Dec. 19, 2021 - If the Christmas elves go on “ STRIKE” . . . this is the place for cool gifts for all ages! This is my favorite gift store in Freeport! Located on Main Street across from L L Bean store, easy to find with loads of parking out back of the store and 1 block down the hill!

After talking with the sales lady . . . Back in 1967 when the owner was in her late teens or early 20’s she worked at the original Mangy Moose Saloon/Restaurant/Liquor Store/Gift Shop in Jackson Hole Wyoming! Then relocating to Maine, the woman negotiated a deal to open her own “ Mangy Moose” gift shop in Freeport Maine around the mid 1990’s!

This Mangy Moose has a wide variety of gifts ! Kitchen cutting boards in the shape of a moose, to Christmas Moose pj’s ! I like the fun books for our grandnephews & grandnieces entering their TEEN years? Sure we come off as Old & Crazy which means my wife & I are memorable! ( photos 🤪) The Birthday & Anniversary cards are a hoot! Also the t-shirts with funny captions & photos are a HOOT!

*Baby moose are called CALVES

*Moose are in the DEER family

*Moose eat grass, branches, etc. Herbivores

*Wolves & Bears prey on Moose

I love love love this store!!! A must if your going to Freeport Maine! There are so many interesting little gifts, but great quality gifts you cant find everywhere. I recommend stopping by.

Fun little gift shop on Main Street in Freeport. They have everything and anything. I really loved all the different variety of items. Finding gifts and Knick nacks here will be easy. Pricing was fair and nothing outrageous. Quality seemed great.

Great store full of eclectic and fun items. If you go read the book selection titles, they are humorous! I can't say enough about our cashier (user 56), she was engaging and conversational and made you feel appreciated for coming in!!

SUPER helpful staff, especially Ella! I was trying to replace my niece's fave souvenir from last summer's vacation that she had outgrown. Ella sent me texts of all the best tees for little ones and shipped my selection right out in time to save a very special four year old's birthday.

Really groovy and eclectic assortment of gifts and collectibles. Lots of fun and comical items at prices to fit any budget. Overall, this shop is possibly the best of its kind in town.

We loved this store. My favorite item was the t-shirt blankets they have! BUT, my favorite thing about this store is their customer service! My daughter left her change purse accidentally in the store while we were visiting Freeport on a family vacation. We didn't know that she left it until the next day. So we took a shot in the dark and contacted them on the phone to see if they had seen it. They were so kind! Because we had to fly out that day that we called, we asked them if we could pay for them to mail it to us. They were so accommodating even to the point that they said they would send it without me needing to pay them. My daughter went from tears to a smile and its all because their are still really good, kind and helpful people in this world. THANK YOU Mangy Moose!!! We can't wait to visit your store again!

Funky Americana meets Maine tourism emporium based on the western saloon in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Some typical gift focused items along side taxidermy and other authentic Americana. Good T-shirt selection. Lots of humorous items, interior décor and outfitting stuff, definitely worth a visit.
