Nice quaint little place downtown Birmingham. This Thai place is really delicious and praise worthy! Food is fresh and there is something for every diet, restriction and limited spice palate! The menu has a huge variety to pick from and if you see a dish you like, you can even personalize it by omitting an ingredient or adding ingredients. The waiter was very resourceful and knowledgeable to recommend dishes and heat level that we would like. Be prepared to feed the meter as it’s only 1 hour parking and you’ll need to go back out to extend your time. Well worth it for the flavorful food you get!

My my my! I m a soul food lover, and these dishes did great justice to my taste buds.

I visited them on a fresh Saturday morning. Ordered crispy shrimp, potato curry, sy’s thai fried rice, panang cury and thai basil fried rice.

Everything was made to the best spice level and the quantity was great.

Will keep visiting 💕

Delicious, incredibly fast service, and a very nice waiter. The only sad thing was that there was not yellow curry on the menu.

I have been going here for about 25 years (maybe more) now, and the food has been pretty consistent and very good.

I met the manager Alex and he was excellent and helping me pick out yummy dishes. The waitress was very kind and attentive also.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. While it can get quite busy at times, the wait staff were friendly. My meal was the generous portions of food at a very reasonable price. I was impressed with the variety of dishes on offer and everything I tried was delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for good Thai food in downtown. Despite the crowds, the service was top-notch and the value for money was unbeatable. If you're in the area, don't miss out on this gem!

My daughter ordered me some food from this place a few months ago. She knows I am particular about restaurants, especially since I am a caterer. The take out food was amazing... We went there a few days later to dine in. The clientele appeared to be enjoying their food, the setting was kind of small and personable, the atmosphere seemed warm and inviting and the hostess and waitress was friendly and very helpful. She seated us where we wanted to eat. I wanted the sunshine, my daughter preferred to pull the shade for less sunlight. I ordered the exact meal my daughter bought a few days earlier... It was the same quality and quantity... It was clear to me the chef takes pride the food... The place was clean, the windows were clean, the silverware were sparkling clean and judging from the food on other people plates, the serve a nice variety of great food... I plan to return there.

The service here was superior!! We were able to dine in and enjoy a great meal together. The food portions were great for the price. The service was quick, the waiter was extremely attentive and was more than willing to help with my families questions and allergy warnings. He even checked the name of a song on the radio for my wife lol. The restaurant is clean and seems to be taking the proper measures to help not spread Covid. This place is amazing!

Been going to the Troy and Birmingham locations for years. Can't comment on the service as I've always gotten carry out but they have hands down the best Chicken Pad Thai I've ever had! Recently moved to the west side of the state and absolutely nothing compares. Get it every single time I come back. Wish they would open a spot in Grand rapids! They'd make a killing!

Outstanding Thai food (according to my standards as a white woman of European ancestry). Great vegan options. Good spice level variations too. This place is a staple for us.

I tried something new: Thai Peanut with scallops. It was oh so delicious! The scallops were succulent and the sauce was not overwhelming. I coupled it with mango juice and I was truly satiated. The portion was plentiful, as I had to bring home half of the meal. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are seeking authentic Thai food. It's a quaint place with congenial service.

Had lunch with my brother and decided to go with Thai. Admittedly, I have only been to a Thai restaurant about twice in my life, but the last time (which was a few years ago in Southern Ohio) really stuck with me. Sy Thai did not disappoint. I tried the potato curry, and quickly remembered why I should frequent Thai restaurants more often. The waitress was incredibly helpful and friendly, and the entire experience was very pleasant. Next time I'm in the Birmingham area I will keep this place in mind :)

Amazing food at a great price! I ate here for lunch one day and the service always amazing and the food came out quickly. The server was very attentive to my tables needs

I ordered take-out lunch, and when I got home I was initially disappointed with the perceived portions. Happy to say that I was wrong. The lunch portion was perfect and I ordered very hot food and was very pleasantly surprised by the fantastic flavor and heat 🔥 from what I ordered! I will definitely be a regular customer from now on!!!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THEIR FOOD. One of the best Thai food I have tasted and I MUST MUST recommend their chicken Pad Thai. The sauce is sweet, but not too sweet. It's so mouth watering! The people there are so friendly as well!! They provide great customer service :) Definitely a must go to!!!!

Small thai joint off of the side streets of downtown Birmingham. Parking can be a problem in busy times, might have to walk from a couple blocks. You will most likely have to pay for parking as well.

The inside is cozy and has nice booths and tables. The atmosphere is quiet, with a nice ambience and attention to Asian culture.

Service was excellent, and we got our bill promptly which let us enjoy our time talking.

Food selection is very good, with many different choices from standard pad Thai to classic Thai entrees. Also allow the choice of many different meats and seafood to accompany the dishes.

Price was great for the amount of food received. Will definitely be returning. They also allow for carryout.

Everyone has a local Thai joint that they will say is "the best". I have tried a wide variety of Thai restaurants in the area and though there are a lot of "good" Thai restaurants I consistently compare them to Sy Thai Cafe in Birmingham.

The sesame chicken is A+ as well if you are not in the mood for noodles. If you are in the area I will always recommend this place for consistent good food.

The restaurant looked clean. Clean tables, clean floors, the kitchen looked clean from the outside of the doors. I didn't stay to eat but picked up carryout and left.

I had to go find a staff member to help me because no one was at the host stand.

My order took some time to come out but it was hot and fresh. The service was a little slow but maybe I arrived too fast after placing the order???
