Intrinsic Smokehouse Brewery + BBQ Catering

Someone recommended this place so we tried it while in Dallas. I absolutely loved this place from start to finish. The brisket was melt in your mouth good. They have 3 sauces you can try. We also got potato salad, and Mac and cheese which both were very good. They also sell whole pickles!

This adorable little place came highly recommended, as we are newer to the area and trying to find all the good spots. We had a puppy with us and they have a building that they allow dogs in with an open courtyard-type setup. There was also another building if you don't like dogs. The food was fresh, delicious, and very reasonable priced! The beer was also great and there were many options to choose from!

Texas barbecue SLAPS!! This is my first visit to the Lone Star state, and I wasn’t sure what to expect (coming from the Left Coast). What I’ve found so far is that the people are friendly, and the barbecue lives up to its reputation. Intrinsic is my first stop on this new food adventure, and it has set the bar high on good food! I got the two meat two sides plate, with: brisket, turkey, mac n cheese, and turnip greens. Loved all of it! I’m going to give a special shout out for the greens. You can see how good everything else is just by looking at the picture, but those poor humble turnip greens hiding in the back row were the flavor bomb surprise for me with their smoky butteriness and a kick of vinegar. EAT YOUR GREENS!

First time visit to this cool restaurant and brewery. Barbecue was damn good as well as all the sides. Very cool selection of brews on tap as well. Ambience was really relaxing and enjoyable, as you are wrapped around with old bricks, art deco style lights and cool art hanging throughout the restaurant. My only hope is for them to keep expanding and experimenting with Hazy New England style IPA’s 😉

I had the brisket sandwich and bacon pinto beans. Both were very tasty. $12.50 w/o drink. Place also is a brewery. They have an excellent stout.

Great atmosphere and food. Staff was friendly as well. Nice area out back where live bands can perform.

Friday sammich is awesome!! Philly Cheesesteak <3 best beans around (ask them to add pico) and good beer... happy Friday for me!!

First time at Intrinsic Smokehouse. We knew we had picked a great smokehouse when the line was almost to the front door. Had the Whole Hog sammich, turnip greens, potato salad, brisket, and Mac & cheese. Loved the sammich! It was so good. The turnip greens reminded me of my grandma's greens, delicious. Met an amazing lady that we shared a table with and had the best conversation. We will bring friends with us next time so they can enjoy Intrinsic as much as we did.

This was a great experience tonight! We attended a birthday party here where there was a live band, and it was completely open and completely social. All of the staff from the bar to the kitchen were exceptional! Everyone was so nice and kind and funny and polite. We had such an exceptional time. We were there for a birthday party but we ended up getting food at the restaurant and drinks at the bar. And every facet seem to know what to do. Nothing was lost. Nothing was given to the wrong person. There was no ill will or no attitude with anyone. Conversation flowed from the employees to the customers and it was such a relaxed atmosphere. It was very refreshing. I would definitely recommend this as a place to go and unwind. Have a drink have some lunch or have some dinner. They even have options for people like me who don’t eat meat. Absolutely phenomenal service from beginning to end! I had no idea that they actually brew their own beer on site. I had their red sangria and it was fantastic. I spoke with several people that had different types of beer and they were all satisfied. This is definitely a staple within the city and one that I really hope to see grow year after year.

Such a cute restaurant with some very good BBQ. They have some very good prices as well. I got a pork sandwich with coleslaw on top and I definitely recommend it. Very tender meat and the coleslaw was great. They have some interesting brunch items and other specials that sound good. I want to come back and try them out. Also got some Mac n Cheese and it was very flavorful. Can't wait to go back.

Meats were delicious, atmosphere was fun, and seating was plentiful. The employees were wonderful and remembered us when we went back to the counter for seconds.

Wow, such an amazing location with some amazing food. I stopped in with a few buddies and they had been telling me about how good this place was. I was pleasantly shocked at how amazing everything tasted. The beer was great and the BBQ was on point. There is not much else to say. If you are in the area, and you have an opportunity to stop in and give this place a try, take that opportunity! I do not think that you will be disappointed at all. They have an amazing beer selection too that was not expensive at all. The beer flight is the way to go!

Great food for your buck! Great flavor, good portions for a good price. Was busy when we got there but the line moved along quickly. Seating a bit of an issue when they are busy if you don't want to sit in the outside portion, but that wouldn'tstop me from recommending. Just something to be aware of. I had the salad with chicken which was very tender. My husband had jalapeño sausage link and brisket. Both great! Our cheesecake was good too that we split.

Intrinsic BBQ is a cool place with great BBQ and fun atmosphere. The place was clean and staff was great! I ordered the chopped beef sandwich plate "moist" ( which means they use the top layer of the brisket which is a little fattier and tastier IMO). 2 sides, beans and potato salad as always. Both delicious. I tried the "sweet" and the "heat" sauce. Again, both delicious. The heat is hot but not too hot. I didnt try the "Carolina" because well, I'm not a fan (sorry my Carolinian BBQ brethren) but that is available if you are a fan. They brew their own beer, sangria as well as wine. There are plenty to try if you're interested. They also have a beer style tap for you to get water. They even have beer to go! They do have a patio. Great place cool atmosphere but there is some construction on the street out front which is probably hurting business so if you are in the area of Downtown Garland please stop by we dont want this place the have to close due to street construction, it's definitely a keeper.

Man, I love Intrinsic. Barbecue isn't my favorite type of cuisine (I know, it's Texas, say it ain't so.) - but I love me some wet brisket from Intrinsic. The beer lineup is and always has been fantastic, they truly know what they are doing both in the kitchen and in the brewery.

The food was great all around! We had the brisket, pork, Mac and cheese, and potato salad.

We did take out and had a drink at the bar while waiting. There was a consistent line waiting to order for dine in, but it seemed to move quickly.

There was 1 TV above the entryway but the bar is adjacent to it so was not really viewable, maybe add a couple of tvs for the bar area but the atmosphere was otherwise a nice typical BBQ joint vibe.

Some of the best BBQ around! I've only been here a couple of times so I've got lots more to try from their menu but so far everything I've tried has been absolutely amazing! Of course I recommend the Brisket, and the Jalapeño Cream Corn is fantastic! If you are in the Garland area and you like BBQ then go here!!

Great little dive & BBQ bar! Prices are to be expected but they did have more side options than most places and they actually had ribs! Pricey but everywhere we stopped before there was out of ribs!

Was referred to this place by a co-workers who had some of the brisket and it was beyond awesome so I went for myself and they didn’t disappoint. I have been to other BBQ places who charged so much more for less food. The portions are huge to where you can eat seconds off of whatever you get. I’ll definitely be back because they were out of some things that I really wanted to try due to it being almost closing time when I went.

We visit Intrinsic frequently and love them for their food, drinks, atmosphere and community involvement. But I specifically wanted to leave a review after dining during the Christmas on the Square event on December 7th. The staff and management deserve major kudos. The food and drink lines were enormous and they were totally prepared. They kept the lines moving, had plenty of every menu item, maintained positive attitudes and generally delivered a great experience in the midst of (fun) chaos. Bravo!
