The Watson trail loop has Breathtaking views. I would consider it an Easy to Moderate hike. I suggest starting the hike to the left if you like ending with less effort.

Great place to take in the scenery. We had an awesome visit to Watson lake during our stay in Prescott. Almost all the parks are free on Wednesdays fyi. Otherwise was only 3 dollars to enter and park. Our dogs enjoyed the trails and large grass field (on leash) and had a great time. The setting is really beautiful with the contrast between the rocks and the lake water. It was beautiful with the fall colors.

It's just breath taking!!! Very beautiful!!! You pay $3 to park inside the park. It's well maintained and a great place to take the kids! They have a nice playground and a big field to play football, soccer or baseball :)

Gorgeous park, picnic area, frisbee golf course and a hiking trail that encircles a magnificent lake. There is also a very small seasonal campground that was already closed during my visit in November. Not crowded at all the day I was there. Costs a few dollars to park for the day. Worth every cent. Met a very friendly Roadrunner.

It is such a picturesque lake just 10 min outside Prescott, AZ with a kayak, board rental for very reasonable price, parks, ramadas, viewing points and of course trails...early October was the best time to spend a day there

Neat little hidden gem! I love granite boulders and the lake provided me a new way to experience them. The lake feels a bit otherworldly. It was near empty on a Thursday afternoon in the summer. I suggest a kayak or boat if you want to swim, the areas closest to the parking lots are a bit pond scumb-y.

Awesome park and lake!
What a great lake to explore! Our group of kayaks & paddleboards spend 3+ hours checking out all the coves and areas and rock formations, and didn't even see them all! Very unique looking lake with all the rock formations that make up the shore on the North half. The water level was high so we could get deeper into some of the coves. There are even a few little Islands you can stop at.

We launched from the South Shore beach area. It was a busy weekend and we still had plenty of room. The North boat launch area looked packed.

Highly recommend checking out this lake. If you don't have a way to get on the water it looks there are several trail that you can take you down to the rock shoreline. Beautiful Place!!

Very nice lake recreation area it’s a Park it’s a Lake it’s got indoor bathrooms lots of space beautiful scenery, low entry for you. I think it was about six or eight dollars for the car to enter and it’s just a few miles north of downtown Prescott.

Absolutely fantastic especially if you have a boat or watercraft to get out and experience the details. For 3 bucks you get access to a great park and two boat launches. When the water is low use the north access b/c the water weeds are terrible from the south. A truly spectacular and otherworldly aquatic scene.

Breath taking lake. What a view, with a beautiful sunset to kayak. Every full moon you are able to kayak on the lake and it is super worthy it. Apart from the lake, the entire park has a great structure. Place for you to park RV, for kids to play, huge open grass to fly kites, and a great spot to start you kayak or stand-up journey...

Five stars all the way. We moved to the Phoenix area from San Diego recently and Watson Lake was one of the first places we discovered while exploring. We vowed to come back soon and bring our kayaks. We did that yesterday and it was amazing. One of the most picturesque places I've ever paddled. It's easy to get to, inexpensive, and the facilities are outstanding. Easy in and out of your boats. Lots of picnic area. And many viewpoints. And did I mention hiking? Miles and miles of hiking trails. It's a great way to escape the summer heat of Phoenix. You can bring your tents for some day use but they close at 10:00. Still a great place for the kids and the whole family.

We went for an hour hike that took us below the dam. The whole area is nice but below the dam is really lush and green. Saw a hummingbird in its nest for the first time so that was a treat.

Beautiful lake, almost no cactus in this area. Some pine trees and some tall and green trees, different from the Phoenix area. Kayak and Patel boats are available for rent. On July 17th it was a bit warm for a hike but we anyway hiked for a short time.

Moderate 5 mile loop hike around the lake and within the granite boulders of the surrounding area. Loved the scenery, the weather was perfect this time of year and the lake was gorgeous. For all hiking skill levels. I recommend at least 1/2 gallon of water, good hiking shoes and sun screen. Minimal shade areas but places to sit down and soak in the views. Enjoy!

Watson Lake is so beautiful, interesting and unique! I've never seen anything like it before other than in photos from other photographers. It was a dream of mine to be able to come to this amazing place in person for a photo shoot and also just take time to sit & enjoy it's beauty! It didn't disappoint in anyway!! Even the parks host at the gate was so enjoyable talk with! And the restrooms were really clean. The lawn areas were well groomed and there are plenty of locations around for picnics in the areas I went. I loved the gazebo, and other areas that had benches to sit. This park has a place for everyone to hangout and enjoy the surroundings. But honestly the rock formations around the lake itself were what had me mesmerized!! This place is a must see any time of year...... 🤗
