Hillside Cemetery

This experience was unforgivable.
When we first arrived at the part of the cemetery where the gravesite was located, the area looked like an unkempt soccer field with a few head stones and a grave in the middle of it. It was an uncultivated, afterthought of an area. Nothing peaceful or beautiful about it.
The burial was supposed to be begin at 2:30pm. However, the hearse did not arrive until about 2:45pm. The cemetery employees were so determined to get off shift at 3pm that when the car arrived they rushed to get the casket out of the car and onto the lift of the grave. They immediately lowered the casket and started the tractor to cover it. Someone had to yell at him to turn the machine off so a prayer could be said. The Iman said a quick prayer and the person started the bulldozer again. Again, we had to yell at him to turn it off so people could say their own prayers and possibly put dirt on the grave with a shovel as some traditions do. Once that was complete, the guy started the tractor again and pushed the dirt over the grave stating they’ll “pat it all down and make it look nice on Monday”. Unfortunately, I have been to many burials and have never had the bulldozer sitting next to the gravesite and then cover the casket with dirt while everyone is standing beside it. It was disrespectful and rude!
The most offensive and disrespectful part of the whole experience was that as the father was grieving for his son, the cemetery person had him writing out a check for the burial cost! Unforgivable!!
I have never experienced such a horrible burial to an already tragic circumstance. It was disgusting and so unsettling. I’m still upset about it and it’s 2 weeks later. A burial is supposed to be a peaceful goodbye to a loved one. Thanks to your obnoxious and disrespectful employees, it was anything but!
I think that poor family get their money back for this completely atrocious and inexcusable experience. I wish it were possible for a “re-do”, but that would never erase the bad, unsettling feelings from our hearts and minds.
