Simply the best. So close to home. Has been there for our family through thick and thin, supplying three generations of our Scandinavian-American crew with lovely, cherished gifts throughout the years. They know my son by name, and ever since he was little have helped us “keep our gifts secret” from each other. So sweet. This is our go-to Christmas shop. Even though the weather outside may be frightful, we know we can always come in for a warm, mulled drink and Anna’s cookies, and shop for this year’s prettiest Christmas decoration.

This is an absolute gem in the Black Hills! The owner was delightful and so incredibly kind to my children. They didn't want to leave! The selection is fabulous and high quality. I loved their selection of books that so beautifully displayed the culture. The products are very reasonably priced. We will definitely be heading back to do a lot of our Christmas shopping here!

House of Scandinavia is an amazing little shop tucked in the heart of the Black Hills. Going there since I was a child, my love for this place and the owners has only grown through the years. It's got heritage arts, clothing, food, candles, Christmas decorations and more. It's got everything imaginable for your european heritage and so quaint and unforgettable. The owners too are amazing; helpful, friendly and interested.

If I could give 10 Stars I would!!! The selections and value are absolutely amazing and can only be surpassed by the excellent customer service of the owner.
I moved here from Germany and was beyond impressed with the variety of things I could buy locally here. Needless to say, I do all my unique grocery shopping here. When in need of a beautiful gift, I look no further, then to House of Scandinavia. I love absolutely EVERYTHING about this place, which bears such history, and is a beautiful asset to our Norwegian ( Scandinavian) community.

Great gifts, and a nice selection of Scandinavian food and chocolate.

It's a "Scandinavia-centric" gift shop, and it's fairly nice. It has a wide variety of items on the theme of the store. If you have family members like mine who like these sorts of themed products, it's a good place to go. Not necessarily a deep selection of products (say of clothing or plates), but a good introduction to what's available.

No public restroom, however, so if you've been driving a while, maybe stop elsewhere first.

Such a fun little shop with lots of things from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Norway. I got a Viking book and Viking hat for my nephew last year for Christmas. He still puts it on and has me the read the book in an accent every time I see him! Great store!!!

This little store has a lot to offer. Due to much of it being imported from Scandinavia, there is a premium on all the prices. However, compared to similar stores, it's actually very reasonable. They sell food, chocolate, books, decorations, etc. If you're going up to the Black Hills, I recommend stopping by.

What a great shop! My friend and I stopped in while visiting the area, and we ended up spending about an hour looking at all of the different items. There's a great selection of things from all Scandinavian countries. We most enjoyed looking at the books and kitchen items, and there are tons of other things, including food items, clothing (like sweaters and clogs), cards, Christmas ornaments, dishes, jewelry... You name it. I love baking and was impressed with how many cake-baking and lefse-making tools they have. The woman (owner?) working in the store was very helpful and friendly, too. Would definitely recommend stopping in and doing a little shopping for yourself or to buy gifts.

Love this place... beautiful gifts!! Just wish they had a website... Purchased gifts there in 2012 and would now like to order more, but no website. If you are in the area, stop and shop!! Best Scandinavian plus more..... family owned and I really enjoyed meeting the mother, next day her daughter. Very Nice!!

It rained the last day of our trip, so we decided to kill some time before our flight in the House of Scandinavia. I'm so glad we did!! I found a perfect NY Form troll for my brother to go with the one he inherited from our grandfather years ago. Now his home will have twice the luck and protection! Everything in the store was beautiful and the staff was friendly and warm. Hope to be back soon.

Love this store. Happened on it on our trip to Mt. Rushmore and had to double back to take a look. Wonderful fun stuff inside and all primarily Swedish although lots of Finnish, Norwegian, Danish and even Dutch delft ware. Lovely!

I can't say enough how much I love this store. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The merchandise is genuine and I have never gotten something I regretted buying. If you visit one store in the Black Hills, visit here

Such a great slice of Scandinavia. Went to get my cranky Norwegian father a new lefsa stick and hat for Christmas. Had a great selection of items at a decent price as well as some samples of goodies to get.
