Candlewood Suites Norfolk Airport, an IHG Hotel

Lots of good changes since the last time I was here. New manager is very nice and helpful getting things taken care of. Room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Wish there was a breakfast.

Read the reviews and almost didn't stay. We travel quite a bit and and usually stay at high end or lower quality travel hotels (a bed is a bed). Decided to stay here because it was only 3 minutes away from our event.

What a very pleasant surprise! We booked the 1 bedroom kind suite. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars from the room is because both TV's had issues. Phone in room didn't work. Check in was very smooth. Went to front desk and general manager, Freddie Green, immediately came up and fixed the issues.

With the negative reviews I was sure there might be problems but the reality is that anytime I go back to Norfolk I'll make sure to stay here.

Let me be clear... I have a review rating on Google as being in the top 10% reviewers in the country. I have over 15 million photo views. My experience at Candlewood Suites Norfolk Airport was positive all the way around. The entire staff were welcoming.

Close to the airport but not noisy. The room was spotless and had a very comfy bed. Had a nice layout that felt homey. Very friendly service. Will stay here again next time I'm in Norfolk!!

So I have to stay I truly enjoy staying at this hotel. Kyessa, Bree and Lyndsey the other faculty as well as the awesome house keeping staff are truly professional and very hard working. I stay at this hotel frequently and have no complaints at all. Great customer service warm welcome I’m treated like family at all times. I always see the housekeeping staff on their feet upfront ready to take care of all housekeeping requirements the rooms are very clean the laundry room is very efficient the shuttle service I have with my job with the hotel is always coordinated perfectly I really recommend this hotel to a lot of people I wanna really good stay in a good area won’t go wrong

The room was immaculate, The bed was amazing. It was a queen size bed. The bathroom was extremely neat and clean and was supplied with towels and bathrobes. The room came equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and a stove. I didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff, but my husband said they were very nice. I will definitely stay here again. It was such a quiet area and I was on the 4th floor. Loved it.

The room was immaculately clean, the staff was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to help us during our stay. Pet friendly and animal safe as they don't allow cigarette butts to be flicked in their parking lot my husband and I had a wonderful experience here and even set up a rewards account with them which was quick and easy. The front desk customer service rep helped us get our bank to release the hold after check out which saved our skin. Even the hallways were fragrant. From house keeping and maintenance all the way to the manager I had positive interactions with every employee we encountered. It felt like a safe clean environment to have my son in and was easily the best hotel experience I've had in at least 8 years.

I don't understand the negative reviews other than people looking for the Ritz Carlton other than an extended stay hotel.

I chose this place on a whim on Expedia last week when I needed to get a room fast due to my husband's sudden and horrific stage 4 cancer diagnosis, so we needed a place to stay while he transitioned from the hospital to an assisted living facility before I could move him to the cancer center near me. The Navy Lodge was full at both NS Norfolk and JAB Little Creek, so my initial reservation via Expedia was only for 2 nights because I was hoping for a faster turnaround on my end, but that wasn't the case. So I made a new reservation, and we had to switch rooms from a larger one bedroom to a smaller queen studio, but it's only 2 of us, so no big deal. The manager was amazing and let us store our belongings, including bags and coolers of food, behind the front desk, and the housekeeping staff have been incredibly kind as well. I just had to extend again, and they were great about it. This is a high-volume hotel, so you can't expect miracles, but I have come to expect that they will at least do what they can.

They are shorthanded, and it shows. Be a decent human being and exercise compassion and patience and stop complaining about not having exactly what you need immediately while the world is still in a pandemic. Again, this is an extended stay, not a luxury hotel. People come here to stay literally weeks, not a weekend. I overheard a woman complaining there was no ice machine on her floor when she had a perfectly good one in her refrigerator. The kitchen was a massive sell for me because it allowed us to have real food for my husband without having to go out constantly and spend more money, and for folks from his command to help us via Meal Train.

The only complaints I have, and they are so very minor, is that I wish the smaller rooms had some more utensils and dishes. The smaller room we were in had one bowl and one glass, but that's nothing we can't work around. Oh, and the pipes are LOUD. I can hear our neighbors flushing their toilet right by my head as I sleep, but honestly that's a minor inconvenience to deal with while I get to spend time with my husband as we transition into our new normal.

I just want to thank the staff for being as helpful as they could considering everything going on. My husband has port surgery tomorrow, and I wish we could stay another night before I fly home, but it looks like they're full up. I'll recommend this location for anybody who needs to come to Norfolk for a significant period of time.

We stayed for one night. Upon arrival we were greeted. It happen to be the General Manager at the front desk. I didn't know until the next morning. He was friendly and very helpful. As I hauled my kids and luggage upstairs house keeping was working. They were all so sweet, friendly, and helped me. They even told me to leave the luggage cart for them to return and rest. Our room was clean and plenty big. We were close to lots of options for dinner. After dinner we stopped in the hotel pantry. The pantry was full of options. We bought some treats for the evening and items for breakfast so we could get on the road quickly in the morning. We were able to check out fast and on the road. While the bathroom needed some new caulking it was clean and functional. I would definitely stay again. All the staff was wonderful.

The hotel is located near the airport. And The staff was pleasant and made not only check in but my stay, as well as check out quick, pleasant, and also easy. Jasmine in particular was always pleasant during our interactions and always assisted in meeting out accommodations.

Hotel is in a great location. Not far from the beach, botanical garden and the zoo. It’s about 10 minutes from the airport. The staff is SUPER friendly. They greet you and acknowledge you every time you walk through the doors unlike other hotels/extended stays. I stay here every time that I come into town because they make my stay very comfortable. I won’t stay at another hotel/extended stay at this point. The rooms are always very clean and smell great. The amenities are great! They even have a cabinet full of board games that you can use . The Parking lot is well lit and the area is pretty quiet. I would definitely recommend.

So far so great. Our room is spacious. Comes with a stove top, microwave, large refrigerator, coffee machine, dish washer, hair dryer, large desk area, plenty drawer space! Fully stocked kitchen. Front desk was beyond nice. They accommodated everything we asked for.

Absolutely amazing! This is a hotel that certainly delivers on under promise and over deliver.

This is a mediocre budget hotel chain and was reasonable priced to be near the airport.

When I arrived at the airport and called about their shuttle, they said that due to COVID they are not running a shuttle, but instead are sending out an Uber to pickup each guest at the airport. Talk about 5 star service! When I arrived at the counter, they also gave me a link to request an Uber in the morning to go back to the airport.

The bed is really comfortable and the blanket is very soft. Great comfortable recliner in the room and a full kitchen too.

Lastly the lady at the front desk who checked me in and who I spoke to on the phone to arrange the pickup was really sweet and very welcoming.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel!

The hotel staff is extremely friendly and will try to accommodate anything you ask (within reason). The rooms are well for she'd and quite comfortable. The kitchen is a nice addition since I will be staying for 2 months. However, there were some items missing from the kitchen that I needed​ to ask the front desk for that should have been in the room.

Our experience in this hotel was great. Very friendly front desk staff. Room was renovated, clean and smelled great. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. There was no loud hallway noise. The location was very convenient to the highway, stores and restaurants close by. We wwouuld stay again.

Staff members Julia and Alberto made all the difference for our stay! They are highly competent at their jobs. They were friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Problems we had were attended to immediately and fixed. I never saw the manager, but because of staff members, I think management must be very good. This hotel is conveniently located near a variety of restaurants and stores.

I was a little hesitant about the area being a solo female traveler, because when I lived here it wasn't the best, but it was fine and I felt safe. Great stay, no complaints! One of the cleanest IHG Hotels that I've stayed in. The Grounds, Lobby and especially the Room were all clean. A rarity to have all 3 in my IHG History. Not only was the Room updated, it was spotless and well stocked! Friendly and attentive Front Desk and Amazing Housekeeping. I was so please with the cleanliness of the room, that I left a tip and thanked the Housekeeping Manager for the cleanliness. Keep up the good work guys :-)

I'd say I was VERY impressed with the hotel overall. I spoke to a lady on the phone to see about checking in a little earlier she was VERY nice & made it happen so that right there set a tone for the stay. First impression of the room was wow. The room we stayed in had a full kitchen a full bath . Pots , pans , soap to wash dishes a coffee pot . We expected to have 4 guests & guess what - 4 towels , 4 rags . They were very attentive to our needs & making us comfortable. I was a little weary about what the hotel was going to be like in this area but I was not let down. I will say we came from a big ocean front hotel the night before that was almost double the price we paid for this one & on any given day I'd choose a candle wood suite. 5 stars to y'all !! Thank you for a great stay !

If I could give 10 stars I would. Let's just start off by saying I ended up in Virginia by mistake and I was having a really hard time with finding a hotel that would meet all of my needs. When I first searched up Candlewood suites I expected the worst because it's nearby a Airport. I immediately cross them out of my mind but I finally gave in and walked in and immediately the staff was very respectful. The young lady on duty that night was Chelsea. She did an amazing job with meeting all of my needs. I had a hard time finding a hotel who provided an ethernet plug-in for work. Chelsea was very respectful and patient with me.She could tell that I was having a really hard time and I was really frustrated. She had the absolute best customer service and respect that I have ever received at a hotel. Not only did Chelsea do her absolute best but there was a guy by the name of Dawaun and he was the maintenance guy. We didn't have any technical difficulties but he noticed that we were also having a really hard time with maneuvering around so he would often suggest if we needed help he also suggested if we need additional towels or covers anything that we needed he was always there they did an absolutely amazing job.

So far, I've had a great visit. Room is clean and have noted management is replacing all mattress and boxsprings. Additionally seen painters working on my floor. Front desk has been great at check-in. So I'm glad my work selected this hotel. If my experience changes, I will modify.
