Gay Gasper Estate Sales & Appraisals

My experience working with Gay Gasper has been terrific. I liked Gay from the first time I met her. She is a delight. She is professional, patient, honest and she explains everything clearly. She returns texts and phone calls in a timely manner. Her son is also a wonderful person to work with. She and her staff worked very hard to set up our estate sale. The sale was advertised and there were many beautiful photos on her website. There were a very large number of people at the sale and it was a success. After the sale, anything left was donated. The house was left in excellent condition after the sale. I cannot thank Gay enough for a wonderful experience from beginning to end.

Gay Gasper and her team ran an estate sale for us after our Mom passed. All of us live far from NC, and Gay made it easy and straightforward to deal with the situation. Every question we had, before and after the sale, she answered promptly and completely - we never felt out of touch or in the dark. Her team is well organized and they executed superbly on every facet of the job, from prep and advertising, to photography (outstanding!), sale set-up and day-of-sale. By the time they were done, the condo was broom clean, with unsold stuff of any value donated to a charity our Mom liked. I *highly* recommend you have Gay's team do the final post-sale cleanout - it's a bargain and a huge stress reliever. With all of us living out of state, they also saved us money and time since we do not need to travel back to NC again.

Gay provided excellent, detailed records of the sale, with over 800 line items recorded, each with an individual sale price, and another couple dozen line items recorded for the donations, including values and proper receipts for taxes. Her team is impeccably honest as well, texting us pictures and asking questions about items they found during the sale prep that we didn't even know were there. Her summary records were to the penny - she even included a line item for $4.63 of loose change she found. :-) We sought out Gay when we received recommendations from FOUR different people, two of whom we hadn't even asked. And we're so happy we listened.

In short, Gay Gasper Estate Sales turned what could have been a grueling, stressful and difficult exercise into a smooth, worry-free operation. We can't recommend Gay's team highly enough. If you're an executor, do your family and yourself a favor, and talk to Gay.

Gay always has great estate sales. They are very well-organized, items are priced reasonably and she and her friendly and knowledgeable staff are always willing to assist you in any way that they can. Whether it to be to wrap your items so they are not damaged, assist you with loading them in your vehicle or answering a question about a particular item. They are always happy and willing to assist you. Thankfully, Gay is a stickler about keeping the entry order into the sale in the same order as the sign-up list so everyone has a fair chance at getting that particular treasure they are seeking. She also does a fantastic job of photographing and posting pictures of a wonderful selection of what is offered at each sale. Great company and great job Gay. Keep on doing what you are doing!!!!!!!!!

Working with Gay and her staff was a wonderful experience. They are very professional and well organized as well as creative and artistic. They made our many pieces come together in an attractive and enticing way. Their knowledge of the market in our area was evident in their pricing. Things were priced to sell yet I felt we did very well financially. I would heartily recommend them if you are considering an estate/downsizing/tag sale. I can't imagine you could do better with any one else. We had a great experience working with them.

I attend many estate sales and have observed a variety of approaches and management styles; Gay’s are my favorite sales to attend. They are well organized and professionally run by a gracious woman.
She has developed a loyal customer following due to her friendly and courteous service and her reputation for being fair and honest.
She truly cares about doing a good job and always goes the extra mile (she even marks items “sold” on the internet listing at the end of the day).
P.S. - she brings cookies for her customers and always thanks us for coming.

On a big Saturday, I go to the Gay Gasper sales first because they are so well run! Clean, well organized, lots and lots of photos, well managed access. Most importantly to me, Gay's team updates all the pictures after day 1 of the sale to indicate what sold already. That's so thoughtful! No crushing disappointment when you get there to see the treasure you wanted, gone!

I had been to a number of Gay's estate sales so it was an easy decision to use her for our downsizing sale. What a perfect decision that turned out to be. We had mountains of "stuff" which she organized and showed to its best. Her organization skills paid off handsomely. I highly recommend her to anyone thinking of having a sale. And going to her sales is always a treat.

Our family is so grateful for Gay, her son and team. We enjoyed working with them very much. Our experience was wonderful and they couldn't have been more helpful and kind. So much hard work , time, and care was given to our project. Really appreciate the professionalism, communication, honesty and patience. I was continually impressed. Gay's professionalism and expertise made a potentially very difficult process so much easier. I felt very comfortable in her knowledgeable hands. Several friends who used other services were very disappointed in their results. I''m thrilled I discovered Gay. Our sale was much more successful than I'd imagined.

I was handling an estate sale for relative as an out of state trustee. Gay was recommended highly to me as a person who would handle all details and I mean all details and get it done in a timely fashion. She provide the estate with a detailed and extremely professional appraisal. She organized the sale within two weeks and netted us more money than we estimated. She took several other items to an auction house to maximize their value. She provided us with documented value for items that didn't sell and were donated. She cleaned the house up so we could put on the market with in two weeks.
If you want efficient, prompt professional handling of the disposition of a state, Gay is your girl.

Gay Gas recently conducted an estate sale for us. She was absolutely fantastic. She said "I will take care of everything" and she did. She advertised the sale, displayed our items professionally, and sold most of them.
Those that were not sold were donated to charity. The house was immaculate when she left.
Shortly thereafter, we were given an itemized list of the items and sales prices, a check, and a list of donated items with a receipt. We were thrilled and highly recommend her service.

friendly warm atmosphere with reasonable price. Willingness to help carry heavier items to car is great. This company manages to have a large interesting variety of quality items. Going to a Gay Gaspar estate sale is sometimes like visiting a foreign country with collections of art, kitchen items, books, and well cared for items from the past/ The is an array of amazing quality furniture,,,.just that bookcase or desk etc that fits your needs. Don't miss the garage either because you will be surprised how useful tools can be found there.

Gay handled our estate sale perfectly. I am on the other side of the country but dealing with her remotely was a piece of cake. She is the ultimate professional, appraiser and organizer. She even found a bag of jewelry including a ring worth about $5000 that I didn't even know existed. If you need someone to handle an estate sale, pick up the phone and call Gay. You'll be delighted.

I completely agree with previous 5 star reviews: Gay is professional, knowledgeable, responsive, efficient, patient, and a pleasure to work with. She referred us to services specific to a range of needs as we cleared our parents' apartment after our father's death. We only heard of Gay's extensive services late in the process - I wish that we had found her earlier! I strongly recommend contacting Gay at the beginning of what sometimes seemed like an overwhelming project.

What impressed us about working with Gay:

Gay’s knowledge of her market: she was excellent at being able to forecast what would meet buyers’ wants and what would not. Most of us probably value items we own and are willing to let go in a different way than Gay who knows the market. In some cases, things have a different value to us because we know what they cost and, in others, how much we value them. We would not have known how to correctly judge the market.

Advice for those downsizing:

Only keep what you really value and remember memories are important to value.

We didn’t look at the prices before and, while we were surprised at what items did and did not bring, in the end we didn’t miss a thing. The sale will be as good as the time and effort you put into deciding what you really want around in a smaller place.
