Fiddlehead Fern Cafe

After coming home from a late-night shift, I wanted to try a new coffee shop. I found this place, which was only a few minutes drive from my apartment, and so I drove here. It had plenty of good reviews, so I wanted to see what the hype is all about, and I'm always exploring new shops I can find in STL. The location of this place is within walking distance from the Botanic Garden. I parked my car on the street as it was only street parking, and I walked to the shop. The shop itself is a vibe. The atmosphere is inviting, and there are plenty of tables and seats to choose from, although, when I arrived this morning, it was packed and busy since it's the weekend and it is almost the end of the year.

I ordered a salted caramel latte and two pastries: vanilla ube and cheese Danish. Out of all the places I've been to, like coffee shop-wise, this place has the best pastries to go with your coffee. I'm impressed by how delicious and flaky the pies I've tried. I'll return here and dine in next time instead of taking my orders.

This place is a hidden treasure of the neighborhood, and I can tell why!

Great spot for coffee, avo toast, and/or a pastry. Even better when the weather is good enough to sit outside. A short wait to order and receive your order, but worth it.

NOT recommended to work or read a book, as people are aggressively trying to get seating throughout the day.

Best Croissants in St. Louis! One of my fav places to sit and work for a bit, but be aware there’s almost no charging ports.
Other than that, easily my fav coffee shop in stl. The baked goods are delicious, the drinks are amazing and made with lots of love. (The only drink I don’t recommend is their matcha)
Atmosphere is great, lots of natural light and the staff are all very friendly and kind.

Best coffee shop in town hands down. During weekends it gets a bit busy but tables turn over pretty quickly. Their toasts are 10/10. I think it’s a perfect weekend breakfast spot to catch up with friends or go on a solo date

I found this adorable Cafe on Instagram, and they did not disappoint. The cinnamon roll was The Best I have EVER had. I highly recommend the avocado toast. The cold brew was also very good! 10/10

Huge gravel patio available during the summer. A few seats in the shade. Dog friendly. They offer blueprint coffee. Specialized in toasts. No hot food but you can add a hard boiled egg. The cookie was absolutely fabulous. On a quiet street, no problem finding parking.

Love to come here to relax and enjoy coffee & pastries. Only downside is they only have one electric plug for customers to access from tables. Not ideal place to remote work. But a nice place to just relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Everything is always fresh and delicious. You can’t go wrong with whatever you choose. I love the lattes, or just coffee. The shrub cocktails cannot be beat. They give so much attention to detail. Their avocado toast was the best I’ve ever had. Salads are so tasty and healthy. Perfect vibe too.

I’m surprised it took me this long to try this place. If you’re looking for a healthier alternative for brunch, go here. I tried their quiche, avocado toast and a coffee cake. Everything was so good.

Absolute gem of a place. Offers a lot of options for those who are vegan and even gluten free. Plus their cocktails are absolutely delicious. They have seasonal coffee and tea flavors available. Their food items are somewhat limited but still very good. They do have outdoor seating, and most of it is in sunlight so even on chilly days you can warm yourself up.

Indoor space is limited and if you find yourself wanting to go there on a more chilly day, make sure you get there early because it's likely all tables will be taken.

The vibe here is so female and it is awesome. I didn't see a male employee, and seeing women doing it all felt so empowering. 💪Idk if this was a coincidence or their business model but it set a great tone for me while I was there.
The coffee was delicious and well executed. The avocado toast was a delightful mix of fresh, savory and a tiny bit sweet. The laminated cinnamon roll was a dream come true. ❤

Love this amazing space nestled in a beautiful neighborhood. Food was delightful and delicious and the atmosphere and service just as welcoming.

Food and drink were great. The space is small so it was confusing at first ordering and getting a table.

Tge atmosphere of this place is adorable. The staff was also very sweet and helpful . I could not make up my mind so I got a Carmel latte and a tea to go. The tea is made with Japanese purple sweet potatoe ( hence the color). The dessert was warm, creamy and delicious! I can't wait to stop by again on my next drive through St Louis.

Absolutely amazing pastries, toasts, and drinks! The Moon Goddess Tea Latte was an absolute star, and all of the pastries and toasts were so good! We loved the goat cheese and tomato toast, as well as the brie and apple one!

I believe that growing up in the St. Louis Shaw neighborhood was different from any other. The ambiance of this neighborhood gave it a unique vibe where a community can come together. The owner of Fiddlehead Fern not only grew up in the neighborhood and chose this location as a reason to bring affluence to it, but captured her very own unique essence to offer the residents as an addition to the community. I was privileged to work here for a short time while temporarily living in St. Louis. Not only was the team managed and run with positive encouragement and motivation but with attention to detail and critique that was never belittling. The warm, clean, friendly charm of the atmosphere allows for all the regular customers to come in and spend time with friends, read or get some work done while enjoying great quality food, coffee, tea or more in a relaxing environment. Even on the weekends the Cafe has successfully staffed itself to keep up with the high demand of customers to keep things going fast paced while their guests listen to live music and take advantage of the cocktail specials. Resting in one of my favorite places in St. Louis right next to the Missouri Botanical Gardens and Tower Grove Park is now, by far, my favorite Cafe in St. Louis. Cheers Fiddlehead! Keep doing an excellent job!

Great vegan options.
The substantial list of avocado toast choices is great and many are vegan or easily made vegan.
They have a nice selection of juices and coffee along with many vegan sweets too.
Service is great and the friendly staff get the food out quickly.
There's a large outdoor seating area as well.

Looking for a place to have a lite breakfast and found a great spot. Coffees and toast combinations were perfect. Had the avocado toast and my mom had the roasted tomato and goat cheese toast. Their salads also looked amazing. Would recommend!
