I visited this place for takeout a week or so ago and didn’t enjoy it as much as a I thought I would, but then the owner reached out to me and wanted to make it right which I really appreciate. I can finally say, now that I’ve been in the place that it is absolutely beautiful on the inside! Everyone working here is super friendly which is great aswell, overall environment was a 10/10 for me. I tried the burger with bacon and egg and it was one of the best burgers and fries I’ve ever had! like I said, I really appreciate the owner for making it right, I will definitely be coming back in the future. If you’re looking for a good place to eat for breakfast and lunch this is exactly what you’re looking for! :)

We reached out to discuss catering options for a Christmas Party for our business. The owner, offered their location for a very reasonable fee and that was the best decision we made! The location is so cute and stylish. It is perfect for a cafe or a small company or social event. Even the bathrooms smell amazing and are super clean!! The food was DELICIOUS! He helped us customize the menu with anything we wanted. They met us that evening to make sure everything is exactly as we had hoped and were so attentive to helping us get apps, dinner and dessert out when we liked it! We all will be back, not only for next year's party, but some amazing breakfast or lunch too!!! Thank you so much for having us!

I love Bulrushes! It’s by far my favorite breakfast and lunch place in Southern Maryland. I still have yet to go to dinner, but anything they make always leaves me craving more the next day. The owner and staff are amazing and support our community veterans. Thank you for always being my place to go.

Great little business with friendly, competent staff. The way it works is you grab a menu, seat yourself, then when you’re ready you order and pay at the bar. They’ll give you a number and bring your food to your table. We went on a Saturday morning (party of two) and it was pretty busy, but we still managed to find a table. They offer a gluten free bread option and a make your own omelette. The coffee seemed a little pricey at first ($5/cup), but when I asked a waitress about it she told me they get it locally from Chesapeake Bay Coffee company in Silver Spring, MD. So the big takeaway is everything about this place is supportive of local businesses. Their coffee mugs are local schools and businesses. They sell local coffee. They have local business cards when you walk through the front door. It’s a great little vibe in here. Highly recommend.

Finally was able to stop in and see what all the fuss was about! Took my mom because I knew she would like several of the menu items she can't find at other places. We came in at 1pm an hour before closing. Right off the bat greeted by friendly staff and service overall was excellent. Mom had the gyro and ordered a stuffed ham sandwich to go (it was enough for two people!) I had the crab dog and let me tell you it was delicious with the sauce on it and a potato hot dog bun. Big steak fries were good too. Next time we will go early and try breakfast.

This place is my go to place whenever I am in the area. I have had waffles, french toast, eggs/bacon, omelettes and everything was delicious. Others I know have had lunch and said the same. The Eggs Benedict (only on Sunday) is simply amazing and well worth the drive. This is a small business and I like to support small businesses so for those that are saying you didn't like something I would ask you this....did you ask to speak to the owner? He is ALWAYS there talking with the customers. If he is not out on the floor he is probably helping in the back, just ask to speak with him. He will make it right, he cares about this business wholeheartedly. This business does so much for teachers, police officers, firefighters, EMS, and especially the military. The ordering concept is explained as soon as you walk in, if you do not understand it, simply ask there are enough regulars that will explain it to you. It may be a little more costly, but the food is excellent and always fresh. The atmosphere is very relaxed, you can sit and chat after you finished your meal. Just think before you leave a negative review about a place, if it were your business would you want people to do the same without speaking to you first.

This is a great local business. The food was fantastic and the service was great. We had four families with a bunch of young kids and the staff was very accommodating. The "Irene" was a delicious version of a BLT, highly recommend.

First time here at this spot. Was In the area looking for some good breakfast/brunch food and came across this place on google and loved the reviews on the food. The reviews didn’t lie a bit. The food was soooo delicious, tasteful, fresh and well done. I got the biscuit on top of a hot honey chicken, and fried egg with a side of cheesy grits. NO COMPLAINTS on the food. Only thing once I set down and my food came the servers lacked with coming to me or any other customers to see how we were doing, how was the food, and if we needed anything. We all was just on our own at the point of getting our food and if we needed anything we had to seek help from a server. The customer service can be better with that, that is so important.

A little different set up than most restaurants. When you walk in you grab a menu and seat yourself. Then once you've decided what to order you go up to the counter to do so. Very friendly workers. I ordered the Eggs Benedict chicken and waffles and it was delicious! The chicken was tender and flavorful, the waffle was fluffy and sweet, the poached eggs were a oddly great addition. I would definitely come back here just for that.

This was my second time going here and once again I was not disappointed. I got a little bit confused when I walked in because I didn’t know where to go but I figured it out in the end. The boy who took my order has completely changed from the last time I saw him. He was very soft spoken and I felt a little bit bad for the kid. But this time around he was a new person taking my order with confidence that I never thought he could have. Bravo young man!! The food was good (the boy gave me his personal recommendation of chicken and waffles) and it did not disappoint! And the service was amazing with me not even having to ask for a coffee refill. I will most defiantly be coming back!!!

So I am gluten free, and did not think that I would find anything to eat here, and was surprised when I did. The omelets were amazingly good, the GF muffins were to die for. they were not dry, had flavor, and did not tast like cardboard.
The staff was nice and friendly. Its a great place to start your you day.

This is a fantastic breakfast spot! The food is always on point and it’s not your run of the mill offerings. There is a wide variety of offerings. My go-to is always a croissant with sausage, egg and cheese with a side of potatoes.

Definitely deserves a 5 star rating. Very pleased we have a Cafe of this caliber in Central Calvert County. High quality food perfectly prepared. Sausage gravy with biscuit was delicious (large portion, I couldn't finish it all. Had remainder for breakfast the next day). The pizza scone and cinnamon roll with caramel were amazing. Thank you Bulrushes, you will be seeing a lot of me.

Eat breakfast there every day. Val is excellent. She always has my coffee ready. The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. Great portions!

Delicious food that is not fast food with excellent service!

The food is amazing. A friend of ours recommended this place and it’s doesn’t disappoint. My wife and I both ate the Chicken biscuits. Portions are generous and seasoned really well. We’re from the south so you know we had to try their sweet tea….know what they’re doing. Definitely will be back.

Awesome food and service!! Owner was very friendly and went out of his way to make sure the food was to our satisfaction! My team and I will be definitely be back next week for free breakfast on Thursday!!

We were there for a private party. The food, especially the BBQ brisket was incredible! I had assumed they brought in food from outside!

The ONLY downside was that it got so loud because of the setup that causes an echo inside the restaurant. It was also super hot inside, so perhaps the a/c system only works full-time during regular business hours?

It was still an amazing meal!

This place is great 98% of the time, and I mean great. Food is better than anywhere else in Southern Maryland.

A amazing cafe with a modern comfortable atmosphere and a friendly environment. The food was wonderful and I look forward to going back again to trysomething else. I am very happy we have a cafe like this in our town.
