Mama Dip's Kitchen

Highly recommend this restaurant. Homemade, comfort, country, delicious food! The servers was excellent. We had a variety of food on our plate and all of it was delicious. The decorations was so calm and welcomed. You definitely cannot go wrong eating here!!

Our party had: Appetizers- Fried veggie appetizers, which were hot and excellent; sweet potato biscuits, which were not hot/warm and were not baked/made, or, topped with butter. Entrees- fried steak, Mac & cheese, mashed potatoes/gravy and turnip greens, which all were barely warm but tasty; Stew beef with rice, (eater said was not seasoned) and the beef gravy was very starchy; ribs and fried chicken (both eaters stated were good); Grilled cheese and fries (eater said was good). Deserts- We all tasted each others deserts. Eater did not like the Sweet potato pie and Peach cobbler was okay…but if both were made with butter, they would’ve been better, perhaps; Chocolate cake was good: Chocolate pecan pie was scrumptious; Banana pudding was okay. Ice cream was good, per the kiddos. Waitress was attentive.Brought out condiments before we could ask👍🏿. Very friendly staff. Overall, very good meal experience for the group of picky adults and kiddos. BTW, the restroom was CLEAN. I’ve only experienced clean restrooms in Chapel Hill restaurants at the Carolina Inn, and Stoney River…

Food was very delicious! I ordered the Half Fried Chicken with greens and fried okra along with fried pickles. My girlfriend ordered the country fried steak and it was all amazing! Parking isn't the easiest as it is located in the more urban area of Chapel Hill. Staff was friendly which is always a plus but the restaurant needed some music as it was awquardly quiet. Still would recommend this place to anyone!

Yes sirrrr!! This is an excellent soul food establishment! Great atmosphere and the food definitely hit the spot! The staff is extremely warm and friendly (not in a creepy way but in a welcoming way), and it added much more value in my dining experience. Come here to “get your fix.” My family will definitely be coming back!

The food at Mama Dip's is out of this world delicious. The staff was quite awkward. Remember servers and supporting staff, your attitude and how you treat your guests, is a large part of the dining experience. I will be back soon and would love to update this review in a more positive light.

We went as a group yesterday evening and loved our experience. The food was absolutely delicious and everyone loved what they got (including our vegetarian). I had the chicken livers which were cooked perfectly. At the end we had strawberry shortcake which was divine and hands down the best I've ever had. The staff was super friendly and kind. Overall an excellent experience and we can't wait to return next time we are on town!

We had a wonderful lunch at Mama Dip’s restaurant. The fried chicken was moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. The macaroni and cheese was delicious, as were the yams, rice and gravy, and green beans. The chicken pastry was excellent. Save room for the chocolate peanut butter pie!

Everything was great, I think the fried chicken needed some seasoning in the batter . The pecan pie was delicious, and lemonade was delicious . Service was extremely friendly , and decorations were very down-to-earth country style. I love it. ❤ The server was very knowledgeable and friendly with a smile 😃.

My son always gets excited when I tell him that he has an appointment at UNC because he knows that means we are going to Mama Dips! Usually, before I visit a restaurant whether I have been there 10 times or 2 I will check the online reviews. I saw several reviews mentioning that the food was not as tasty as normal. I was a little hesitant but still decided to go.
Let's just say....I am not sure what was happening on the days that the negative reviewers came to visit, but whoever was in the kitchen during our visit was on point. Everything was delicious!
The green beans were canned but I honestly didn't mind...that was the only thing that wasn't seasoned. Something not pictured that I ordered was the squash casserole which was divine!
The dessert really ended our meal on a marvelous note, I had the peach shortcake and my son had the cream cheese pound cake. We left with our bellies full and in the words of my late great-grandmother....we have dined sufficiently!
We will definitely be back and continue to support this business.

Classic country feel and amazing home cooked southern food. I always feel at home here and leave with a full belly and a take-out box! Chicken and dumplins on a cold rainy day will make everything in your life perfect! Grab a slice of pie or a cobbler too!

So delicious. Definitely hard to avoid gluten here which is challenging but I would say it is worth it.

The service was great, atmosphere was very nice. Had a great selection of food choices. Everything was cooked to satisfaction. Definitely go again and bring a friend.

For the absolute best in home cooking try Mama dips, the breaded gravy covered pork chops are out of this world, everything tast so fresh. And the sweet tea is perfect. There is no canned vegetables here. Only cooked fresh to perfection. And their apple cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream whew hmmmm good, their pecan pie #1 Good Morning America. Folks this place is it. Great for family or wouing you lady for that hot date.

Food is amazing and very tasty. Home cooking at its best. Little price, portions are small vs price. Free parking in the back.

Grea service. Great food. The catfish was delicious. The smothered pork chops we delicious. Our waiter was very attentive. He made sure our needs were met. We were seated in a timely manner. Mama Dip's reminded me of an old, timely diner you could find in Vermont and New Hampshire. I love these types of places.

We had our grandson's wedding rehearsal dinner here. The food was wonderful and the staff helped us celebrate this great occasion.

Best fried chicken! And as good as the fried chicken was, the cream cheese pound cake was absolutely delicious.
