Davids 388 Restaurant

Delicious dinner! The mushroom asparagus risotto was one of the best risottos I’ve ever had. The brussel sprouts were also delicious. Our waitress was great. We were sat easily with our reservations. Would absolutely return.

Wonderful dining experience. We have been to David’s on Monument Square, but this was our first time at David”s 388. The service was on point, and the food was delicious. We started with the brussel sprouts , caramelized, crispy, with a sweet soy sauce,and then moved on to the main course. Sesame Crusted Salmon and Focaccia Crumb Roasted Haddock were our choices The presentation of the food was beautiful and the taste was delectable. Both pieces of fish were tender and the accompanying vegetables paired perfectly.

Fantastic restaurant! I didn't realize it was there, the atmosphere is relaxing yet upbeat, the menu is not over priced by any means but the flavor is a million bucks. We split everything we had, ahi, mussles (fattest I've ever had), duck and the filet. The staff is attentive, quick and fun. They're switching to the new seasonal menu soon and I can't wait to go back to see what they have in store!

Best dinner experience I have ever had! Atmosphere was a 10!! Food was beyond amazing! 10+ The service was wonderful. 10 When I said I don't drink alcohol she accommodated me by making a very pretty looking non-alcoholic blueberry Spitzer!! 100% THE Perfect restaurant for a fancy, romantic dinner date!!

I have not been to any of the other David locations, but if they are anything like 388, this guy has the market on good food and service in Portland. We had a large group so we had most of the entrees on the menu. They were all cooked too perfection, served perfectly and most importantly delicious! The wine list will make you happy, the beer list is sorry but again something for everyone. From fish to burgers, they have it right.

David’s is one of our favorites in the whole portland area. It is a cozy welcoming space with fabulous staff who make you feel like you are their only concern. Food is always delicious, interesting and beautifully presented. We used to be locals but alas had to move away… Davids 388 is always on the top of our list when we get back to the area a couple times a year.

We eat out a lot around the Portland, Scarborough, Saco areas, and this was by far our favorite meal of the year. My wife had the seafood papardelle and I had the duck breast. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. The bartender, who was also our server was fantastic. Can't wait to come back!

Food was seriously delightful and certainly decadent but not too heavy. The cocktails were fresh and delicious. Staff were super friendly and unpretentious. Comfortable and cozy while still upscale.

Amazing food and atmosphere! We always ask to sit at the Chef's Bar to watch them cook and prepare the meals! It's quite fun! Try the crispy brussel sprouts and the pot stickers to start! One of our favorite places to go!

So many restaurants seem to have gone downhill after covid--but not David's 388. It's cozy, friendly, and the food is top notch. We sit at the counter and talk to the chefs as they work. Their skills are right there in plain view! And they are pros.

The food and service at David's was top notch. The restaurant was quite small so seating was tight, and the bathrooms were very small, but the experience and quality of food, drink, and attention to customers was 10/10.

We have been going to this restaurant and the downtown location for 15+ years. Consistently good food, good service and comfortable setting. Our waitress was pleasant and solicitous. Apps, entrees and dessert was a 90- minute experience. Carpaccio was excellent as was my seared tuna and I split an orange crème brûlée. Two parties in our group visiting Maine from our west had seafood pappardelle and the other had the duck. The port trio was terrific with my husband giving the waitress carte blanche with the ports!

A staple when we visit the Portland area...never disappoints with the food and it's charm. It's a little gem with an assuming presence from the street, but a wonderful vibe once inside!

If I could give this restaurant a 10, I would instead of a five. Service excellent, atmosphere quaint. I live in coastal Virginia and the seafood dinners here were amazing. We had the salmon, shrimp and scallop dinners. Drinks and wine were amazing and desserts so good. Great way to end our vacation to Maine. This place is a must visit.

Special: salmon with cumin, fingerlings, apple compote, ACV cabbage. Delicious and difficult to place. What if Chubby Hubby were a meal? The food was perfect as was the service.

I’m from out of town and last night I had the pleasure of dining here for my birthday. Everything from the service to the food was absolutely top notch. They even made my birthday dessert extra special. If I ever return to the area, I will definitely make it a point to come back to David’s 388!

My husband and I had a lovely experience at David’s 388.
We were exhausted after a long day of moving elderly parents and we had no reservation. We were seated promptly ( it was on the later side) and the staff was courteous and friendly.
Food was great and service was spot on.
I will be in the area more frequently now and look forward to additional dining experiences at this quaint, neighborhood establishment.

We had a great time. Small neighborhood eatery. Wife raved about salmon. Seafood pasta the best I have ever had. Staff very friendly. Patrons even more so.

Absolutely perfect. Husband and I tried this place last time we were in Maine for vacation. We loved our experience so much we booked it for another night on that same vacation! Just got home from yet another Maine trip... we were only there three nights. TWO of those nights we went to David's 388 again!! :) You don't mess with success!

What can I say, the food is spectacular, the vibe is energetic but casual. No pretense here. The servers are patient and really fun/friendly, never rushing you through your meal. The food is cooked in an open kitchen, so you can watch the chefs bustling around. The food comes out fast, apps were to us in a mere 5 or so minutes! Then there was a perfect wait time till entrees were served. Together during our two visits we tried the pecan crusted scallops, the lamb, the filet, and the duck entrees. EACH AND EVERYONE ONE was spectacular. Appetizers-- we had the dumplings (AMAZING!), the arancini... also brilliant, and I had the best caesar salad I've ever had... it was perfectly dressed in the best dressing, had homemade focaccia croutons, white anchovy, and shaved parmesan.

GIVE THIS PLACE A TRY! Truly, you will not regret it!

Had a fantastic meal at David’s last night. Started out with a jalapeño margarita, which was a perfect blend of spice and alcohol. It was served in a tall glass, which was a nice surprise. Our appetizer of Burrata, avocado, and heirloom tomatoes served over a bed of arugula with balsamic vinegar was delicious. My meal was a vegan fettuccini bolognese with be’f. I had thought this was a mistake on the menu and it really was beef Bolognese. It was so delicious!!! I can’t believe it wasn’t meat!!! The homemade pasta was phenomenal too! My fiancé had meatloaf, which was also great. Dessert was a raspberry lime cheesecake, which was served so beautifully. Definitely make this restaurant a must on your stop in Portland.
