We stayed here for a wedding and it was absolutely amazing at every turn. The staff was so incredibly accommodating. Special shout out to the girls behind the bar. They were not only great bartenders, but brought great energy and service. There is a little coffee shop that made a delicious latte and great little burritos.

We stayed in the Lagoon rooms, which were lovely. You can definitely here when people are walking on the porches above you, but the inn provides a great white noise machine.

The views were incredible and there were so many different picturesque spots around the inn's grounds. Cannot recommend this place enough. Incredibly tranquil and serene.

We did not stay at the hotel, however our date night here was absolutely amazing. The staff is very calming and nice which goes hand and hand with how cozy the environment is inside. To top it off the food and drinks were delicious. Will definitely return.

Incredible atmosphere. Everyone was extremely nice and you can really enjoy the hotel and the property down to the little details.
S’mores at the fire for free, the staff can light up a fire outside on request, etc.

The views are magnificent, specially if you catch a foggy morning, and the ambiance at night is magical.

The restaurant is fantastic as well with one of the best cocktails I’ve seen in a long time.

I’m planning to come back here in 3 weeks again just because I was so amazed

We brought special guests for dinner at the restaurant, and had a wonderful evening. From the kind warmth of the greeting we received (even though we had messed up our dinner reservation date on the booking site and they weren't expecting us till the following evening) to the superb cuisine, great service and delightful old-world ambience, we can't wait for another special occasion to visit this special place again.

Had a lovely stay here with my girlfriend over the weekend. There are cabins that are separate and rooms in the main old and rustic lodge. I can't speak as to the experience of the cabins as I stayed in the lodge portion. We came on a Sunday in late May, so the whole place was I'm sure a little quieter than a Friday or Saturday.

The lodge itself is a well kept time capsule that felt like we were back living in 1907, but with power. Room 2 and 4 seem to be the best ones in the lodge area, and the staff were nice enough to give us a free upgrade to room 2 from the smaller room 7.

Food at the restaurant was excellent and nice portions. Had excellent clams/mussels, the meat board, and chowder. We sat at the bar, though clearly there is quite a bit of business at the restaurant portion of the restaurant, so if you want a table, it's best to book ahead. You can hear the restaurant noise and music from the rooms, though it's hardly a big deal if you're not super picky. Noise we heard from the restaurant was simply faint sounds of Bob Dylan and other classic music playing through the speakers downstairs. This is an experience, not necessarily the nicest hotel you've ever been to, though experience it undoubtedly a 100/10!

Stayed in a cabin with my husband and 2 year old and had the best time. Gorgeous property, great for kids, beautiful views and the food was excellent (I read reviews for the restaurant that were underwhelming and that was definitely not our experience- the mussels, burger, scallops and tomato salad were all outstanding).

I've had the pleasure of staying at The Captain Whidbey Inn twice now over the last few years. Both times have been for work and it's been so relaxing and fulfilling each time. It's so fun to stay in a historical place with so much natural beauty its the perfect place to go for an escape into nature. I've stayed in lagoon rooms and the rooms inside the lodge, just need to add a cabin stay to my list for next time! The food is amazing too and I loved the coffee shop on site that was new for my most recent visit. If you're thinking of coming to visit read through their website there's lots of great info that can help with choosing your lodging experience.

It's rad, I promise.

Also, I mistakenly wrote a review on another app platform for my stay here and thought it was another hotel (in Seattle...sorry). So i'm posting this one as a matter of good faith, because I dug the place so much. Spent just a single night here in the early spring and loved the location, people I met, and overall vibe. For all the boutique hotels that sprung up over the years, this one has a good blend of design and classic character, not just drenched in trend. The old lodge was cozy, and when I went in, people were playing trivia as a fire crackled. If I didn’t have a little one back in the room, I would have stayed a while. The Location is great and view is even better.

You should go.

This place is hidden gem and has a breathtaking view. It is so quite and peaceful. The hotel was built in 1907 and they still keep the original windows. The front desk people are so helpful with any request you have. I want to make a shout out to Umi(hope I pronounced her name correctly). Her positive energy is so inspiring!

Captain Whidbey is the place to stay.

My friends and I slept in the lodge for two nights (tues/weds) and spent the whole time utterly charmed. There was some hesitance over the shared bathrooms at first, but it didn’t end up being a problem for us as there was never any wait to get in and there were little sinks in each room. We made sure to take advantage of the kayaks, relaxation room, and sauna and we enjoyed our first night eating at the restaurant so much that we booked it for our second night as well.

The whole staff was not only helpful but so welcoming and friendly that we felt very much at home. Shout out to Cassidy in the cafe for making top-notch coffees and banter!

Very nice service.
I had a special requirement and the manager/the boss .. not sure. But an elderly man.. catered to my request in a such warm way.

I was so impressed with the way he dealt with a customers requirement.. I came here to give a 5 star reviews.

Also the food was great. Amazing burger..

It has a hidden area for some amazing water view photos.

This is the type of hotel I want to stay at everywhere I go. It is absolutely perfect. I want to applaud the vision someone had in making the building into Captain Whidbey Inn. The preservation of the original building is something that is harder to come upon, and I admire that. Thank you for such a wonderful stay. I will come back.

My family had an amazing stay. We were on property for two nights and enjoyed the eclectic, historic atmosphere, exceptional food and some unique encounters with nature. We enjoyed playing the family games, lounging together in the tree net and observing a recently born seal pup hanging around the doc. We named him Seymour. It was a great time and the staff was amazing. Don’t miss the morning coffee, party and quiche offered in the little shop on site. The restaurant was also amazing for dinner-exceptional chef.

Stayed for 2 nights last week while we attended a wedding at Deception Pass. The resort is stunning and the vibe is very laid back. We did not eat at the restaurant, but we enjoyed the fire pits and unlimited firewood both nights. The on-site coffee shop in the morning was great with lots of creative drinks and the standards. Our lagoon room was recently updated. The bathroom was like-new. I wish the room had a refrigerator since we had a toddler with us and weren’t able to keep milk or cold snacks. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

I cannot say enough good things about Captain Whidbey. I have stayed in the main lodge and the Glasswing Cabin and both experiences were phenomenal. The staff is exceptionally kind and accommodating, they will go out of their way to make sure you have a comfortable stay. The grounds are absolutely breathtaking and relaxing. The restaurant & bar in the lodge is incredible - Stephanie is by far the best waitress I’ve ever had. She has the best vibe of anyone in a restaurant I’ve ever encountered! Not to mention the food is locally sourced and delicious with exceptional cocktails to pair. If you are considering a relaxing but lively stay on Whidbey, look no further than Captain Whidbey. I will surely be back again.

We had a truly lovely stay at captain whidbey. The grounds are magical, you feel transported away from reality. The hiking options on the coastal cliffs around the island provide spectacular views of the San Juan islands. The food program is top notch, we had excellent meals at the Inn. The service is impeccable and each dish that was served was better than the next. I’d go back just to eat a meal. The neighboring town of Coupeville is cute and nice to walk around/pop into different shops and eateries. The last time I stayed there was years ago before the renovation, things have been tastefully upgraded which made our stay more comfortable. Our room was really well done. The best part is how accessible captain whidbey is from the city, it’s such a luxury to have as getaway so close. Strongly recommend and will be returning in the summer when I hear it’s even better.

Although the historic rooms above the tavern are loud and creaky and I'm pretty sure haunted based on the noises i heard at my door at 2am, having a room overlooking the cove was awesome, beds were comfy and the tavern fares were great.

We had dinner at Captain Whidbey’s - we had several appetizers which is one of my favorite ways to have dinner. We had the Charcuterie Board, Mussels and Clams, and Salmon Jamon - all were fantastic. The Paper AirPlane cocktail was tasty and refreshing. Oh, and have the Dilly Bread - just outstanding food and our server was fantastic. Really, Really, loved it!

I ate in the restaurant, and my experience was remarkable both for the setting, which I have long loved, and for the food. The meal was elegant, inventive, and satisfying. The flavor combinations went far beyond what I hoped for, and the artistry in the presentation was impeccable. I love this iteration of the Captain Whidbey.
