The most caring and knowledgeable physicians, the best and most knowledgeable PAs, Fellows, interns and the facility is always spotless. I was back teaching body movement classes six weeks after total shoulder replacement surgery, riding my mountain bike five months laterand a year later I'm thrilled with the results. My home is five hours from Steadman but it is worth the time!

I can’t recommend Dr. Backus and Steadman enough. I am a snowboarder looking to get back on the World Cup circuit after recovering from surgery. If you’ve struggled with an injury for a long time with no good/helpful answers or are just looking for the most competent surgeon you can find Backus is your guy.
I lived in Steamboat this winter and Backus was worth the 2 hour drive to appointments every time. When you’re an athlete or active person having a great surgeon is vital to a healthy recovery, and Backus is my top and only recommendation to anyone needing orthopedic care.

I got ankle surgery repairing my peroneal brevis tendon after 2 years of dealing with ankle pain snowboard racing. The problem came back and wouldn’t go away this season and kept me from racing again.

I got an MRI and talked to another doc but was encouraged by my PT to get a second opinion at Steadman. I saw Dr. Backus and thank god I did, he completely disagreed with the first opinion because it could’ve caused even more scar tissue (go figure when they operated the second time they found tons of the stuff) and it would’ve put my snowboarding career at risk. Backus figured out just from seeing the MRI that it was a structural issue, my tendons were slipping over the bone and completely unstable, if they had just repaired the tendon it would’ve just torn again.
His PA Ashley is extremely competent and knowledgeable as well and was very calm and comforting as I was nervous and scrambling a little before my second surgery, when you’re going into a repeat surgery that makes a world of difference.

One of my favorite things about Backus is that he doesn’t let himself or his team put words in your mouth, during my visit I mentioned a cracking in my ankle as an argument for the surgery we planned, he actually stopped me and made sure that I understood that the tendon slipping was separate and that the cracking was unrelated. He doesn’t just do surgery to do surgery, he wants to help find a permanent solution that is best for you and that you are comfortable with. Backus always measures twice and cuts once.

I got my surgery with Backus, they modified the bone, removed a ton of scar tissue from my first surgery, and along with PT I have healed so nicely, my tendons have been stable ever since and I am starting to get back to the activities I love. I cannot recommend Dr. Backus enough.

I have been cared for at the Steadman clinic several times and it is perfection. The physicians are all world class surgeons, caring, good at explaining things and very helpful in making long term plans if being active is your plan, and isn't that what medicine should be about? Looking forward? I work in the Medical field myself and I would tell any of my colleagues and friends to travel from wherever they are to go to the Steadman Clinic

Pure Awesomeness! Dr, Bckus and his team have been AWESOME throughout the entire process of my foot surgery. The facilities were top-notch, but the care, kindness, and concern the entire team showed made this experience so exceptional. Dr. Backus himself called me the next day to make sure I was doing OK and if I had any concerns or questions. Everyone from Victoria with scheduling and billing, Ashley who's been there for me the entire way, and Maddie for just being awesome. I have my next appointment today and I'm excited to see the team and see how my foot is healing because it feels great. Thank you Dr. Backus and your team for making a Holiday surgery so great.

I have been treated at Steadman Clinic for a number of years. In the beginning, I had an excellent result of treatment and now, it only seems reasonable to go there. They are the best! I have tried local doctors giving me pain reliving shots but they don't last! The shots put in by Dr. Haytmanek and his assistants, have been long-lasting and it is such a blessing to be able to walk. They are very helpful and give me honest feed-back. I heartily recommend them. So glad they are training new young doctors to specialize and help.

Five-Star Facility in the Mountain West! The Steadman Clinic has been used by many of my friends, as well as my husband and me, for various procedures. Their reputation is excellent, as many Olympic and professional sports stars have had surgeries performed here. The staff, without exception, treated me professionally and in a friendly manner; I feel as if I am as valued as the famous athletes they routinely see in their clinic! While I don’t recommend the necessity of a surgical repair, should you NEED to have something done to alleviate pain or injury, I highly recommend The Steadman Clinic.

If you want the best results go to the best in the world. Dr Viola at the Steadman Clinic in Vail is hands down the best hand surgeon in the world. I have had many surgeries with this surgeon and all have been followed by perfect outcomes. He is kind, caring and most importantly THE BEST at what he does. If you live out of state or out of country it is well worth the trip!!

Just finished shoulder surgery yesterday with Dr. Millett and his team. Cannot speak more highly about his work, the quality of his whole team, and the professionalism of The Steadman Clinic. We came from out of town for shoulder surgery and have been thoroughly impressed by the entire experience thus far. My shoulder injury had a number of complexities to it and Dr. Millett and his team sorted through all of them both in preop and during the surgery in a way that feels like the right choices were made. The experience he and his team have came through with both knowing what to do and how to do it.

From start to finish, the Steadman Clinic is top-notch. This is why they are world reknown. Excellence is part of their mission and each aspect of treatment is handled with high regard for the patient and their family. Thank you for getting me back to what I like to do!

Before deciding on using the Steadman Clinic for my surgery, I did a lot of research, reading reviews, outcomes and all of the glowing reviews about Steadman Clinic and Dr. Gallizzi. My opinion of the Steadman Clinic, Dr. Gallizzi, Dr. Garland, the staff, including Nathan and Brooke, is that they are excellent. I have not a single criticism. After 5 months, I am pain free, very happy I had the surgery and I am ready and able to start mountain biking again, thanks to them!

This facility and the doctors are far above most medical professionals. Dr Backus and Ashley Gerken PA-C are both a pleasure to experience as you go through the reconstruction and healing process. I could not be more pleased and would not change a thing in the process.

I have some very painful problems with vertebrae in my back. After seeking relief elsewhere I made an appt. at Steadman. I was treated to the clinic's staff's optimism,concern and care. Dr. Evans is extremely good at what he does.

Dr Philippon and Dr. Evans, changed my quality of life. When I was 23 I had both hips done by Dr Philippon. I went from unable to walk to fully back to doing activity and working out. Dr Evans also helped with pain control in between. I am now 34 and I saw Dr Evans yesterday for regenerative therapy for my hips. These kind of doctors don't exist anymore, they are one of a kind. They are honestly angels. To be an active person that loses their ability to do anything and have that restored is the best feeling in the world. Both of these doctors actually care about you as a person, their bedside manner is like nothing I have ever seen. They are the best in the nation for a reason.

They are the BEST!! Most professional, knowledgeable staff, doctors and private facility I’ve ever been to through 18 of my 20 Orthopedic procedures over the last 21 years. They have a team who consult to come up with a full plan to properly take care of you. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dr. Evans and his staff are amazing to work with. They take plenty of time with you and everything from appointments to wait times is incredible.

The best medical care I’ve ever received. The facility is gorgeous and well maintained. Everyone from the front desk to the PA to the coordinator to the surgeon was welcoming, knowledgeable, and kind. Michael, the PA, made me feel like I was actually being seen as a person and like my case was being evaluated intently on an individual basis. At most other clinics, it’s felt more like I’m a number and as if I’m being funneled through a generic care regiment. Brandon, the coordinator, seemed incredibly organized and efficient in getting me situated for next steps and future scans.

I’m not surprised that people would travel from all over to see Dr. Gill and consult the Steadman Clinic. I’ve been dealing with a back issue for a little over two years and have seen countless doctors, but my visit at the Steadman Clinic was exceptional and proved to me that I’d be crazy to go anywhere else for care. Dr. Gill was empathetic, patient-focused, and had an excellent plan of care for me. I’m not anybody special and certainly no elite athlete, so I’m truly honored to be his patient. I recently had the privilege of being under the care of Dr. Haytmanek (Orthopedic Surgeon - foot and ankle specialist) at The Vail Steadman Clinic, and I can't say enough about my exceptional experience with this excellent surgeon. From the moment I walked into the clinic to the day of my surgery and throughout the entire recovery process, Dr. Haytmanek and his team consistently exceeded my expectations.

Dr. Haytmanek's expertise and professionalism are truly commendable. I went to him 13 months after having an Achilles rupture repair from another surgeon that left me with ongoing ankle pain and weakness even after PT, hard casting, laser therapy, dry needling, and rest. At every appointment, Dr. Haytmanek addressed all my questions and concerns with patience and empathy. He took the time to thoroughly assess my chronic ankle issues and then clearly explained his diagnoses and the procedure he recommended. His deep technical knowledge was evident and instilled in me a great deal of confidence that he would get me out of pain and back to my normal activity soon.

Surgery with Dr. Haytmanek went very smoothly, and the post-op care I received was top-notch. Dr. Haytmanek and his team were incredibly responsive and always available to provide support, monitor my progress, and make necessary adjustments to my recovery plan. I am stunned that 13 weeks out from my Achilles revision surgery, my ankle is almost back to normal. Just yesterday, my PT told me I am "about 6 weeks beyond what's typical strength following an initial Achilles rupture repair" - and this is my second surgery! I have no doubt I will be completely back to normal after my final 6 months of recovery.

Dr. Haytmanek is not only a highly skilled surgeon but also an incredibly compassionate and caring individual. His knowledge and genuine concern for my well-being made a significant difference in my overall experience. I felt I was in extremely capable hands throughout the entire process, and the results of my surgery have exceeded my expectations.
