Excellent vet! We switched from our old one in Oak Harbor and are really glad we did. They are kind, friendly, attentive, and most importantly, have availability when it’s a last minute or urgent concern. We have always left feeling assured and with a treatment plan. Highly recommend!

Wonderfully welcoming staff, and very knowledgeable vet! Dr. Lark was very helpful in dealing with my darling Freya girl. They don't charge an arm and a leg like some of the vet clinics on the island, either!

No longer our clinic because of relocation but after going to a few other vets I wanted to leave this review. I love this clinic. The doctors and all the staff were always so kind. I never felt rushed but at the same time they were always very quick when it came to things like taking labs. Years ago when I had to put my dog down they gave me all the time I needed with him and were just so sweet throughout the process. It was quick and peaceful. A year ago I had to put my cat of 15 years to sleep. That was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life and even my husband’s because of how it was handled and all I kept thinking is this isn’t how it’s supposed to be because of my experience with Penn Cove. My cat was in kidney failure and it was time. We made an appt and once we got there it took hours. And I don’t know what they sedated him with but it was horrible just watching him stumble around the room with his eyes rolling…

I now have a kitten and have had to take her to the vet (a new one) a few times over the past 4 months and while the staff are nice they are not thorough, they rush their time with you even though they are very slow, and they are expensive for not having any kind of in-house labs. They couldn’t even tell me if my kitten actually has ear mites. They just said it looks like it instead of looking under the microscope.

All that to say Penn Cove is the best.

Very friendly and helpful vet clinic. They remember me and my pets. I am pleased with the amount of time it takes to get an appt and thymes are responsive to calls and correspondence. I trust them with my furbabies.

Always more than professional. The only place I have found that really made my animals feel comfortable. I moved to Longview washington for 2 yrs and still made the drive to bring my pets here.

My dog had surgery here for a torn ACL they were Amazing, very accommodating and caring. We had a wonderful experience.

Dr. Karen has been our Vet since Otis was 7 weeks old. I followed her when she moved her practice to Penn Cove Vet from Oak Harbor because she was so patient with Otis. He could be very difficult. He was not much into cooperating with anyone who dared to examine him but he responded well to Dr Karen’s compassionate ways of handling him. From the start he hated being put on the table terribly so she always treated him on the floor. Over the last almost 16 years of Otis’s life she knew all his fears and accommodated him and us with great care.
Yesterday I brought Otis in for his finale visit. Because of his anxieties she came out to the parking lot to give him a sedative. She explained the whole process in detail and stayed with us all the way through the process of putting my beloved Otis to sleep forever. It was very comforting for myself and my son.
The staff at Penn Cove Vet are exceptional. Dr Lark saw Otis a few times and he too is an exceptional Vet. Very nice and friendly.
We feel blessed to have such a caring place to oversee both of our dog’s health. I thank them all. But mostly, I thank Dr Karen for being a part of our lives for the past 15 plus years.🙏🏼

Penn Cove helped us with my dog by not only treating her but also guiding us as we had to accept and learn to cope with the fact that she had cancer. They helped us give her more time then they thought she had and were available any time she had a physical change that required care. They were so kind and thoughtful as they guided us through the tough process of letting her go. We were fully expecting to get her ashes in a plain plastic bag as we had already purchased a memorial box for them and didn't want an urn. Her ashes were not only given to us in a beautiful satin bag but we also received some of her hair and a beautiful paw print. Thank you Penn Cove and West Coast pet memorial services for your support and compassion.

Despite last minute renovations outside on the business park, I was given an appointment only two days prior. Given the amazing level of service I received, with a Vet who knew their field well; I was surprised they were not backlogged with appointments much further. Thanks!

I can not say enough great things about this clinic!!! From the Vets to the front desk, they are always kind and welcoming. This is our 3rd dane we have brought to them and I always feel like they take the time to hear me out and fully understand xl breed issues/concerns.

Always such fantastic care! I feel like we re always going in for a crazy situation that is semi emergent and they're so great about getting us in whenever they can and are all so sweet and loving towards my pup. So knowledgeable and great about explaining things and truly care about the animals that come through the door.

Best Vet center on Whidbey Island! The assistants are all friendly and knowledgeable and treat your pets like they are their own!! Dr Karen Schmid is a cut above the rest and makes you feel completely comfortable and confident in the treatment of my fur baby!! Wouldn't go anywhere else!!!!

Penn Cove Veterinary Clinic was excellent as always. Dr. Gustafson was kind, gentle, and helpful in my time of need. He treated my sweet Shadow gently and respectfully, even getting us in between appointments in our emergency need. If I ever have another pet, I would chose this clinic for vet care and services. Our dachshund had several teeth removed yesterday and the staff was very caring and informative. The cost of the surgery and everything that was included was very reasonable. A small local veterinary service with extraordinary people! Thank You Penn Cove!

I cannot say enough good things about Penn Cove Vet Clinic. Dr. Gustafson and Dr. Schmid have cared for two of our dogs over the last several years and they are extremely knowledgeable and compassionate. My husband and I are forever grateful.

Penn Cove Veterinary Clinic has got everything down to a science during the covid-19 problems. You call them from your car when you first arrive the doctor calls you back discusses any health problems with your pet, someone comes out and picks up the pets takes them inside for their physical, the doctor calls you back and discusses the results. Then they bring your pets back to you and the receptionist calls you and you pay by phone. You never even have to come in contact with another person except when they pick up and deliver your pets. It all went extremely smooth. Good work Penn Cove Veterinary Clinic.
