I had given up on birthday cake due to very bad bloating. I have gotten accustomed to just watching everyone else eat cake at celebrations. This year I turned 40 and it just seemed wrong to not have a cake even if all I ate was a razor thin slice and paid a price for it. I ordered the cake and picked it up from Alex. I told her she IS THE gluten free and vegan cake maker in STL and she told me it is her mission for everyone to be able to have cake. I almost teared up when she said this - I have been so isolated from so many things due to dietary restrictions. It is so incredible to have someone care so much and work so hard to make food so I can be included - any food I can eat is good, but her cakes are DELICIOUS. PUNCH LINE: Alex's cake didn't make me bloated! This is a small miracle. I LOVED her cake and I felt great after eating it. I could hug Alex right now!

I didn't want a super sugary cake and she recommended her pumpkin cake. Oh my god it was good! A 6 in, 3 layer cake - it looked small but it was so dense and thick it lasted 3 people over a week... LOL. It was the weight of a bowling ball. My parents and husband are not restricted with their diets and they loved the cake. I was prepared to have cake I could eat, but I was not prepared for everyone to also love it and not just put up with it. The cherry on top! :-D

Top Favorite Things to Note:
1. Alex's flour doesn't have almonds in it like the other bakeries in town (I am allergic to almonds).
2. You can request soy-free icing (she makes it with coconut instead and it just requires more vigilant refrigeration). The icing was SO GOOD.
3. At the time of this review, Alex takes a 7 day advance custom cake order (especially if you request soy-free icing) and you can pick it up at the shop between 10 am & 2 pm. Note: this is a two-woman show and so you coordinate a time to pick it up - there is no store front with extra staff (like some of the other review photos seem to show - the windows are papered over right now and they bring the cake out to your car when you pull up). Leave a few days to coordinate on cake type and size, etc via email or phone for the easiest experience. They are super helpful with questions and suggestions if you don't know what to do. She said she is working on a more detailed website but until then you can just work out flavors, icings, etc. She can do pretty much anything you want.
4. She very graciously accommodated my husband's request for way more text than any sane person would think might fit on a cake. (see photo. Thank you, Alex 😉)
5. You can sample her cosmic brownies (see photo), cookie cakes, muffins, cupcakes, breads, etc. at Fresh Thyme in the Foundry location in St. Louis. At the time of this writing she delivers on Fridays in the early afternoon and either Sunday or Monday. So check those days/times for fresh stock. My parents and I loved the cosmic brownies! They are mildly sweet with an amazing chocolate flavor. We'll be trying the cookie cake next.

It's amazing to go in a bakery and be able to allow my child to pick a treat without having to ask about ingredients or tell him something isn't safe to eat due to his allergies. Amazing baked goods, wonderful staff, and the cutest store. I cant wait to go back!

Alex was awesome to work with! I bought the 8 inch cake for 15 people and we had plenty left over. Delicious cake and all around amazing experience. We will be using them for future parties!

My wife has been vegan for over 11 years and we were so incredibly excited when we found PP when we were looking for wedding cake options. Let me tell you, the cake that PP made was not only stunningly beautiful but absolutely DELICIOUS!! All of our guests at the wedding loved the cake and could not believe that it was vegan and gluten free! We live out of state so were unable to do a cake tasting but opted for the lavender cake with vanilla bean buttercream and it was to die for! Alex and the entire team at PP are so easy to work with and are wonderful! 1,000,000 stars!

We discovered PP at a wedding show, and ever since, they were at the top of my list. We ordered a wedding cake through them twice! The first time was to celebrate our original wedding date after we postponed, and then again for our actual wedding this past November. Kathleen helped me both times and was so easy to talk to - super friendly, responsive, & accommodating!
We ordered a cake and several cupcakes for our wedding. Our cake was mocha with espresso icing, and it was absolutely delicious. I would order this combination again. Our guests, and even the wedding staff, couldn’t stop talking about it. Several people didn’t even realize it was GF & vegan! Love this bakery!

I tried Prioritized Pastries with my best friend, and we’re both gluten and dairy-free. These were by far the best pastries I had ever eaten! The flavors and textures were spot-on, and I never would’ve known they were gluten and dairy-free. I would recommend them to anyone, whether they have dietary restrictions or not! Thank you all for making such amazing pastries for us highly sensitive gals with stomach issues!

We ordered a baby shower cake for an employee. From the start they were attentive, responded to all of my communications in a timely manner, and the cake was delicious! We got the confetti dough and oh my goodness it was a big hit. They fulfilled all of our GF and Vegan needs here at our office. We will definitely be ordering from them again!

Alex and Kathleen are absolutely wonderful and amazing!! They serve up delicious goodies every week!! It used to be nearly impossible to find allergy friendly pastries until we found Prioritized Pastries. We can’t go a weekend without them!!

An amazing place to get sweets if you have any specific dietary restrictions/needs. It's not easy finding good vegan and gluten free baked goods, but this is the place to go! Super friendly and fun people working their. Don't pass on the sugar free lemon bar, that one surprised me with how good it was. The oatmeal cookie pie is definitely another one to try. I just wish they were closer to where I live, then I'd be in there daily!

I cannot say enough amazing things about Alex and Kathleen! We have been getting desserts from them since we moved to Missouri. Most recently our daughter just had her first birthday and I’ve never seen a baby go after a cake like she did!

Phenomenal combination of quality people and quality product. We thoroughly enjoyed every item that we got! The oatmeal cream pies might have changed my life, they’re that good. I fully recommend this bakery to everyone, dietary restrictions or not, you will not be disappointed.

Got a super cute smash cake for our one year old who has milk and egg allergies. Not only did he love the cake but all of our party guests loved the cupcakes that we got too! They have great customer service and I could not recommend them more!

Vegan cake in a peanut free bakery. The cake was amazing: dulce de leche, chocolate ganache filing, salted caramel buttercream frosting. The ganache was so chocolatey and rich. The buttercream was the best I've ever eaten. The decoration was joyful for my birthday. Just a great experience.

My family circle includes a lot of celiac folks & it was always more than a little bit stressful finding something everyone could eat--that didn't taste like cardboard (don't laugh--it's true). I was SO HAPPY to meet Alex at a Tower Grove Farmers Market booth a few years back--our relationship has now cemented into her being my go-to dessert person. Apparently I'm not the only one with gluten-free people in my circle because her business has now morphed into a storefront shop, too. I love having a local, woman-owned business to support. Keep up the good work, Prioritized Pastries! I'll always be a fan. :)

The only vegan and gluten free bakery in town! Everything taste like it was made of butter and milk yet isn't! Highly recommend giving it a try, especially if you've previously had cardboard tasting treats and want to give it a shot again

Best allergy-friendly bakery in STL! My wife and I have come back time and time again for about a year now, and everything is SO good. Highly recommend the oreos, chocolate chip cookies, and cake.

Cannot say enough great things about this bakery! Alex was WONDERFUL to work with and helped me achieve a somewhat bizarre smash cake request for my son's first birthday. She was great at communicating and even ended up delivering the cake to my house bc you know, I'm a working mom of a 1 yr old. Oh, and the cake was YUMMY!

When picking up an order from these folks the other day, I saw a review that didn't feel quite accurate and made me sad. So I wanted to contribute my own! I absolutely love Prioritized Pastries. It can be difficult here in STL to find food that is not only plant based, but also allergy friendly — and Prioritized Pastries does that perfectly. Although it can be really difficult to get allergy-friendly baked goods to be similar to their conventional counterparts, I've found that Prioritized Pastries generally strikes this balance very well.

Went this morning for the grand opening and tried several things! They all tasted wonderful and the environment was super friendly. Will definitely be back soon!
