Alamo Steakhouse & Saloon

Met family here for dinner while visiting in the area and had a great experience! All the food from salads to entrees to desserts was excellent ! Steaks were cooked to our preference and the sauce that comes with the pork chops had great flavor. River took great care of us and made it wonderful experience!

Very good food, friendly employees, and great place to get a birthday dinner for sure. I had the salmon and my boys had prime rib, sirloin, and the western burger. All very good and cooked right. Highly recommend

My family and I have been eating here, for many years. One of our favorites in Coles County! We are obsessed with their "bull bites!" I could eat them by the boat load. Their steaks and everything else are delicious. Our server, Kylia(spelling?) was fantastic she was so friendly. Their staff is always wonderful. My sister has autism and they were so nice to her wanting to meet everyone lol🙂

Food was plentiful and good. Ribs were good if just a bit dry, but seasoned well. Good selection of sides to go along with the entrees. Others said the salmon was very good too. Full bar service and good selection of beers. They actually have more than one single malt Scotch which was nice. Service was quick and very pleasant.

First time visiting. Great atmosphere. Our waitress, Ava, was very friendly, professional and accommodating. The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the filet mignon and will return for repeat business.

Went here for a birthday dinner and the food was fantastic! Our server was one of the best we've ever had, I believe her name was River. We will be back again soon.

Made a reservation for my birthday,the atmosphere is wonderful and laid back,the food was cooked wonderfully,(I didn't even require steak sauce for the sirloin),it was cooked that good.,and my old fashioned was mixed perfectly.,it was mixed w out one liquor overpowering the other.,and their creme brulee was done well.,and my wife's battered shrimp was cooked to the letter., Alamo is definitely one of the better steak house's here in little old Mattoon.,,we hadn't been there in over ten years,..and well worth it.

Always great, friendly service. The bull bites and sauce are a must have appetizer every time we go. The overnight marinaded steak (I believe it’s called the distiller) had a sweet taste to it which I wasn’t a fan of. Wish they would have included that in the description. Tuna steak has amazing flavor and is a very great main entree! The shrimp was delicious.

Unbelievable menu. Absolutely love this restaurant. The menu is amazing and love the decor inside.

Like usual, the Alamo doesn’t disappoint.

I ordered the New York Strip and it was phenomenal. The seasoning, the sear, and it was cooked how I wanted. I wolfed that thing down.

My wife got the Delmonico which is one of her favorite options. She put it down along with her sides in no time. Everything came out just how she wanted.

We enjoyed the waitress, River, as usual. She has been our server the past 2-3 times we’ve visited and she is always top notch. On top of filling drinks, engaging, and extremely nice.

It’s a little pricey which is why Alamo is only a special occasion kinda place for us, but it’s always worth every penny.

Can’t wait for our next visit so I can try something new!

My friend and I came here after a long day of hikes, and it was the best meal we have had all week. The server, Paul P. was fantastic! He was attentive, made sure always had what we needed, and so kind. We are team give Paul a raise. ☺

Steak and salmon was delicious and my server was super quick! Perfect for a date!

I've been to the Alamo countless times and every time I go there I've had a good experience. The food and service are always good and when mistakes are made they take care of you the customer. If you're on a schedule just know weekends are packed so expect a wait.

Fabulous steaks, great prices on liquor. Good daily specials. Try the bull bites & an old fashioned. Try the prime rib on Sunday. Local classic.
