Christian Science Reading Room

I dropped in one wintry day before Christmas. The room was decorated for Christmas, and the atmosphere was warm, appealing, and welcoming. Debby was friendly, available, frank, and accessible. I sort of felt like she was an old friend from my childhood. We discussed spiritual things in general, and through the conversation I gained insights into Christian Science thinking I wouldn't have just from reading the materials, although she gave generously of those. I enjoyed the experience and plan to drop by again.

The Christian Science Reading Room is a wonderful resource where you can learn, read and purchase materials about Christian Science (not to be confused with Scientology) from the Christian Science Publishing Society. The CS Monitor, CS Sentinel, CS Journal, CS hymnal, weekly Bible lesson, and pamphlets are just some examples. There are also Bibles and spiritual music CDs, and copies of the Christian Science Textbook "Science and Health" (all of which can be seen online at ChristianScience.com). While the Reading Room is an important resource for church members, it's open to everyone in the community; sometimes we just need a safe quiet space to pray or read scripture during the day, and all are welcome. Anyone interested in learning about the spiritual practices of Christian Science can talk to the volunteer attendant on duty, but visitors aren't bombarded with proselytizing or anything. I recommend the Reading Room as a great place for spiritual materials and music.

Never set foot in the place but for at least 50yrs I've never seen anyone inside go in or come out. My mother worked near it for many yrs same story . It's been there as long as I can remember. Open sign on door . Not a popular spot.
