Saltwater Grille

Had my first whole lobster it was the baked stuffed lobster it was about $78 for the whole meal with two sides and a glass of wine was good. They said it was gluten free I'm not sure if it was or not.

Great food! Beautiful restaurant with a stunning view. The staff was so accommodating and quick to offer a free appetizer when our reservation was slightly delayed due to another party staying longer than expected. But they didn’t stop there and offered us a spot upstairs within their private event space! Our waiter, Cam, offered us amazing service but everyone we interacted with was so kind.

Saltwater is a place I go to now and then to spoil myself. It's the perfect place for an amazing lunch. I can't say enough about it. From the Oysters to the Clam Chowder and of course the Lobster Roll. The thing that amazes me the most is the chef not only uses the finest ingredients and fresh seafood but pays attention to small details like lightly toasting the bread for the Lobster Roll or adding a maple vinegarette dressing to complement it.
Sometimes you just want to spoil yourself and Saltwater Grille does just that like no other

This place is amazing! The food is the best we’ve had in the entire Portland area. My wife got the lobster tail and I had the Fisherman’s platter. Our waitress, Brittany, was friendly and provided excellent service and the atmosphere here is great!

Wow if you want to experience a wonderful Maine Lobster experience. This is the place to go! Fancy dining, top notch service. Right on the water. If you wondering if you should try it don't wonder just go and be dazzled!

Don’t miss out on a great dining experience! Okay, where to begin, I have a really bad gluten allergy and this menu was practically all gluten free! This is almost unheard of, could not be any happier with the choices. Crazy! I had fried seafood in a dedicated fryer! Calamari and French fries and the lobster was phenomenal! Our server was awesome and knowledgeable about my allergy and the food choices! I only wished we lived closer! Thanks for such a wonderful worry free dinner! Loved everything about it!!!! If you do drink the GF Downeast Cider be sure to turn the can upside down and read the directions, It’s unfiltered but really delicious! Lol! 👏👍🦞🍺🍻

Great food and we sat outside at sunset and it was beautiful! I hate writing negative things about service but that was the only downside. They said they'd d bring water and never did, other people brought out and cleared the dishes, and finally halfway through our entree we asked someone else for waters and he brought them immediately. Our server never checked on us during the meal, and only after we were done did they come over asking if we wanted anything else to drink from the bar.

It was only when they brought the check that anything was said about being understaffed and we were thanked for our patience (not really because no one checked on us). It would have been greatly appreciated if they told us beforehand, and I guess they was busy, but they could have checked on us just once during the meal.

We were invited out to dinner on our first night in Portland by some friends in Freeport and could not have been happier with our dining experience. We were able to grab a table outside just before golden hour and enjoyed a few cocktails before dinner. Christina was a great host and gave great recommendations on wine and entree selections and was a great addition to our evening. 10/10 would come back again.

Exceptional all around! My absolute favorite restaurant, while visiting Maine. Don't hesitate on trying this place.

The atmosphere was comfortable, the food was decent and the view was beautiful! I did find it odd they didn't have ice in our water on a hot day so the water was almost instantly luke warm! The newburg casserole was like eating a stick of butter with a few pieces of seafood, that included the shrimp tail shell still ... The appetizers were good!

I recently celebrated my graduation dinner here and it was an amazing experience! The friendly and congratulatory staff created a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Though the food was on the expensive side, the use of locally sourced seafood just outside the restaurant made it worth every penny. The view overlooking downtown Portland was also immaculate and added a touch of beauty to an already memorable evening. Definitely a great place to go to with large groups of people or to celebrate any sort of special occasion!

I had reservations at 6:45pm last night, but I was in the area at 5:45pm. So I decided to show up to see if I can get seated even at the bar. Turned out, I got seated right away. Joe, our server( my husband and I), he was so great. Food were good. We shared all dishes except the jumbo shrimps and salad. We like all dishes we ordered.

Excellent dining experience! The food was fantastic, the sunset at the marina was lovely and the drinks were great! Even the valets were pleasant. Great Google find, I would visit again.

We were very happy with our food, the service, and the atmosphere! I had the fried seafood platter. Everything was exceptional, except the coleslaw, which was average. The platter was big enough for 2 average eaters to share. The price of the food is high, but to be expected, with the quality, the atmosphere, and the region. Since it was December, we were seated at 6pm with no wait, I would highly recommend reservations during the peak season.

This was an amazing evening out with friends! Joe served us and he was super friendly and very attentive. Our meals were fabulous! Our dessert , the chocolate toffee cake was worth every divine calorie! I can not wait to return. When you go tell them Hungry Susan sent you!

Went for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time. Food was great and the large windows showed a beautiful view of Portland. I'll be back for the salmon again!

The food is always dynamite every time we come, but tonight we had the pleasure of having Christina (Kristina?) as our server and our experience was elevated to the next level. She had wonderful and genuine conversation and she is excellent at reading people and their needs. She offered great recommendations for our toddler who loved all the food and her own special mocktail. Christina spoke long enough to make us feel like honored guests, while elegantly allowing us to continue our conversation in other moments. People like her truly enhance a dining experience with their empathy and tact. Their food and drinks are top notch. Highly recommend for the food and the care they take to hire exceptional employees.

Kady was amazing!! Excellent service, food, & ambiance!! I had the swordfish and my mother had the tuna both 10/10! We will be coming back! No swordfish dish I’ve ever had can compare!!

The Saltwater Grille is a great little tucked away spot in South Portland! It doesn’t seem too touristy. There is a huge menu with a seafood focus, but the menu offers a little of everything— so something for everyone! Definitely ask to sit on the deck, you won’t regret it! Their wine list is extensive. We loved the dry rose (pictures) it was delicious! Call ahead for a reservation, plenty of parking, friendly staff! Be sure to go for sunset!
