El Tejaban Mexican Grill

I'm an elderly woman who has been to many different restaurants in the Twin Cities area. El Tejaban Mexican Grill is the best I have eaten in. Friendly staff that is upbeat, and you can hear laughter and fun at each table/booth the wait staff is at. Also, the place to take a date and sit in a little hideaway or large groups. Generous servings of mouth watering food.

It’s a restaurant in a strip mall that could use a little interior updating but it was clean, service was friendly and quick and the food was tasty. We had the Birria tacos and Tres Amigo enchiladas with carnitas and both were really good. Meat was seasoned really well and a lot of it in both entrees. The consommé had an interesting flavor. I liked it, just different than what I’m used to. Rice and beans were your standard but they were nice and hot. We’ll definitely be back.

The standard of Mexican food in the Twin Cities is pretty low, but this place is well, well above the local baseline. Deserves a far higher rating, and if you read some of the negative reviews, you’ll quickly understand that they’re written by absolute morons. Been coming here for about five years and never had a bad experience. On my last visit, they had a separate Oaxacan mini-menu - try that!

Best Mexican food I have eaten so far. Excellent service, next level food. The flavors were authentic and the service was above and beyond. Fish, chicken fajita, tacos, nachos everything was amazing. And the ice cream with curls at the end was a cherry on top.

Absolutely amazing! This is my favorite restaurant in MN. This place is beautiful and staff are super friendly. Food is delicious. You get a lot of food as well for the price, definitely not like other expensive restaurants. Overall dining experience is very pleasant. I highly recommend this restaurant! (My all time favorite “Camarones Maria la Diabla”)

Great authentic Mexican food. Servers were super friendly and food was spectacular. Loved their spicy salsa.

Get the birria tacos. The tortillas are crisp and flavorful, the beef is super tender, and the consomme has a flavor that will make even the pickiest of eaters smile.

Best of the twin cities for authentic Mexican. Always have to get enchiladas with rice and beans. Only $11. Huge menu offerings unlike many of the new tacos only places. Full bar. Great atmosphere. Attentive service.

Food is DELICIOUS. Service is amazing. They had a line out the door before they opened.

As mentioned, we came back! The food is still awesome. We had the machete again and asada fries this time. Both tasted great.

This place what is what I would describe as one of those hole in the wall amazing hidden gems.
We had two margaritas each the jumbo chicken wings and machete. It was all fairly priced and absolutely delicious.

We really liked the three different salsa dips that were all homemade in-house.

We will be back for sure!

First time here. We both loved our food. Great service. Definitely will be back.

They are super willing to customize your food to your liking, they even ask you if you want every thing on it that's listed on the menu. The food came so fast and was so well spiced!

Could not recommend this great family restaurant anymore! We’ve been coming here for years and although the service can be fast or slow, the food is always delicious. Highly recommend their Camerones Botaneros, the Enchiladas, Cecina, their Molcajete bowls and Birria Street Tacos. Don’t FORGET the Fried Ice Cream for dessert! Margaritas are always tasty and even better when they’re 2-1s.

On top, I’ve had them cater a few events for up to 50 and it’s always been excellent and delicious as if you’re at the restaurant. They give you everything you need from salsas, limes, napkins to utensils. I guarantee you’ll have extras!!

Tequila mexican grill is one if not the best authentic Mexican/Ecuatorian Food, for its fresh flavored food. Customer service is at its Best. They also have DJ on weekends ! Defitnely a place to visit. Highly recomended!

Hands down, the best Mexican restaurant for miles. Great vibes, solid service, fantastic food! Not much else to say about it.

We've had quite a few good experiences here. The food is reasonably priced, tastes good, and they are able to handle a lot of people.

The only slight suggestion I would give would be to the servers/owners. The servers tend to leave their tables for a long time. I an unsure how many tables they have to look over but it can be a little bit of a wait to get a drink/check.

Super friendly staff with a great atmosphere. Very clean. The food and cocktails are were very delicious. Asked for recommendations from the waiter and wasn’t disappointed. We had a steak special off the grill. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in Minneapolis. I will definitely be back- want to check out the karaoke on the weekends!
