It’s refreshing to enter a store that actually has the gear you want/need. Alpenglow had a great selection of products.I chose the things I needed, Rab Khroma Kinetic (the best I’ve had so far), Sea to Summit cookware, and browsed for ideas on my next purchase. If you fool around in the outdoors definitely pay them a visit.

We have climbed with Acadia Mountain Guides before and have always had a great experience. Jess was our guide this year and provided an encouraging and fun time. We felt like we grew as experienced climbers and had a great day. Would highly recommend this group, especially Jess.

You don't find specialty climbing/backpacking stores like this very often! They have an amazing selection of gear and apparel. Knowledgeable staff as well as guides and courses for rock & ice climbing, backcountry skiing, and wilderness first aid certifications. Stop in and support a local climbing shop - what a gem.

Just wanted to say the customer service I received from this company was stellar. I want to say the gentleman’s name was Will, but I could be mistaken and I apologize for not remembering clearly. Anyways, I wanted to order an item that I found on their site, and living on the other side of the country I asked if they could verify it was the product I indeed wanted. I’ve been looking for this particular product for some time and had to make sure it was the exact match as its now discontinued. They went above and beyond helping me to identify the product by calling their other location that had it physically on a rack, and got images to verify and make sure it was what I wanted. The item arrived today and I could not be happier. Thank you so much!!! Small things like good customer service really go a long way.

I just started going after they moved from their orono location. Clean store, knowledgeable staff, competitive pricing, and good discount for students and rewards program. They are not always stocked with all the gear, but I suppose that is good for them that they are selling well. I make sure to come and check if they have the item I want in stock, usually they do.

I have a wonderful experience EVERYTIME I go in! Amanda has been a HUGE help getting our 1st trek, for people impacted by cancer, outfitted in gear.

Great customer service. Luckily I found Alpenglow online.
I called them they were very friendly on the phone. And then when I got there again they were very helpful. Only place in Bangor that sells solomans and Trail Runners.

A great alternative to the big internet retailers, especially if you are from the north east. I recommend them to my climber friends because they always have good deals to look for.

Now that I live in Mass I don't shop here nearly as often as I used to.

But I love it. They always have such a great selection for a small locally owned store and you can find stuff here you'd never find at any other outdoor retailers in the area. Technical climbing gear, hiking and winter hiking gear, ice climbing/mountaineering equipment, everything you could need for some variation of outdoor activity they seem to have something to benefit.

This store is awesome and the actual shop is almost always quiet. Pop in, buy some climbing shoes, and then go rock climb.

Ordered two shirts from them and had them mailed to Alaska, accidentally ordered the wrong size but caught it (after I paid). Had to call them to fix, everything was righted lady on phone was really nice. Arrived in under a week (fast for up here). Would definitely buy from them again!

This might just be my favorite store in the world. The store is small but packed full of stuff, which gives it a very homey and welcoming atmosphere. Yes, it's quite expensive, but that's not to say things aren't reasonably priced for their quality, which is universally outstanding. I'm definitely biased as a climbing and mountaineering fan but I love coming in here just to look at all the equipment as well as to buy the things I need. UMaine students get something like 10% off, which is very nice.

I ordered a pair of ski bindings from these folks. Great sale price, arrived just as described. Excellent customer service. They went above and beyond to help me get them on time for a ski trip - thank you!

The new building is very nice, the people are always friendly and it seems like you can always find stuff on sale. Definitely worth stopping by if you get the chance

I drove 2 hours to spend 15 minutes in this shop and it was worth every second!

The place is about as big as my bathroom but has every climbing product I've ever heard of. All hanging there ready to be touched and fondled and drooled over. No "oh we'd have to order that" about it.

They had several pairs of shoes for me to try on (even in a size 13) and plenty of advice. While I didn't purchase a pair, they offered to hold the set I wanted with no deposit to ship later.

Luke was friendly and knowledgeable and did not appear even remotely affected when it seemed that I may still be in the store after closing time. Gave me a great deal on some cordelette spool ends, too!

If they were closer I'd be in there every day.

This is my second time ordering from Alpenglow with excellent results both times. Great prices and my orders shipped quickly!

Placed my order Friday afternoon and my package was waiting for me when I got home from work on Monday. Fast shipping and everything arrived just as it should. I'll definitely be ordering from them again.

If you're looking for climbing gear, backpacks, sleeping pads, and more- this small local shop will have all your needs. Often hold sales and able to receive certain discounts through a college ID.

Awesome place to explore for quality gear. Staff is nice and the inventory is vast, definitely worth the browse. Good deals to be found for sure.
