Our favorite restaurant in Port Townsend! So good we went 2 nights in a row during our trip. We came back for their amazing pasta and ice cream! The seasonal ice cream was apple pie and it’s the best! Their devil eggs and scallops are our favorites we’ve had so far! The amazing staff recognized us from the night prior, it was nice talking to them about the food and our preferences.

What an astonished great place for dinner! Everything was delicious and busting with flavor. The service was perfect and matched the price, which is rare now days. Everything we had was spectacular.

It is always a delight to come to Finistere, at any season of the year. Oysters are always amazing and main course and desserts creative, seasonal and tasty.

My apologies to the good people of Finistére as this review is a couple days overdue. I can’t stop thinking about what a wonderful evening it was. I was feeling a bit glum, so I decided to treat myself at what I now, easily regard as the best restaurant in town. Amy served me throughout the evening. She was fluent with the seasonally-changing menu and emanated warmth and welcoming with every word. The staff and owners work as a team and every interaction was a high note.

Now... for the food! I began with four oysters, the pairings were classic and fresh and the level of brine was exactly as described. Yum! The deviled eggs were splendid and indulgent as ever. Now the liver mousse and onion jam was exceptional, ever bite was a literal delight. I couldn’t stop grinning and swaying to the music as I reveled. I hesitated to also order the leek and potato soup, but this was one of those nights, so of course, I did, and was rewarded. Each bite was a firework of continually unexpected, understated flavor. The infused oil, the tiny croutons, oh Chef, you’re making me swoon! I enjoyed the creamy polenta with my Parisian (Duck Confit) Gnocchi and left my body for the span it took to enjoy the dish. It didn’t even occur to me that I was getting full as I was absorbed in a dream-like stupor over the melt-in-your-mouth textures, the fatty indulgence, and glorious acidity in the accompany flavors. Just wow. Full as I was, I was almost daring this evening to ascend to a ridiculous level of perfection by ordering dessert. I ordered the toffee pudding paired with the Flor de Jerez aperitif. Good lord. Credit goes to Amy for encouraging me in that direction. Clearly I’m obsessed so I’ll just say, go and try it for yourself. (Food is more important (to me), but the Riparian gin cocktail, the albariño, and the dolcetto were all on point as well. Can’t wait to return!

Was looking for something tasty to treat myself on a spontaneous road trip.
The quality matches the price...very tasty and well prepared. I went for oysters, beet salad, and seared scallops.

Refreshing, satisfying, delicious and no fuss.

If we lived in PT we’d eat at Finistere every week. It’s that good. The clean, simple, elegant interior is chic and comfortable. The wine list is impressive - clearly selected by an expert - we had white Pinot Noir from Oregon, which was delicious and ahead of the curve (you’ll see!) The foie gras appetizer is simply divine! We also enjoyed the pimento cheese with house made saltines. Kale salad was exceptional as was the salmon and everything else. The service is lovely and our mains were all of the highest quality and taste. Can’t get enough of Finistere. It’s fine dining at it’s best.

Went for happy hour. The food was delicious. You should definitely try the fried oysters. We ordered 2 orders because it was so good.

The waiter was nice enough to let our dogs sit outside with us.

Will definitely visit again in the future.

Stopped by for Happy Hour while visiting Port Townsend--had heard from locals it was "the place" to go. Beautiful bar space, not too big, not tiny. Bartender was great, very easy going vibe to the whole place, not stuffy like upscale dining can sometimes be. Happy hour is from 3-5 but you can have the full menu at the bar starting at 5 PM. I started with oysters, and ended with hamachi crudo--everything was delicious! Wines by the glass are diverse and fun--with the help of the bartender, I opted to try something new and wasn't disappointed (you can ask for a taste first!) The dinner looked amazing, I will definitely go back!

Finistere was a very nice restaurant. I visited on a quiet Sunday morning. The restaurant was quiet as well but would pick up around 11am. The space has been quaintly designed with nice light wood tables and chairs and subway tile where the bar is. The restaurant is bright a cheery during the day and a joy to sit in. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. To start, we had some fresh Shigoku and Disco Hama oysters, the Hama oysters were mellower with less brininess than the Shigoku oysters. For tea, the Finistere blend with rosehips and chamomile was excellent as well. I also had an order of the baguette with butter and olives. The olives are probably the best I’ve had in a while because they weren’t overly salty. For the main course, I had a croque madame with a side arugula salad and crispy roasted red potatoes. The croque madame was delicious and not too rich and cloying. The potatoes were cooked perfectly with no greasiness and a beautiful brown color and crispness. The arugula’s spice and the tartness of the dressing balanced the richness of the croque madame as well. I also tried the smoked salmon tartine with shaved fennel on toast. The smokiness of the salmon with the richness of the tartine was balanced with the bright fennel shavings. Overall, I had a wonderful meal and plan to visit every time I am in Port Townsend.

Lovely spot with great Heaters and great food. Has a reputation for small plates, but I left overly full on lasagna. They make a very good old fashioned as well. On the pricey side, but a wonderful spot for a celebration.

The old fashioned is fantastic with one large cube, and the house bread was delicious.

My fifth time at this amazing restaurant continued to delight. Got the chefs choice tasting menu, and got an incredible variety of dishes (8+ including small plates) for a very reasonable price. This restaurant is top notch, and one of the best in Washington. If you are interested and able to try some high end dining while out on the peninsula, this is best place to do it.

A delightful neighborhood cafe with a hip vibe, outdoor seating, a friendly bartender. We sat at the bar as the dining room was full. I had strawberry gazpacho, which was lovely, and the lemon-artichoke risotto, which was packed with flavor - I would definitely order it again. After a day of shopping & sightseeing in Port Townsend, we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing evening at Finistere!

Amazing dinner with spectacular service. All of the food was truly delicious and we had an excellent time. Definitely a gem of a finer style of restaurant in the area. The patio set up was super cute too and the space heaters kept the area comfortable on our crisp evening dinner

The nicest meal we've had in a while, and not terribly expensive for fine dining. The salmon with potato leek veloute was the nicest piece of Salmon I've ever had. The rest of the meal was also delicious.

Love everything about Finistère. I have been here several times and the food is thoughtfully prepared and seasonal. Service is impeccable but also feels like you're in a friend's house. Everything I've ever ordered has been really good but you should definitely try the croquettes.

A wonderful restaurant. Space is modern and inviting (and, in the days of COVID, appropriately socially distanced). I sat in the bistro, which only has a couple of tables and situated in the separate area where they have their well-stocked bar (was quiet and well attended, but I'd probably suggest the traditional dining area for most).

The menu isn't especially expansive, and the dishes tend to be somewhat more constrained and traditional (for the most part) in today's fusion-intensive environment, but they are executed to culinary perfection.

I had the Hood Canal oysters (amazingly fresh with just a hint of the sea), a slice of Pont Leveque cheese (topped with a wonderful blackberry jam and served with little crisps that, when I asked, was told were made out of 'deep-fried buckwheat crepe), Strawberry Gazpacho (super creative, perfect for a summer evening, blending sweet, savory, crunch and a bit of heat) and their Shrimp Risotto - absolutely killer (mentally transported me to a small seaside cafe in Marseille).

You can tell the chef worked in places like Per Se and Canlis - the flavors all meld together in perfect balance and there is so much thought and culinary love that goes into things like the Risotto, where you can taste that the sauce was made from a reduced homemade stock prepared with fresh fish bones and seafood shells and the melt-in-your mouth shrimp taste less like shrimp and more like lobster.

Service was top-notch. Nice selection of cocktails and wines by the glass, though I'd love to see them carry an Oregon Pinot and, perhaps in a post-COVID world, have a commercial-grade 'Coravin' wine preservation system that would let them offer even higher end wines by the glass.

Prices are super reasonable for what you get. How I wish I lived closer to Port Townsend! What a treasure of a place :-)

This is a casual, somewhat local brasserie. It is an adult venue with excellent food and service. An incredibly diverse menu including great Vegan options. The strawberry gazpacho was incredible as was the dinner plate of delicious side vegetables that were assembled for my enjoyment. Service, atmosphere and selection ~ fantastic

This was honestly one of the best meals I have had in my 70 years of eating out. I had the Dungeness crab Buka teeny, and my husband had fennel pasta sausage. For dessert we had apple pie ice cream. Everything was absolutely delicious and prepared in the best manner. The owner Scott was incredibly nice, and our waitress was professional, and Attended to our every need. We had to sit on the patio because we could barely get a reservation but now that I have it in there I understand why. We were visiting from California and I will definitely go back here again. I can’t recommend this place highly enough .
