My husband went in for heart surgery and found out his heart was in worse shape then realized. The doctors and nurses was wonderful and so supportive. He is home now with an LVAD. Wonderful place with caring people.

My husband was discharged today from Heart Hospital. Absolutely the very best ever!!!
I thank you to the nurses & the Care Team my husband had. Fabulous hospital. People sooo compassionate was obvious they love their work! Sooo nice to be with caring compassionate people these days.

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the excellent care the entire Norfolk Sentara Heart Hospital staff provided during my recent bypass surgery. Your dedication to your work and compassion for your patients are truly admirable.

As you know, undergoing bypass surgery can be a frightening and overwhelming experience, but your calm and reassuring presence made all the difference. From the moment I entered the hospital, you were attentive to my needs, explained the procedure to me in detail, and answered all my questions with patience and kindness.

During my hospital stay, you were always there to monitor my progress, administer medications, and make sure I was comfortable. Your expertise and attention to detail were evident in every aspect of my care. Your warmth and empathy made me feel like I was more than just a patient, but a person who mattered.

I can honestly say that I have never felt so well-cared-for as I did under your watchful eye. Your tireless efforts, unwavering commitment, and boundless kindness helped me recover from my surgery and gave me the strength to face the challenges ahead.

The ICU and heart hospital nurses were definite standouts.

I cannot thank you all enough for the exceptional care, and for going above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and cared for. You are all true assets to your profession and a credit to the hospital.

I had open heart surgery at Norfolk Sentara Heart Hospital in March of 2022. I cannot say enough about the expertise, compassion and care from everyone involved! Hospital staff consistently went above and beyond for me and my family. Every single staff member treated me as a VIP, always showing sincere compassion and enthusiasm (which was much needed during my experience). My entire medical team, including my surgeons, anesthesiologist, nurses, etc. were phenomenal! The skill of my surgical team and their decisions made during my surgery resulted in the best outcome for me. My family was constantly kept informed throughout the procedure, I was well informed before the procedure at every step of the way, and I received consistent follow up visits from members of my team. My team handling my post operative care lined up everything needed to support continued healing at home and provided thorough educational information prior to my release. Even at home, my nurse navigator continued contact to ensure all was well and my in-home services were being provided. I could not have had a better experience and my surgical outcomes have been a huge success! I will truly be forever grateful to everyone who cared for me!

Heart ICU team is incredible and so is the level of care

I had bypass surgery there on 1/5/2023. Everyone there from doctors and nurses to the nutrition and maintenance staff are just awesome. They made having major open heart surgery as pleasant an experience as it could be.

My mom had heart surgery at this hospital, and it was successful. Dr. Kemp is an excellent physician, and he made sure that my mom knew what to expect before surgery and after surgery. The staff is awesome because not only they made sure her heart was working, they kept an eye on her other organs to make sure that they were functioning properly. The nurses were helpful, and they worked with my mom to make sure she had a smooth recovery. I highly recommend this hospital for anyone who is having heart issues.

I had open heart surgery here in 2016. I had nothing but amazing experiences since walking through the door. I was extremely terrified and felt out of place and alone since I was 20 going through this kind of procedure. The nurses were so nice to me and treated me like a friend which is something I really needed. I remember one nurse in particular even came in on a day off to say goodbye to me before I was discharged. My patient navigator even taught me ways to relax and avoid panic attacks which were frequent after my procedure. It’s scary to think I will have to have open heart surgery again but I sleep better at night knowing I will be at sentara heart hospital.

I spent 4 days at the heart hospital. I expectnoted to be there only overnight but do to an unexpected complication had to stay longer. I came home today. The care from all of the staff and doctors was amazing. Kudos to you all. Very professional, friendly, honest, heart warming. My care could not have been any better. Thank you for all you do. You are loved. Happy New Year.

It's bad having to stay in a hospital. But if have to stay Sentara Heart Hospital is one of the best. I love each and every staff member especially the nursing staff. They all show great care, respect, and love to me, my family and friends.

We've had family here numerous times and our grandma was life flighted there yesterday. We have all been treated with respect. They have answered the questions they could and have worked with us while caring for her
They make you part of the team in caring for your loved one. Why can't the rest of the world function as well?

My surgery was much easier than I had expected. Staff in recovery are extremely sensitive and attentive.

I want to thank everyone that I came in contact with. It being my first time there, the receponist,the registrar,to the gentleman that done the testing for me. They all were very
professional with smiling faces. Again I say "Thank you☺

The care in the Cardiac Care far exceeds all expectations. Nurse Laura was exemplary every moment of a long day following my TAVR aorta valve replacement. The staff went over the top in care and attentiveness. Kudos to all involved on Dec 5th, 2018.

Dr. Wollett did an excellent job on an ablation. My mom has not had any wolf's Parkinson since. That was 10 yrs ago.The nurse was amazing to.

My wife is currently going through pre-op tests and has received wonderful care from the staff. From the valets, administration, nurses, technicians and doctors, everyone has shown professionalism, care, friendliness, concern every inch of the way. It eases our minds going into the next step.

Heart failure and a collapsed lung took me to Sentara unconscious. After 4 days in ICU, I awoke to learn that a virus had attacked my other wise healthy heart, (causing viral respiratory arrest) . This was pre-covid, but still the Sars virus was alive. I thank God for the dedicated staff at Sentara Norfolk General Heart Hospital, and for the Berkley Emergency Rescue team that kept me alive and delivered me to Sentara - without their swift response, and the prayer warriors who interceded on my behalf, it would have been bye bye to this old world.

I had ablation done for AFib on Dec 5th 2018.
This is Excellent hospital for heart. Doctor Gentlesk is a great doctor he performed my procedure he and his team saves lives on daily basis. God bless him. In recovery the staff and nurses were professional and very caring specially Nurse Laura and Mike. thank you all.

They are my heart transplant team. The very best in the world. I trust them with my life. Doctors and nursing staff are without a doubt the kindest group you’ve ever met.
