We had a really nice meal and the waitress was so friendly.
I had the chopped steak meal with mushroom gravy, potatoes and corn. My wife had the mushroom Swiss burger and coke slaw. My meal was very good and plentiful. My wife’s burger was so big, she had to hold it with two hands and it was hard to take a bite! The coleslaw was very tasty ( I finished it for her). I looked at the salad bar and it looked fantastic. I wish I would have gotten their chili! It really looked good!
With the flooring, I almost think it might have possibly been an actual station at one time.
I would recommend this place any time you come through the area. It will be marked as one of my favorites.
Did I mention the prices were reasonable?

Very family oriented. The food is awesome, and their wings go untouched in this area. If you are looking for a cost-effective place to eat you won't be disappointed.

We love to come here to Boxcar Grille. They have great food and it's a great atmosphere as well. I recommend this restaurant if you're in the area and looking for a place to eat. They also cater for big events like weddings, work luncheons, family reunions, etc. This is just plain ole homemade food like your grandma used to make.

We just found this place tonight and it did not disappoint! We have fried mushrooms, salad bar, grilled chicken sandwich, and steak tips. All the food was fabulous but the fried mushroom appetizer was the best I've ever had and the biggest! Totally worth it. The salad bar was definitely one of the better ones I've seen in a long time, especially now that they're nearly a thing of the past. The decor was really cool and the staff was super friendly. We will be bringing the whole family back very soon.

My husband has used this place to cater, and they have ALWAYS been phenomenal! The food is absolutely delicious and the staff are so very good at what they do! I am definitely going back! I loved actually getting to eat at their restaurant! Very cool atmosphere!

I recommend the Jesse James burger, Peninsula pasta, salad bar, and blue ridge rooster.

Boxcar is a staple in our family! Many birthdays and special occasions shared here! Excellent southern comfort food for a very fair price. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff is beyond great and friendly! If you like salad bars, this place has a great one! Always fresh and clean, not a huge selection on the bar but what they do have is fantastic! I do recommend going early for dinner as there will be a wait! Easy to get to from the interstate! They also do wonderful catering if you want the same great food at your event or occasion! I've tried them and they have done an excellent job!

First time, we stopped in for lunch while we were in the area. Google maps suggested area restaurant. Very happy we stopped in as the food was very good and the staff was helpful and attentive. Will definitely stop again if we're in the area.

A kitchy train station theme diner with excellent service. A favorite is beef tips with sauteed peppers and onion. Sliders on toasted buns taste good but the beef was just cut-up regular patties. I try to hit this place for lunch when traveling through the area. Reasonable prices and good for families.

The salad bar is nice; 🥬 fully stocked with veggies, fruit, and dressings. 🥦 🥕 🍓 sirloin tips and steaks 🥩 are made as they are ordered and cooked to perfection. 🍗 The chicken is delicious. Shrimp 🍤 is well cooked and seasoned well. 🧂 drinks are refilled promptly 🧋and as ordered. Highly recommend this for a lunch or dinner stop. 🍽 located in Claremont, NC.

I love Boxcar's salad bar! They have a wide variety of offerings and I really love their chicken salad. For $12.00 I got a 5 oz sirloin cooked just right, rice pilaf and a trip to the salad bar. Their drinks are a little pricey but still affordable.

I am an absolute fool for a salad bar. This salad bar was packed with fresh crisp and delicious items. They had housemaid ranch dressing which I'm sure many North Carolina's absolutely appreciate. Ranch from a premade source using soy is not tasty at all ,so thank you for making the ranch properly. They had two types of white dinner rolls you could get which were baked or deep fried. There was an extra delicious apple ambrosia salad that I will be back 4 and have been craving since my visit. This was my first visit ever to box car and everyone I do mean everyone who worked there but smiling and polite it is conveniently located right off the highway with ample parking.

Box Car Grille was great in every way! The food was amazing! I personally loved the Loni D’s chicken sandwich. I would very much recommend going there.

are great and the salad bar is always fresh and clean . They also require customers to wear gloves at the salad bar.

We decided to have lunch at the Claremont boxcar. We hadnt been to this one in years. Great service, no waiting, awesome experience in this day and time. By the way, i ordered the bacon burger, loaded with bacon.
