The Friday Fish Fry Is Calling You!
Going to a Friday fish fry has been a long standing tradition in the Chain O Lakes area, just as in the north woods of Wisconsin and Michigan. Cullom Knoll has a fry that is outstanding. Expect to wait at prime dinner time, but as was the case last night, we arrived at 6:30 and were seated immediately. The interior resembles a log cabin with natural wood walls. Booths line one wall and lots of tables in the center. A long bar sits on another side serving tap beers, wines and cocktails. There is an expansive outdoor dining area that is really nice when the weather is warm. On Fridays, the menu offers bluegill and walleye dinners along with an all you can eat fish fry for $14.50 that includes cod, either baked, fried, or a combo, potato pancakes or fries, cole slaw and lemon wedges. Fried fish comes with tarter sauce, melted butter accompanies the baked. I chose the combo which came out with two large fried and baked pieces of cod and fries. The fried fish batter is crisp, very light and not oily. The baked is sprinkled with some paprika to add a little flavor, mostly for color, and the fish is perfectly cooked in each style. The tarter sauce is probably homemade and quite tasty. And you can't go wrong dipping baked cod into melted butter! The fries and cole slaw were ok. My wife chose just the baked cod and it came out with three large pieces. It is all you can eat and we each ordered a couple more pieces of the baked after finishing our first portion. As for the bar, numerous 16 ounce draft beers are available. I enjoyed a Sam Adams Oktoberfest ($5.50) and a Millet Lite ($3.00). The hostess and servers are all friendly, welcoming and attentive. Stop in!

The Cullom Knoll catered our wedding last week, and our guests and us LOVED the food! I kept hearing about it all night and after! We had a buffet for 100 guests, Amy and her crew did a FANTASTIC job on table settings, cocktail hour and serving our guests. I 100% recommend them for your special events and weddings!! Thank you for being an amazing vendor!!

Honestly, we were there for the musical entertainment. I had stopped in and previewed the venue to determine if there was dancing space. I actually spoke to the owners, who assured me they would accommodate us. We get there and sure enough they had moved 2 tables and made a dance floor. We ate a tasty appetizer and a couple drinks. The wait staff kept our water glasses full and the owners had kind words for us when we left. Oh, the entertainment was also good. We will be watching their musical schedule and plan to be back.

We had rented the back room for a Birthday party. From the start Amy was a huge help with the menu, seating and any other questions I had. She was very friendly and returned my emails in a timely manner. The day of the party everything went perfectly! The tables were already set up how we discussed and our server was there right away to lend a hand. Logan was our server and he was phenomenal! He was on top of all the drink orders and there were a lot. Always there to lend a hand and had a great personality. All the guests enjoyed the food very much. The pretzel bites, pizza and sausage seemed to be big crowd pleasers. Thank you to everyone who helped with the party and making it a fun and fantastic Birthday celebration!!! I would highly recommend The Knoll for your next event...they cater as well!

I just moved to McHenry and was looking for warm comfort food like soup. I found clam chowder at this restaurant that was amazing. I just got back from Maine, and this chowder had more clams in it than the ones I had there. The restaurant is a very cozy place as well. I will be coming back for sure.

The bartender, I believe her name was Becca, was super friendly, informative and welcoming. Great atmosphere and awesome food. Had the pickle spears app and a chicken chipotle wrap. Will definitely be back to try more!

Have been going here for a few years! it's amazing and affordable! Those two words don't always go hand in hand but here they do. The staff is always polite. We have also had catered small events here and they have been perfect!

Ordered traditional chicken wings and artichoke dip. The wings are probably the best quality and size around the area. They were great! Sweet Thai chili and parm garlic were good. Artichoke dip was very good, even for being picked up. Still nice and hot. Definitely try this place if you’re looking for a great place for wings! Will be going back to try more stuff!

The food is pretty good and the place was busy. Good size portions for the money also!

I used to come here a long time ago and then it closed. But now it looks like it is thriving again. Will be coming back with friends for dinner. Check it out!

Had the walleye dinner, and it was great. Others in my party had the fish fry, and that was also excellent. The Friday cocktail specials are house wiskey and brandy old fashions and Manhattans ($5.00)

It has been many years since I've been to Cullom Knoll. I was very impressed with the service,the all you can eat fish fry was great large sizes, The only thing to note is the potatoes pancakes could have a larger shredded hash brown consistency.

1st time visit and not at all disappointed.
Our server Kim made our visit quite enjoyable.
The menu is not overcomplicated like some places, yet there is something for everyone. Beer choices met my satisfaction. The ambiance of the place is very casual. I know I will be back to try more of the menu items.
Personally I think it's understaffed. Our server was constantly on the move trying to keep up with the customers.
Pros: Hamburger, Broiled Cod Dinner.
Con: Potato Pancake.

Employees and patrons are very friendly to new faces. Our bartender Becca was very friendly and vivacious.

Been here 2 times Friday fish fry now taco Tuesday very good food nice waitres little drive for me living in Hebron but worth the effort. Nice job guys be back on Thursday. Best place around

We had a group of 10, and our waiter was excellent. We couldn't have asked for better. The food was good and reasonable

Pizzas were a special when we went. We got two 12 inch BLT pizzas and a burger and boneless chicken wing app. Everything was awesome ! the price was awesome ! We got out for around 45 ish .. we will be returning for sure !

First time there and our expectations were far exceeded! The Pizza was incredible; hot out of the oven, super crispy, freshly kneaded dough and delicious toppings. Waitress was the extremely friendly, helpful and attentive! We will be back - this place is a hidden gem! Highly recommend.
