Community Veterinary Center

Everyone at the community veterinary center are wonderful when it comes to caring for animals. I trust Dr. John Leahy completely With the care of my dog Sadie, and my cat C.J. He always takes the time to talk to you, making sure you understand what's going on.

The compassion that the entire staff showed me and my pup as he passed and then even weeks later has been nothing less then Unreal!
They helped me understand as much of what was going on as possible and then explained what options and alternatives we had to make the best and hardest choices.

I dont think I'd take another pet anywhere else

Each veterinarian is very thorough and they never rush with us. They go over options and come up with a plan. They listene to us and examine our dog thoroughly. As always, the vet techs are professional and very curtious. The office staff is just the best. They are very accommodating and aware. It isn't easy to find a vetrinary practice that is good with people AND with animals. CVC is both. I've felt this way every bit of my 20 years going there. They are a family and I'm part of it.

Highly recommend. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and kind. My experiences with Dr. Leahy(s) and Dr. Baker have been top notch. I wouldn't take my pups any where else.

I am so grateful my dog is a patient at community vet. Everyone here is incredible, from the receptionist to the veterinarians. The quality and continuity of care here is unmatched.

Our visit today with Dr. Leahy Sr. was our first and it was absolutely surprising…
Dr.Leahy truly is warm, caring, compassionate,intelligent, friendly and wonderful to be around ..and knowing that your fur baby is in the hands of someone that is capable and caring and really is concerned about doing the right thing
for the well-being of your family member.
Especially after seeing how my little beagle warmed up to
Dr. Leahy after five minutes of him showing her a lil love.. she actually
melted right into his arms and chest as to be giving him a hug 🤗 that really made me feel like I knew that she knew that she was in the right hands 🙏🏻
we have been at community vet for 3 to 4 years now and our last vet has retired and so we are blessed to now be taken care of by Dr. Leahy. I hope to have many many more visits with Dr. Leahy for our little Girl “Penny love” and our Boy “Prince Lorenzo”
…. also during our visit we had a new assistant (sorry can’t remember her name)
But, she is a peach very welcoming very warm and so sweet I hope that she stays for a long time.
Community Veterinary office is very wonderful there may be a couple of people out there that have other opinions but I come from Sleepy Hollow New York and I have been to some of the best vets they have to offer in Westchester County New York and comparing to a couple of other vets near Oneonta New York I would recommend Dr. Leahy and his staff 100% !!
Not only did he show compassion for my Girl 🐶but he made me feel cared for and understanding as Her Mamma ☺

My kitty became very sick and I was concerned about the outcome. CVC made time to see him so he could be evaluated, medicated and set on a path to recovery. I always feel the CVC staff cares deeply for pets and their pet parents.

I am not a client of CVC, but when I needed my dog to be seen, they were so nice and gracious to get him in before they closed. Intake was quick and efficient, and Dr. Leahy (John) was great - explained everything clearly & easily. I would most definitely not hesitate to use CVC again.

I was greeted quickly by not one, but 2 different people before my dog was seen. Vet tech was extremely caring and respected my pups space when he was nervous getting on the scale. Vet was extremely knowledgeable and very thorough with his diagnosis. My dog was treated quickly and gently. My pup usually barks and growls but he didn't make a sound and was laying calmly on the floor after being seen.
I will be bringing all 4 of my pups here going forward!

My sister brought her Shitsu to Community Vet Center with an emergency appointment yesterday. She is so thankful for Dr. Ostrander and Dr. Leahy who saved Brody's life!! We will be forever grateful!!

We bring all of our animals to Community Vet and have always been pleased! We have seen most of the different doctors for different things over the years. Each of them is wonderful, caring and dedicated to doing the best for our critters! Our “Old Man Cat” would especially like to thank Dr. John Leahy for helping his old bones feel better!

This past summer we adopted a malnourished rescue from Oklahoma City with a bad knee. My cousin recommended Dr. David Leahy and she was spot on. Dr. Leahy and his staff are wonderful. We travelled from Saratoga Springs with our Jade and Dr. David repaired her knee perfectly. Prior to surgery, Dr. Leahy called when he received the xrays from our local veterinarian. We spoke for a at least a half hour. Who does that in today's world. I can't say enough about Dr. Leahy, his nurse Robin and all the staff at Community Veterinary. Our Jade no longer runs on three legs. She flies around our backyard and loves every minute of her new life. Thank you Dr. Leahy and all your wonderful staff. I would recommend travelling to Oneonta to anyone whose pet needs expert orthopedic care.

I've been bringing my cats there for a lot of years, and the level of care, concern and knowledge is phenomenal ! And what a treat it was to work with Dr. Leahy again. I'll never go anywhere else.

I recently got my Great Pyrenees spayed at community vet and I can’t recommend them enough! I was very nervous and apprehensive going in, but one conversation with the surgeon put me totally at ease. I actually booked a tent site down the road, rather than drive home and back in the morning, and by the time I set up camp I received the phone call telling me that everything went great! The incision was so small and the hardest part of her recovery was keeping her from getting too wild and hurting herself. They’re all very professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They really understand how much a member of the family our pets are.

I know I tend to have irrational fears concerning my pets after having an epileptic dog ruin my pet owning confidence (if that makes an sense lol), they're always so insanely helpful and get me in as soon as they can (same day usually if I'm extra worried). Phenomenal vet care, and I couldn't be happier with how I'm treated there. Like a normal person and not an insane person for every little issue I have lol

Dr.Leahy was wonderful with our scared pup. He has a way with animals. Answered all our questions. Love the late hours so it's easy to come after work. The staff is so friendly and nice!

It's a shame what happened to your dog but before it happened all your reviews seem to be one star, possibly you're a very unhappy person. to not give community vet in otego on route 7 a good review you have the problem they put up with me and that's a lot to put up with but when it comes to my kids my animals their well-being and their care they're extremely compassionate well-versed articulate and as flexible as they can be . I brought one of my dogs in an emergent situation they are not an ER and they stop doing whatever they were doing to attend him I love community vet .and so do most people Ithey give you charges upfront no surpriseshope your mom and your husband have more than 1 star

Our dog has digestive problems and this is the only Vet to take this seriously. Glad to report that he is stable now and happy. They helped our boy so much!!!!
