I have eaten here so many times. The food is amazing especially the shrimp and mac and cheese- good ole' southern cooking at its best! My last visit was particularly amazing due to the two young men who were working. They were super respectful and showed great care with how they processed my order. They turned my day around... It was a refreshing experience because I had just been at the "the Panda Express restaurant" across the parking lot and encountered rude and very disrespectful employees. My experience at Taste of Soul was quite the opposite and I really wanted to give these young men their "props." Whomever raised them should be very proud! In addition, the owner (Yvette) could teach a class on "How to treat a customer." There was a SMALL issue with my order which I didn't find out about until I got home. Upon calling the restaurant and talking with Yvette, NOT ONCE did she make me feel like I was a bother or that I was the problem. She immediately not only suggested a resolution but also offered to make it better. Thank you Yvette and Corey for running a top notch restaurant with world class service and food!

I honestly can’t say enough good things about this delicious soul food restaurant! I have been several times over the past month, and my meal has impressed me every time!

Highlights: Epic oxtails (huge, tender, meaty), super cheesy baked mac & cheese, some of the best potato salad I’ve ever had, fork tender delicious smothered pork chops, amazing chicken livers!

Lowlight: The cornbread is a bit dry/crumbly for my tastes, but it still tastes good.

I have been here three times and love this place. The service is great and there is not enough space to tell you how good the food is. There are a very nice variety to choose from too. I really hope they be here a long time.

After a recent delightful trip to Blue Spring State Park, my girlfriend and I decided to visit nearby Taste of Soul for what we hoped would be a delicious take-out meal. Upon further review and in our opinion, Taste of Soul certainly lives up to its name!

She ordered the shrimp and fries, with sides of macaroni and cheese grits, while I ordered the fish, shrimp and fries with a side of mac and cheese and a drink. While briefly waiting in store for our meals to be ready, I tried some of their Party Punch--and am delighted I did! Reminiscent of Kool Aid, it was potent and had great flavor---a little bit surely goes a long way!

Upon receiving our meals, we dug in and were truly impressed! The shrimp and fish were both nicely but not over breaded, perfectly fried to a golden brown, and the meat was fresh, tender and plump. The fries were decent (crinkle cuts are always fantastic), but easily upstaged by the deliciousness of the mac and cheese and cheese grit sides.

The restaurant staff all were polite, engaging, and full of smiles and laughter! We greatly look forward to returning to Taste of Soul in the future!

The owner herself dished out the delicious food she had so lovingly prepared including fried chicken that had been fried that instant.

OMG the mashed potatoes and gravy!
Excellent broad green beans.
For dessert a splendid piece of red velvet cake with fresh cream cheese frosting $4.75.
She said..."you'll be back".
She is right.
Everybody in the restaurant...mind you it was the middle of the day and this restaurant was still busy...was enjoying the food and the regulars were coming and going...

I don’t like eating fried foods often but when I do this a place I go to. Last night we got a 12 piece with 2 lg sides, cornbread and cake. When we got home and food was served I all but swallowed the bones eating it how great it was. This morning I woke up to my 2 youngest rummaging through the box of leftovers eating it for breakfast!! That alone should tell you how good it is!! Taste of soul will feed your soul.

if youre hungry, want to feel like family, and get great service, come here. my girls and i stopped here after a day at the springs and it was an hour before closing(sundays they close at 6 so try to get there earlier as the menu gets slimmer as the day goes on and the food is sold out. but that was ok bc i ended up with the most fire fried chicken i think i have ever had. and it came with two big sides, and a drink for $11. i ordered two extra sides bc they were only like 1.50 and they looked so good. an they were. I had the cabbage, green beans, mac and cheese, and white northern beans. everything was delicious and the staff was prompt, super courteous, and checked on us to make sure everything was satisfactory. i wish i wouldve gotten her name bc she had a one year old at home as well so she got us everything we needed . To the staff - Thanks for an amazing meal and keep up the good work
To whoevers reading this - Dont give corporations your money for garbage “food” when you could be spending less and eating way better at places like this locally owned small business.

Amazing food beyond words. I can not even get the words in for how much I am beyond impressed with the quality, taste and friendly staff! Highly recommend this place. It's a hidden gem! You gotta try, for it is food out of the world. It is heavenly!

Been trying for awhile to come by “Taste of soul” and well IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT every bite felt like a home cooked meal just full of flavor! Forsure a great spot with good people making good soulful food

Very personable, great place to sit and eat. Atmosphere is great! Food is a 10!! We drive from Palm coast and we are NYers, this good is amazing!!! Definitely worth the ride. Great prices also

We absolutely love this place is. The food taste delicious and they are very reasonably priced. Clean, sanitized and peaceful environment. They make wonderful cake and cornbread as well. Management are very pleasant.

Very good Soul food restaurant. Try the Fried or Smothered Pork Chops.
Fried Shrimp and Chicken are both very good. All the sides and desserts are great as well.

First time at Taste of Soul. It was absolutely delicious. We shared a meal and had the fried chicken which was crispy, tender and juicy. They offered lots of sides and we chose the beautifully seasoned green beans and the macaroni and cheese with a delicious crunchy baked topping. I would also like to commend the staff. The ladies were kind and very helpful in guiding us through the menu choices and checked on us as we dined. We can't wait to go again. 😊

Honestly the best fried chicken I ever had. It is like gold. It was a great place for a date with my girl.they serve the food cafeteria style 2 sides one entree and they give you enough for leftovers. I highly reccomend it to anyone.

Service was excellent. Friendly staff. Food was fresh and cooked to order. Priced reasonable. Clean restrooms. Ample parking in the plaza. Carrot cake was awesome fresh fried chicken and fresh fried jumbo shrimp.

Delicious fried chicken! Moist on the inside and great crispy crust! Mac and cheese tastes like the homemade that I make. we’ve been three times this past month. Everyone is very friendly and even came to our table our first time to make sure we all liked our food. The only negative for me would be the sweet tea…..it was way too sweet and they don’t offer unsweetened. All in all a good meal!

It gets 5 stars I had 4 but, it keeps getting better and better everytime! Fried pork chops last week, and now finally meatloaf! Gotta get there early before they run out! Oh and the chocolate cake is to die for! Trust me I know good food when I eat there! I should get paid for a food critic! js lol 😆 The service is awesome as well just like family!
