We decided to go to my parents cottage for Easter and wanted to prioritize Easter service. We heard about Markey Church and decided to give it a try. The people were welcoming, even some delicious snacks & coffee. The service was well done, especially the message. I loved the Pastors viewpoint of the Easter Story and I know my whole family (all 6 of us) learned a new perspective on a biblical story we have heard all our lives! Great job Markey Church!

Very welcoming church! Good sermons and worship music. Casual dress and wonderful snacks and coffee if you get there a little early before the 10:00 service.

Great Christmas message today.
God shows up in the magnitude of our dispare, that's when we need Him the most, that's when He shows up. This is the real Christmas story.
May I invited you to be my guest next Sunday.

Beautiful Church

I grew up in this church. It was a robust community that welcomed all sorts and encouraged members to participate at all levels. This was a place of learning , a place based on classic liberal ideas of debate and discussion where people felt welcomed and respected. This is no longer the case.
I recently visited my home town this past summer and went to the one service they have (they used to have enough members to have two services) and was shocked by the small number of members, most well past the age of having any children at home.
Additionally, the leaders that were members there when I was a youth have left in droves, I hardly recognized anyone. The new pastor did not impress me much, his only concerns conveyed to me was the CSA he was trying to get going and his troubles with my father about acquiring land to do so, what should have been a talk about Ministry was about business. Are you a church or a business?
Furthermore, when my father was labeled a dissenter, he was reprimanded by a modern day Privy Council, made to sign a piece of paper that he would not voice his dissent, and when he again chose to try to have his concerns heard, his membership was revoked, and he was arrested for trespassing on his way into service the next Sunday. What sort of church has to resort to force? Why is a church not able to have an actual discussion about concerns that a member had ? Who attempts to make an enemy of their actual neighbor and then give a sermon of total acceptance? In a world of micro aggressions and safe spaces the church should be able to rise above running from conflict, and have an actual face to face conversation, take the time to understand what is being communicated and try to reach a common ground, and at the end of it, if the parties decide to go their separate ways, you do so with respect and not force.
I credit this church with helping shape me in my formative years, and to this day love and respect many of the members past and present, but the latest actions that I have observed have been cowardly and insincere. I am no longer a member, and have not been for years, but my family has been part of this church for generations and contributed to the community in ways no others could. This is a sad way to end a relationship, very sad indeed.

This church is for you if you either agree with the pastor 100% or choose to be silent. Be prepared to be kicked out of the church or face legal consequences if you voice anything contradictory to the pastor. It's the pastor's way or the highway in the strictest totalitarian sense. Don't expect to be able to voice your concerns in a normal conversation with the pastor. Instead, you will find the pastor will refuse to give you an audience without having a full board, a board that has abdicated all of its power to the pastor, in front you. Join this church if you are ok to go along to get along, though remember, not to speak is to speak. It's up to you.
