Holiday Inn Express & Suites Alpena - Downtown, an IHG Hotel

Very clean, nice new hotel in the middle of downtown Alpena. This hotel sits in a great location, for fish and sight seeing the lake, it's very convenient and I would highly recommend it to anyone whom is traveling through for a quick stop, this breakfast was awesome!!!

Absolutely the best check-in experience of my life. The attendant was hilarious and friendly and quick. She started with a joke and instantly disarmed me and literally left me wanting to be her best friend.

The rooms are clean, very large, and did I mention VERY CLEAN?!!! Love the coffee pot and that it uses pods, love the lotions and soaps in the bathroom, love the lighting, love the location. Nothing bad to say. This makes the Hampton Inns I’ve been staying in for weeks look like the Super 8.

Clean and comfortable king suite with modern fixtures and utilities. Bed was cozy and the hotel breakfast was delicious with different selections each morning! (Always an egg, meat and extra hot breakfast choice, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, cereal, yogurt, fruit etc). Location is right along Thunder Bay River within walking distance of the Maritime History Museum (walking path along the river!) and multiple restaurants downtown. Great location and facility, overall satisfied with our stay.

Great Hotel. It’s modern, clean, well cared for. Right on the river with a river walk out back. Right in town, 4 minute walk to the city shops. Very close to Thunder Bay, 10 minute walk. Service was excellent. Breakfast was delicious all three days in a row. We had 5 in our room and had plenty of space even with the couch pulled out, to enjoy the room.

Only down side was our room wasn't ready when we got there. Check in was at 3 we got there at 530. The room was great though. Best space for a hotel room I have been to

Good location near downtown and right on the river. Locals were fishing near the parking lot. Rooms were nice and newer.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here over the weekend. And we had a wonderful stay the staff were so nice and if and questions we had they were so nice about that. The pool was very fun. Wish there was a hot tub but it’s just as nice. Our room was very clean and comfortable to be in. We had a great view outside our window. The breakfast was wonderful there was an older man serving breakfast and it was so fresh and it was clean out in the room where you can sit. Love the tvs in there. Very pleasant stay we had. The front desk was very helpful and we will be coming back here. Thank you. Nice overall experience with your hotel.

Clean comfortable rooms in a great location. We walked to dinner where there were many options and did the same for a cup of coffee before we left. Friendly staff. We had a nice stay.

Nice hotel right on the river. Nice close walking path by the river. Nice outside patio. Rooms are spacious. Clean facilities. The pool is small but clean and on the cooler side. The breakfast was okay...they didn't have all the things like they usually have at Holiday Inns; the cinnamon rolls were missing, there was no bacon, no oat meal and only one muffin flavor. The coffee was alright. The juices were good. The omelets were good.

Great hotel, the team stays here every year! The rooms are spacious and clean, very open with everything you need to organize and work. The bathrooms are top notch, hot

Room had light-colored furnishings and was clean, spacious, and quiet. Helpful, polite, friendly receptionist. A hand-written welcome sign greeted us and there was a racially inclusive, ‘We’re here to help you feel comfortable’, sign by Holiday Inn Express. Sunrise made a colorful sky seen through big windows in the breakfast room.

Four of us stayed here 10 days ago and it was wonderful. Excellent location; right on the water and easy walk to downtown. Both rooms were clean and comfortable and very good breakfast service. Highly recommend.

Our flights were canceled and we chose to stay here. I’m so happy we did! AMAZING staff! Especially the hotel manager. He immediately offered legos for my young daughter, a late check out the next day after I explained our flight changes, as well as pizza! Yes he purchased some for his staff and offered my family and I some too! I highly recommend this hotel. Service, amenities with a great workout room, pool, and lobby!

Clean as always! Staff was very friendly and the room was impeccable. We always look for Holiday inn express when we travel because they are reliably clean and the beds are comfy. The breakfast is better than any chain hotel out there, it's hot and a decent level of variety. Would recommend this hotel to visitors in Alpena!

This hotel is the nicest hotel in Alpena. Right on the river with easy access to a boardwalk that takes you around an island. Close to downtown with a ton of dining options within walking distance. A decent gym on site and delicious breakfast

Wonderful stay every time. The rooms are clean, there is a long walking path along the water that starts adjacent the property, and the staff are exceptionally helpful. Most notably the assistant GM, Melissa, who went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant stay for my family. Highly recommended.

Amanda is why my stay was awesome. We always try and stay at a Holiday Inn Express. You know what to expect. I've never been disappointed. But today I was wowed. With Covid they don't clean your room everyday. No big deal. When I got back to my room I called the front desk to ask for a few items I could pick up. The girl on the phone said I'll bring those right up to you. Well thank you. She was so kind. Wouldn't accept a tip and even went back to get me coffee cream for in the morning. Amanda is amazing!!

Clean and updated hotel with very friendly staff! Will definitely stay there again when in Alpena area. Great location with paved trail along the River and walking distance to shops, and restaurants. Great location for bike riding along trails and close to the North Eastern State Trail. Staff and management was especially helpful in returning the items I forgot in my room.

Came here after a disastrous stay at the Ramada down the street. This hotel is beautiful. Its clean,modern, the staff are friendly and helpful,the beds are comfortable, the view is amazing and i would absolutely go back to stay here. We loved it so much we ended up extending our trip an extra day and even booking an additional room for our kids which they accommodated without hesitation.

Recommend this hotel hands down! They were extremely accommodating. We had a wedding that began early afternoon an hour away from the hotel was able to get checked in early. The rooms were very clean, modern/up to date, beds comfy, and staff were very helpful with suggestions around town. Also the view of it right on the water was a added bonus!
