Turnipseed Nature Preserve

This is a very peaceful park. I enjoy nature and looking for wildlife and birds. The boulders are fun to climb and I enjoy sitting on them while I’m enjoying the view of the pond. I usually have a picnic at the end of my walk. I love viewing the changes in the landscape through the seasons.

They've only finished half of it but it's beautiful so far. Glad they're doing nature preserves and not just more and more housing developments. And my son loves it!

Very clean trails. Quiet and only saw 1 other family the whole time we walked. Great spot to walk your dog or to get some fresh air there was plenty of shade!

Went here with our 4yo and it was the perfect length for a “short” hike. There are lots of off-shoot trails with little views or an attraction. She especially loved the observation deck.
The trails were well kept and we only saw a few people out on a beautiful Sunday.

Great hidden secret! There is a one mile dirt trail between the two parking lots. There is also a loop trail off of that about midway. There are also short detours along the way to interesting points. The main trail and loop are very well maintained. Lots of birds and other wildlife to experience, but not overly crowded on any of our visits.

Turnipseed Nature Preserve is the newest Wake County park, located in eastern Wake, near Wendell. There are about 3 miles of easy gravel trails and several picnic areas to enjoy this natural area. Great place for a jog or to walk the dog. There is also a nice overlook with views of the wetlands along Gin Branch Creek. It's open daily during the summer and on weekends in the off season.

Beautiful little area for a roadside stop!

The preserve has nature trails that wind through the trees, past boulders, and passes by wildlife viewing station. I really like coming here with the dogs for walk.

Nice place for a hike and to enjoy nature. Trails are easy to navigate.

Great little escape to nature. Clear, nice walking paths (gravel). Quite, free of man made noise, with a bounty of natural sounds.
