TMH Physician Partners - Urology

Dr. Carpio did an excellent job getting a huge kidney stone that had lodged it's self in my kidney. Took 3 surgeries but he hung in there and never gave up. He was determined to get it and to make sure my kidney wasn't damaged and working well. He's a very kind and mild-mannered man and I highly recommend him as a doctor.

Dr. Farrell is an excellent doctor, listening carefully to his patients and providing outstanding care. The practice is well-run, organized, and staffed with caring and helpful people. I can't say enough positive things about my experiences with TMH Urology.

I'm disabled and don't drive.
I forget my yesterdays and everything else because of memory loss.

But I want to thank Brandi for an exceptional behavior. She is the most excellent medical professional I've dealt with to date.

I Called the dr office and he allowed me to come in immediately. I was in extreme pain and I was so very thankful. Was able to set up a procedure that day. I would highly recommend Dr Caprio.

My PSA was extremely high and I went to three other urologists before finding Dr. Yowell. The others may be quite technically competent. I can't judge that. But they seemed offended by my questions... like to ask them was somehow an affront to them. Their platitudes to just trust them were not reassuring. In fact they drove me away.

Dr. Yowell is not like that at all.

Dr. Yowell will explain in as much detail as you want and is not offended by your questions. He seems to have an exceptionally good relationship with his staff and it strikes me as very egalitarian work environment. Everyone in the office is very proactive, calling me with important test results and working diligently to provide the best care possible.

I'm sorry another reviewer was unable to see the doctor in a timely manner. It sounds like he contacted the office directly, whereas specialists like Dr. Yowell typically work almost exclusively from referrals from primary care physicians. I found Dr. Yowell online as the other reviewer did, and then asked my primary care doctor to refer me to him. I was seen within a couple of weeks.

Dr. Yowell is in private practice as a member of Tallahassee Memorial's Physician Partners.

Finding him may have saved my life.

UPDATE - 4 months later
Dr. Yowell convinced me that surgery was unlikely to be successful due to the advanced stage of my cancer and referred me to Dr. Raj Bendre, Radiation Oncologist at Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center. After 44 treatments, I can report that my PSA is down to 0.4 from a high of 22.0.

Dr. Yowell has saved my life!

Staff and nursing staff were very friendly. Dr. Y was very informative and very easy to talk with.

I was one of Dr. Yowell's very first patients. He is a good listener and offers sound advice.

Everyone is so friendly and helpful! Dr. Carpio and his staff are included in that statement!

Saved my life!

Dr. Carpio is the worst. I came to him to determine the root cause of excruciating pain. He ordered an emergency CT scan, I never heard back from him until I continually followed up. Bedside manner is in the toilet.

RUN from this place and Doctor Yowell. He has no idea about cause and effect of the procedures that he performs on unsuspecting trusting patients. I am 4 months out from a simple ( "piece of cake") procedure and am still having many problems. I spent the first 3 months in TMH ER or the doctor's office so sick i could hardly lift my head. I have started seeing a better urologist at UF Shands Urology to try and get some relief from the pain and frustration. No one explains anything to you about the side effects which are terrible. I was not even told I would be catherized until I was entering the operating room. He dances around like he has a nervous disorder all the while telling you your bladder is his bladder??!! OMG1 I had to warn everybody.
Update: 7/5/2019
Still having so many issues caused by injections and surgery given by this doctor. I found out i really did not need the surgery or the injections. It has just about ruined my life. The initial problem i went to him for (chronic UTIs) was never addressed or fixed. I am in constant pain. Cannot sit down without pain. Constant urge to urinate but cannot. One infection after another. I used to be really active going to gym and riding motorcycles. I had to stop doing any of that because of the discomfort and sickness. If i can save one other person from having to go thru something like this.........................

Carpio forgot to put in referrals took all week to get a response... still no help or referrals

If you want to be mis diagnosed, then told you may have cancer, then get completely ignored, this is your place. Disgusting
