I visited with my husband on a Friday night. They weren't busy (which we loved). It was quiet and a very comfortable atmosphere. We ordered For The Pride which says it is for 2 people. It is so much incredibly delicious food. Just when we thought they were done delivering food, they brought a sizzling plate with chicken, lamb and shrimp. And then a plate of nan. We ate until we were more than full, and thought about the leftover nan all the way home. This was a bit of a drive for us, but we'll gladly make it again for food and service of this quality! Highly recommend.

I had an exquisite experience at The Lion Indian cuisine restaurant! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting and elegant. The staff was so welcoming and attentive, making sure that all of my needs were met from start to finish.

And the food! Oh my goodness, the food was simply amazing. All of the dishes were expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The spices were perfectly balanced, and each bite was a true delight. The presentation of the dishes was also impressive, and everything was served hot and fresh.

I highly recommend The Lion Indian cuisine restaurant for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. It is truly worth every penny, and I cannot wait to go back and try more of their delicious menu offerings. Five stars all around!

This was our first time and it did not disappoint! The service was quick, the dining area was spotless, and the food was delicious.
We ordered the pride for 2 along with an order of garlic naan. Everything was hot and immensely flavorful. We will certainly be back.

Excellent butter chicken, easily the best I have had in San Antonio. The Garlic Naan and Onion Kulcha were also stellar. Paneer Pakora wasn’t for me but it was interesting. I’ll definitely be back

We went at lunch on a Sunday and had a lovely experience. We went in early, before the church crowd got out.
This was our first time going to The Lion and look forward to going back.
The Lion has a full bar, which is something we look for when we go out to eat. We didn't get an adult beverage, so we cannot say how well they mix.
The biggest reason we chose to go to the Lion is the buffet. We love Indian food, but can never remember what exactly we like, and Naan is a no brainer.
We enjoyed a little of everything from the buffet. We did skip the desserts. The Mushroom Masala and a chicken dish that did not have a sign. (The chicken is the item in front of the Meatball dish in the video).
We will be back to try The Lion at dinner so we can have an adult beverage.

I love their buffet. The food was fresh and warm. The service is amazing. They are constantly checking on you to see if you need anything. The establishment is well kept. Paid $32 and some change for two people. Highly recommend this place!

This restaurant is great! They have variety of options to choose from, including tandoor, chicken, lamb, seafood, and it’s a delight for vegetarian eaters as there are vast variety of options to choose from! Their naan have variety of types too which is rare to find amongst other Indian restaurant. I’ve tried the plain naan, garlic naan, Kashmiri Naan, cheese naan. They have whole wheat options like paratha, tandoori roti, onion Kulcha, and my favorite is aloo paratha which tastes way too authentic and reminds me of my mom. Not to forget, all their breads come with butter on top, which is good as other places charge extra for the butter (mention no butter if you are a vegan). The staff of very friendly and polite with everyone, they do a great job of looking after every table even when it’s super busy. The chef takes great effort to accommodate all types of eaters including vegan, gluten free, and lactose intolerant entrees. They can substitute fresh cream or milk with coconut milk per request which is very thoughtful and helpful for lactose intolerant people to try regular food with a little twist. Unfortunately milk or cream can’t be substituted in their Naan’s, but the best part is again having whole wheat paratha, tandoori roti, aloo paratha as option which makes the dining experience amazing! Their mango lassi is amazing and so is their raita, as they are made from housemade yogurt. Their iced tea is one of my favorite too depending on my mood, it’s brewed fresh daily. To top the experience, they have a full bar which is amazing in case we need to have a drink before or after meal. My favorite drink is the mango and strawberry margarita. Their bar tenders do magic with drinks. Recently I had the Indian cosmopolitan, it was so good that I can’t even describe it in words! You’ve got to try it. They also have Indian beers such as Taj Mahal and the flying horse. I’ve had the Taj Mahal and I need to try the flying horse some day.
I’m addition to this, I’d like to mention some exclusive vegan food entree’s they have: dal soup, tomato coconut soup, tarka dal fry, aloo mattar, aloo Gobi, aloo baingan, mixed vegetables, chana masala, dal makhni, and my favorite BAINGAN BHARTA! They have vegan starters like vegetable samosas, mixed pakoras, and papadum. I’ve covered the vegan breads before so not going to repeat again 😁😋

Moreover, you can customize the spice levels from no spice🥶, mild, medium, spicy, extra spicy, and Indian spicy 🥵 I like that variety of options as some foods are good to eat mild whereas others on an Indian spicy levels.

They have a full size tandoor and all the breads are made with 0 oil, all the tandoori meats are made with 0 oil too.

Their desserts are house made from scratch too! You must try the Khir and Gulab jamun for sure! I’ve never tried their kulfi but it’s made of house made Rabdi which is a rare find in this continent for sure!

Moreover, all their meats are halal certified. Their lamb is premium quality Australian lamb and one of the best I’ve tasted, PERIOD!

My favorites here are:
Appetizers: vegetable samosa’s, assorted platter.
Breads: aloo paratha, paratha, kheema naan (this is new addition and so amazing)
Rice: lamb biryani.
Tandoori: lamb tikka kabab, chicken tikka kabab, seekh kabab.
Chicken: Butter Chicken, Chicken Korma.
Lamb: Rohan Josh, Lamb korma.
Seafood: Fish masala and seafood curry.
Vegetables: dal makhni, Dal Tarka fry, aloo gobi, paneer butter masala, baingan bharta.

If you like Indian Desi dhaba style food and good music, this place is a must visit and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!

Update: new hours in photo. The have cooled down the spice level in the buffet. Still my regular lunch place. Love the mushroom masala and pakoras.

Loved EVERYTHING about this place, the customer service was very attentive. The food RIDICULOUSLY good, including there sweet tea. My husband isn't an Indian fan and let me tell you even the flavor of the vegetables turned him into a fan to this cuisine. I ordered us the appetizer platter for two as well as for our main course we ordered The Pride for two and after eating we could still feed another couple. We have left overs for the next day, fantastic portions for the price! Don't take my word for it, you must try this place!

I'm from the UK and have lived in San Antonio for over 16 years. I've never found an Indian restaurant that tastes as close to Indian food back home....until we visited The Lion. Absolutely DELICIOUS, large dinner portions, and a real taste of British-Indian style food. Highly recommended 👌

We get takeout from here about once a month. It's delicious. My family loves the saag and the chicken tikka masala. Definitely recommend. In fact, I did recommend to a friend yesterday. They also got takeout and she was sending me pictures and raving about their order.

Best Indian place in San Antonio. Not sure why their name is different on Uber eats. Only ever got take out from here and it’s always good.

Came here for the first time on a Whim for our anniversary and it was a GREAT choice! Amazing friendly and fast service, clean restaurant, and even better food!
We enjoyed it so much I forgot to take pictures of the Veggie Pakoras and Paneer Pakoras, as well as the awesome Samosas! I had the Chicken Tikka marsala extra spicy (I asked for it it was perfect) and my wife got the Veggie Malai Kofta... Awesome! Best Indian we've ever had in San Antonio! Try it! :)

Very good food and friendly service. Our group loves food and tend to order most of the menu. Very good flavor and able to choose the spice level. Had good memories of visiting India with their cuisine. Samosas, paneer pakoras, and shrimp pakoras were an amazing way to start. Perfectly cooked and great flavor with the chutney. Out of what we ordered the chicken tikka, butter chicken, rogan Josh, and mixed grilled tandoori were awesome. Our waitress Kat was amazing with our questions and indecisiveness. Ending with pistachio kulfi, khir, and masala chai left us very satisfied. Very happy with food and atmosphere.

Overall very solid Indian food! The ambiance was decent, if not low key. Not pretentious at all. The food was very tasty, I was impressed with the meat - many Indian places over cook and under spice it, but they did it right. The portion size was also good, we got the $42 dinner for two, and it filled us both up, with some take out as well. Service was fast and attentive, never felt neglected. This is def our new Indian spot!
