We Love Algonac State Park. We love freighter watching. Really hoping that the roads will be paved with the upcoming planned construction.
We use the archery range. My husband uses the pistol range. We take the path into town. Love having things to do while we camp.

Great views of river and boat traffic.
Goes without saying but best views are sites closest to river. Even on hot days breeze from river keeps you comfortable. In June, pesky winged bugs but their tolerable and don't bite.

Spacious sites. Love being along the St. Clair River and watching big ships go by.

Algonac State Park is always a good camping experience. We stay in the wagon wheel, which is cozy, with tree and brush surrounds on most sites. The front sites have fewer trees but include a view of the water. We ride our bikes across to the park and watch the boats from there.

Great park for picnics with an excellent view of the river and freighters!

Great place to fish, camp, throw an outdoor get together, BBQ. Amatuer/Pro photographers paradise. Or just come to just take in the majesty of the St Clair River and her well traveled great lakes shipping freighters. HET YOUR BOAT THERAPY HERE.

Love coming here and spending time with my family. Never have had a bad experience coming here in the 10 years I have been. All the employees are super friendly and nice. The whole park is very clean and very well maintained all year round. This is an amazing place to come on a vacation or even just to get a little get away for a day or so. Love this place so much!!! We come here for 4th of July along with Halloween decorating. My whole family and I enjoy it.

We grabbed a last minute riverfront campsite by setting up alerts on the state park reservation site. Riverfront signs were great for watching the freighters move up and down the river and my kids enjoyed learning about the boats with a MarineTraffic app. Campground had a couple of good hiking trails, the bridge to bay paved trail and archery & shooting range.

This is a great campground. Not a lot for kids to do. There is a playground with some swings and slides. There is a gaga ball pit next to the cornhole. There is an archery range, clay pigeon shooting, and a hand gun range. There is also a bike path that will take you into Algonac. A little beyond the end of the path is a nice playground.

There are two sets of camping areas. One is out front by the water which is pretty open. There are a few trees for shade. The one in the woods is called the wagon wheel. It is nice with lots of woods around. They both are full of mosquitoes around dusk until roughly an hour later during the summer. The water side had nice breezes during the summer while the wagon wheel really doesn't have much of a breeze. If you go in the cooler months, the wagon wheel is better because of the lack of breeze.

My absolute favorite State Park in Michigan! A campsite on the water is a must. Perfect ship-watching location. Park is very well maintained. Nice running trail goes right through the park.

Great place to sit and watch Great Lakes Freighters! Excellent pistol range, too.

Roads are a bit worn down in the campground areas but hopefully will get some funding to repair.

I love this park. It's close to home and yet it feels like you are miles and miles away with the freighters on the river from destinations all over the world.

Oak Savanna trail was easy to follow and was just gorgeous. Highly recommend. However when I went there were a few muddy zones, and patches of water. Even ended up having a dear tic crawling on me afterwards! Definitely use protective spray! I went mid-day. Still worth it.

Camping in the wintertime is great. Its peaceful and no one is around. Theres usually 4 others campers spread out around ther park. You can only camp in the front if park in Winter. There are tons of trails to take walks on. Nearby small towns with great food. My husband and I are actually building a house nearby. This stay has been very nice. There also a gun range on site so the weekends can get a bit noisy but it's not bad. You can dump out in winter time. There is one water source available up by DNR office. There is electricity at camp site. And its twenty dollars a day to camp.

I went to visit family staying at the campground, but would consider camping there myself! It's very clean and well maintained. The staff was polite and helpful, especially since the weekend of my visit had a large crowd staying at the grounds. The state park is near water as well so a pretty view is offered as well (:

We love this park and been camping here for many years ! The only down fall is the shooting range! Our pets are terrified of all the noise , lil ones can’t nap because of how loud this is ! We are searching for some where quieter sadly .

Came here at the request of my wife and kids, but it is not for me. If you want to see some giant ships and lots of cars driving along the back stretch it's perfect. For my personal tastes it's not what I expect of a camp. The boats are cool and it's super clean.

A busy campground, but quiet. Shady grassy sites with electric hook-up, campfire ring and wood on site for purchase. Fun to watch the freighters moving along the river. Clean restrooms & showers. Close to town and local sites. Be sure to check out Harsens Island for an enjoyable day tour by car or bike!
