What a treat! We were traveling home from
Virginia Beach and decided to grab some
Breakfast. This place was amazing!!! Loved the million dollar bacon and our bowl!

First Watch is a hidden gem in Newport News. I've driven by it so many times and never thought to stop until today, when our original breakfast plan fell through. And wow, am I glad we did! The vibe is so welcoming and cozy, and the food is awesome. We're already planning to go back. It's a bit pricier than some other breakfast spots, but trust me, it's worth it. If you're up for treating yourself to a really good breakfast, you've got to try this spot!

This place was recommended by a coworker and I'm so glad I went!

The melty cheese on the toasted bread was chef's kiss. I couldn't put it down. The kale tonic was so tasty that you feel better immediately. I will be back to try more menu items, I already have the next three visits picked 😁

This place is always wonderful 😊 Last week I had the pleasure of going twice! Each time my food was delicious and the service was pleasant. My favorite is the Quinoa Power Breakfast ❤ I also tried the Egg Sandwich with Avocado and it was very tasty.

Oh my goodnesssss the food and fresh juices were GOOD. The flavors and textures of each dish complemented each other well and were cooked to perfection. A bit on the pricey side, but definitely worth every bite. Service was quick and courteous. It is a bit cramped, but very clean.

Great experience this time. A lot better than any other time. A table was available, and the staff were friendly, courteous, and quick. Food was out and I was able to get things done in a matter of minutes. I didn't feel like I was being ignored or dismissed like previous visits to the Newport News store. May not have been a good day for the personnel those days but didn't warrant a review either. I didn't return for months since it happened multiple times. This one was different. So 5 stars.

First time trying this restaurant and I ordered takeout (traditional and a waffle). The place was packed inside and outside which is a great sign to me that the food is good! Employees were super nice and the gentleman helping at the front desk even took time to calm a crying child by providing crayons and a coloring book. Great first experience! Food was fresh and delicious.

No lines to wait on a Monday morning at 10:30 am. We were seated promptly. There is an eclectic menu with many options. A suggestion would be to have pictures of the food. I found myself creepin on my neighbors near me to see what they ordered. I finally settled on old fashioned breakfast. Two eggs ,four bacon, half a toast and potatoes. It took fifteen minutes for our food (thus minus a star). Ordered my eggs medium (they were under done) it didn't matter because the waitress was so kind and helpful, I overlooked it. Scrumptious food great strong cafe. We got out of there two people $40 tip included. A little high yes, yes it was. Quality food absolutely.

Overall this was a 5 star restaurant. I have been to another location in Maryland, but this one was far better. The food was cooked perfectly. I got the waffle with home fries and fried egg white. It came with berries for the waffle, but it was better withou it. My sister got biscuits and gravy, which she loved. The drinks were good as well we both got a Kale Tonic. Which may sound gross, but the fuji apples in it make the drink sweet and refreshing. The only thing I think could have been better was the timing in which the food came out, and the waitress was nice, but didn't check on us after the food came out.

This place is a nice size, with outdoor seating. It's located in an area where you can do lots of shopping. I will definitely go back again.

Update 5/7/23
Came on. Sunday morning. We got 8n just before it got too crowded with a wait. We opted to sit on the patio because it was loud inside and the weather isn't too cold. The hostess that seated us was not friendly, and was irritated that we wanted to sit in the sunshine. Since the other tables were getting service, while we sat and were ignored, I am guessing she used her immature "control" to punish us for choosing a more appropriate table. When we finally asked, yes, we had to ask for service, the waitress came out and said no one told her we were out here. While a table that had literally been seated as our waitress was walking out the door, was greeted immediately. Each table with a different waitress. So far our waitress, now that we have one, has been fantastic.

Meal was delicious and waitress was good. Overall, another good experience, save for the immature hostess.

My first time to eat here. I have
picked up from this chain many times when I worked for DD and I saw it merely as a kitsch place I had no interest in. But, I like to treat my son to a meal once a week and he chose this place last week for breakfast.

I was pleasantly surprised to see all the gluten free items available to me. Everything looked tasty on the menu. I was focused on protein so I ordered the bacon avocado meal. Sorry, it's been two weeks since we are there and I can't remember what my son got, but I remember it had a huge slab of ham.

My food came out perfect. Bacon was fully cooked, but not burnt. YAY! We both enjoyed our meals. And, I will definitely be back.

I have been to every first watch in the Hampton roads region. The Newport News location has the best staff and most consistent food each time. I go daily each morning at 7:00 and it’s always a positive experience. The servers are polite, responsive, and friendly.

Had the 'Morning Glory' mimosa, black coffee, and farm fresh tacos. Food was hot and savory; nothing over the top. Mimosa was done well and was very refreshing. The highlight was the service. Walked in as a single party and was immediately taken to a table during a rush period (10am on a holiday morning). The server (Stephanie) was very friendly and even went out of her way to sit down with me and talk for a quick minute. I was from out of town and found this very formidable and pleasant. Definitely worth a return visit; 5 stars and a healthy tip for Stephanie and the First Watch team.

Amazing food! Good clean organic food. Love that! Will definitely be back to try other items.

Waiter (named Simmons) outstanding… helped with suggestions on gluten free options which were much appreciated! Definitely customer oriented😄Will be back soon!! Food delicious and service fast.

It was not a good day for us leading up to lunch, but we were still able to thoroughly enjoy our meal.
We ate on the patio, which caused a couple of minor inconveniences due to the wind, but other than that, it was a good time.
Definitely recommend.

This place is pretty awesomesauce.
The food is very delicious and they have great presentation as far as food and location and the place itself. Look at the pictures.

Make sure to reserve your seat in order to not stand waiting forever.

On the bright side there’s a community table too. It will serve just like regular table, but you’ll have other people there too. I liked it

April 5, 2023 - This was my first time experiencing First Watch, for breakfast, in a city and state other than Tennessee. This time I decided to try a different meal and a different beverage. First Watch portions are small/average, yet filling. I enjoyed the Tri-Fecta, which consisted of two fresh cage-free eggs, French toast (I substituted for the Belgian waffle or a multigrain pancake) and turkey links. I had a side mixed green salad and I sipped a Purple Haze (lemon, cane sugar, butterfly pea flower tea and a hint of lavender).

I love this place. The food is great and the servers are so friendly. Every time I come to Virginia I try to come here. Have to add more pics to my original review. I'm back again. My husband has used the word perfect several times while eating. 😁

The food was good , it’s very loud and busy in there . Service was great . I had 2 servers help me and they were so nice and fast. I couldn’t believe the stories ive heard from serval staff members ,how many people will come to eat and run up a bill and not leave a tip !!! I’ve never worked the food industry but that’s so crazy to me when people can pay for food but not for a service they use! These servers have jobs and make a living off these tips ! They don’t get paid more than $3 an hour without tips! I’m assuming these people that dont leave tips are the scum that shouldn’t be eating there in the first place ! Point being , if you can NOT afford to TIP then don’t bother eating there Period !
