and as you can imagine, it stays pretty busy, but there are tables around the bar as well. Their pimms cup is the best I've ever had.

Service is great, we got the sampler with pâté and some cured meats and cheeses and we loved it! The bar rotates at the perfect speed, you don’t notice it until you think about it

We stayed at the Hotel Monteleone and visited this bar on multiple days at different times. Great service and quite enjoyable each time!
