What a great place. Love the atmosphere and the tables design. Nice open spaces and friendly staff.

The pulled pork barbecue was delicious nice low hickory flavor the sauces - all three - there’s a spicy vinaigrette as a tomato base and Carolina mustard - all three delicious. The brisket was cooked perfect, had a nice pull.

The collar greens were my favorite. Tried the slaw beans and Mac and cheese too. All were really good. I’m picky about my slaw and there’s was good. The Brunswick stew was tomato based and fantastic!

The baked potato salad was more like potato’s gratin. Very cheesy but very delicious but NOT the potato salad you’d expect.

Right off of Marietta Square recommend if you’re in a barbecue mood.

Delicious smoked BBQ and big portions too! The mustard based bbq sauce was amazing especially with pork. Loved the flavor on the sweet tea collards and the roasted brussel sprouts. Wait staff was very kind and attentive.

I could not have picked a better place to eat and they could not have shown me any more warm southern hospitality than they did. The food was fabulous and priced very reasonably. I had a pulled pork sandwich with baked potato salad for a side. Both were amazing...I could have eaten a tub of that salad! Owner, Buddy, was very warm and friendly...even brought me a shot when he heard about a horrible experience I had checking into my hotel the night before. I would HIGHLY recommend checking this place out! Live music on Sundays made the experience even better. Buddy, you and your staff are top notch!!

I was a little sceptical about eating here having some outrageous themes, but I enjoyed it very much. The restaurant looks quite unique. It is a lot to take in but it is set up nicely. The food was great as well. The pork rinds and queso was a great combo and were delivered crackling. I also had the big o bonfire, which was quite strong and was essentially a Hot Tamale in drink form. My main meal had pulled pork, smoked turkey (I never see turkey at barbecue places), mac and cheese, and sweet tea collard greens. The meats were very good and their sauces tasted great with them. The Brunswick stew was amazingly good, but I was a little disappointed in the collards. Original, but nothing to make me want to order the collards again. It has a nice variety and even vegetarian options making it a well excepted refresher in barbecue restaurants.

Excellent service and brisket! I stopped by and picked up an order to go and unfortunately I picked a busy day and they were out of several sides and the pulled pork. I'll make sure to stop by earlier next time. They have a nice shaded outdoor area to sit at too.

We happened upon Hawg and Ale Saturday night and had a blast with the band/live music(Jukebox Revival). The food was great and our waitress Destin was amazing! We will be back!

Tasty food with live music. The band on Thursday is really good! The food and service were great. Open, garage doors for good air flow. The Mac and cheese was amazing! So were the brussel sprout. Nice smoked chicken. I would definitely be back.

Not pictured below is the Brisket Patty Melt (sauced generously with the Carolina gold sauce and a healthy splash of Tobasco). I have a very high bar for brisket and have been disappointed many times. I tell you this to qualify my following statement: this is easily the best brisket/brisket sandwich I have ever had. The cheese and onions are delectable toppings and the sauce pairings do wonders, but it starts with the brisket itself. Shredded for this sandwich, it pairs a perfectly juicy, tender meat with a savory, crunchy charred outside. There is not a way to properly give this sandwich the respect it deserved, so try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Thank the heavens a great bbq place opened near our home!!

First off Marietta square is a great location with tons of unique shops and eateries that make it a perfect place to walk around and shop. This place is fairly new and wasn't too crowded when we arrived. We had outdoor seating as we were a rather numerous party. Our waitress came several times to check on us and was very efficient.

The food was excellent. Many places cannot do brisket justice but Hawg and Ale knocked it out of the park. I ordered the square sandwich. And I will again.

To sum it up the service and food were flat out amazing. Highly recommend!

Very enjoyable experience. Felt very homey in the best way possible. Good service and great food, especially the pulled pork tots. Would definitely come here again.

When the weather is nice and the front is opened up to the outside, hawg and ale is tough to beat as a great place to hang out. Sometimes the wait for food is excessive, but if you are able to hunker down and have some drinks then it’s worth the wait. The Brussels sprouts are exceptional, and the ribs are fantastic.

Very good! Our waitress, Harley, was very pleasant and friendly (give her a raise!), and the food was great! Best smokehouse I've had in the area so far.

Loved the food and had a great time with my family. Music was nice too. If you get the chance I did enjoy the "Hot Mess" Mac and cheese. Staff was lovely and our waitress was so bubbly she kept me smiling. It was worth the unfortunate person I encountered before going in.

Let me explain I had a little problem with a racist prior to entering the establishment however he gave off alot of LD energy. Calling me a FBB as I walked by him and his two friends who also sat outside. That miniature "man child" with a odly shaped receding hairline had the gal to speak this mess despite going silent after seeing I was not alone. What a weakling (photo provided). If you see this "thing" beware.

Great BBQ! The square needed a place like this. Very tender pulled pork, great bark on outside. Waffle fries and Brunswick stew are excellent.

My husband and I were on our way to see about my mother in rehab in Marietta and decided we wanted to do something different. We saw this restaurant on our way home the other day and decided we would go eat there. To say the least it was the most scrumptious food we had ever eaten!!!! Not only was their food AMAZING but EVERYONE not just the lady who waited on us were all exceptionally polite and very helpful in deciding what to order. They bad live music which was awesome as we sat outside on their curb side patio and ate. They had their doors rolled up so we got the outside night breeze and were able to watch all that was going on outside. We could have never been more pleased. Their food is reasonably priced and their drinks were AWESOME!! IF I could rate this place more stars I would because they certainly deserve it. We WILL be returning and telling everyone we know about this place. You can't go wrong going there to eat. Lastly I must add that their baked potato salad and the Hot Mess was off the chart!!!!! I even brought left overs home because their portions are big so you don't have to worry about not getting enough to eat. This is a WIN WIN Restaurant!!! Oh and the BBQ Sauces are out of this world!!!

Hawg and Ale was a nice surprise, tucked away just off the square on Powder Springs St. The brisket, in a sliced style, was very good along with the grilled Brussels sprouts and baked beans. Paired with some tea and a friend made for a nice treat.

First time here for this review. Brisket melt and potato salad was amazing. My bartender and waitress was great. I could ask for nothing more. I will be back for more very soon.

Despite the crowd (ate there during the 4th of July celebration) the service was great, the food came out fast, and the food was amazing

First slice of brisket was 'too fatty' (something I'd never complain about anyway) and the waitress brought out two more slices without me ever saying a word
