Integrated Martial Sciences (IMS) Academy

I am so glad that I chose IMS when we moved to Santa Cruz and my eldest son wanted to continue doing martial arts. Five years later, both of my sons go to IMS two to three times a week, where they know they can count on a good, fun workout. I know I can count on my sons learning mixed martial arts in an environment that is safe and that also unequivocally teaches them that the art belongs in the dojo--and not on the playground--and that using these skills outside of the dojo would only ever be a very last resort after multiple attempts at communication and de-escalation. The instructors are fabulous in maintaining a class where the students learn technique, get exercise, and have fun. They also learn discipline, self-control, and that improvement requires a lot of hard work, practice, and dedication. My sons always want to go on their birthday and usually want to stay after the class is over, but when I do get them to leave, they walk out with red cheeks, wet hair, an empty water bottle, and are excited to share snippets of the class. As a parent, I am happy knowing that they are walking out more able each day and with more confidence in themselves and their abilities. IMS is an important part of the “village” that helps me raise my boys, providing amazing body and mind education that encompases overall fitness, specific martial arts skills, and essential qualities that will serve them throughout their life. But don’t tell my kids; they’re just having fun!

Excellent trainers, great facility. If you want to compete or just get in shape IMS is a great choice.
