First time at this cute little diner type restaurant. The food was very good and inexpensive! I had the burger and onion rings. The homemade pies were also very good! We even took a slice home. Service was great as well. We will be back!

My husband and I were on a road trip when I looked up good food and found this one. The ratings were already 4.6 stars, so we thought we'd stop in. Cute little dinner, they had a board with specials "March burger of the month". Even though they had lots to choose from on the menu, I decided to try this. It was seat yourself, and the waitress came right over. She took our drink order, attended to other patrons , came right back to us with our drinks, and then took our food order. I know this is a lot of normal detail, but most places are not this well organized. It usually takes a bit for the waitress to come back, and I was impressed right away! The food came out shortly after, too! I thought that it might just be because it was the "burger of the month," but I noticed another couple had sat down about 5 minutes after us, and their food was quick to arrive also. The plate was big, the burger was big with a lot of frys (hot and crisp!) The meat patty was a bit thin and I like mine on the thicker side with a normal burger, however, with the layers of corned beef, sourkraut and Cole slaw, it was a perfect blend of everything!! To top it off, the bill was half the amount we spent the morning before on breakfast for the two of us!! I will definitely return and tell all my friends!! Well done!!

If you want a fancy dining experience, keep driving. However, if you want good down-home food with warm, friendly service, be sure to stop in at the Blue Hills Cafe. My wife and I stopped in on our way to Prescott Valley, with my mother-in-law, for breakfast and were not disappointed.

Wanda was our server. She is a kind, responsive, and professional server. When my wife mentioned she has a gluten allergy, she offer a gluten-free English muffin, and stated that they would toast it on the flat-top instead of the toaster because of cross-contamination. This, of course, put my wife at ease, knowing they understood food safety as it relates to allergens. I ordered their chicken fried steak with hash browns, two eggs, and a biscuit with sausage gravy. I couldn't finish it all in one sitting. The steak was delicious! They cooked the hash browns to perfection, and they were not greasy. On our next trip to Prescott Valley, I'll order this again and start with the biscuit for sure. Their biscuits are the lightest and moistest biscuits I ever tasted. They are not the typical bone dry biscuits that need gravy in order to choke them down. When we return, I'll ask if I can order a half dozen to take back to Phoenix.

This was our first occasion to eat at Blue Hills for breakfast. I have two recommendations. The first recommendation I could make for their menu would be to offer more in the way of southwest options to spice things up a bit, like chorizo, fresh spicy salsa, chili Colorado, besides your Ortega green chili (which I assume is out of a can). The second would be, offer quality steel-cut oats for your oatmeal instead of the quick instant oats that are slimy. My mother-in-law ordered your oatmeal. This, of course, is a business decision based on demand. Everything else on your menu represents a level of excellence. Your oatmeal should too. But again, this would be based on the demand for oatmeal, as making steal-cut oatmeal takes time (unless you make it overnight in a crock-pot). Steel-cut oats are rich and hearty, especially when you top them with fresh fruits and nuts. You can also increase the price point and the profit margin is crazy good as well for offering an elevated “gourmet” version, since steel-cut oats are very inexpensive and yield a lot of oatmeal per volume of raw oats.

One thing patrons may notice is the steady stream of traffic in this restaurant. Good food and great service are why. While there, we noticed no staff just standing around. Everyone served the customers professionally and with a smile. We look forward to trying the lunch/dinner menu options on our next visit. Job well done!

Stopped in for breakfast. Very good! My husband enjoyed his omelette and I really liked my breakfast melt. We both thought that the home fries were delicious. Servings were very large.
It’s a casual, hometown kind of place. We’ll be back!

Food, service, and atmosphere are the cornerstones of restaurant quality. Whether or not it has white tablecloths, or a formalized service process really shouldn't matter. The question is do they serve the food and items on their menu in a way that delights the customer. Speed of service, friendliness of service staff, value for price paid, and is hot food served hot, and is cold food served cold are all important factors. The Blue Hill Cafe managed to deliver on all measurements. I hardly ever order dessert. It was a birthday meal so I ended up ordering the blueberry pie. The blueberries were so tasty and the crust was so flaky. I asked the cashier and server where they bought their pies from. She said oh we make them here. If you're a French fry and onion ring lover you won't be disappointed. The plate is overflowing with those treats. No old fryer grease was used to prepare this important part of the lunch. If you're looking for fancy this is not your place. If you're looking for formality this is not your place. If you just want good comfort food with a diverse menu served in a casual environment this is your place.

I just loved Blue Hills Cafe! We stopped by for lunch, 3 burgers and a chicken sandwich. The fries were yummy and crispy. The burgers were juicy and tasty, and the chicken sandwich was cooked perfectly and not dry or overcooked. Our server was as nice as can be ( I'm sorry for not getting her name) I really had a good time!

Our favorite breakfast place. Biscuits and gravy are the best and the bacon is plentiful. Great burger specials too! Shannon is one of our favorite waitresses there. Always a smile on her face 😊

I have had lunch five times in the last 3 months. I really enjoy both the food and interaction with the servers.
The portions are pretty good sized. They are fine with some customizing of the orders. They doing things right.

Come for the food and stay for the service. I was on a road trip from Chino Valley back to Phoenix and I used Google Maps to find a restaurant along my route. The restaurant itself is unassuming with seating from booths to a diner style bar seating and open tables. As you walk in you'll find a sign that says to Please Seat Yourself. The staff says greets you quickly and offers you a drink from a variety of Pepsi products. I was pleasantly surprised they also carry Cream Soda which is not something I find very frequently in my travels. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken which came with a house salad, mashed potatoes and green beans. The chicken was good, well seasoned and not greasy. The other food was good but nothing impressive. What stood out to me from this experience was the service. There was a sense that this is more than a restaurant, it felt like this place was special because it serves as a pillar to this community. It's got all the charms of a small town Arizona diner. The prices were reasonable and the portions were good. Check it out!

I've been craving a cheeseburger for some time and am happy to say the Ortega chili burger was a delicious and satisfying choice. The coffee was good too.

Friendly staff, quick pick up service that's semi truck friendly (empty lot across the street). Had the Denver's omelet that had green chili instead of green pepper and I have to say that it was delightful! (Not a fan of green pepper) the home fries were some of the best I've had! Good prices and great job BHC!

We've been driving by 3 years and we finally stopped in and had lunch. We got the special which included french fries and a drink all for under $12. The place was packed, no tables available people were running around like crazy and our food still came within 10 minutes. I didn't think you can find that type of service anywhere anymore!

It was cold outside, but inside was very warm and inviting. I enjoyed the meal and the warm atmosphere. It was worth driving a little out of the way for some homely cooking.

I was looking for a place for breakfast while staying at the Whistlestop. We had driven by this place on the hill with a big CAFE sign a couple of times the day before. Although this morning had a pretty good rain coming down, I decided to brave the cold and rain and go in search of breakfast.

Upon entering the Cafe. I was greeted by a nice lady who said "good morning", and telling me to sit anywhere. I chose a booth by the window so I could watch the rain.

I didn't even have to look at the menu. On the wall I saw a sign showing today's special. Country Fried Steak with biscuits and gravy, $10.00. Sold!

I got a big plate with eggs the way I like, hashbrowns cooked to perfection. And a large steak that covered half the plate. covered in really thick gravy. A large fresh biscuit covered with gravy was on another plate.

I ate the whole thing.

Enough said.

I'll be back. And from what I hear, so will a bunch of folks from The Whistlestop.

Only wish breakfast was all day. Love their waffles. The BLT and chicken fried steak sandwich was a good alternative though. Service was very nice.
