Always excellent service and they make you feel welcomed. I ordered the Taverna Salad with the addition of lamb as an online order. I did not get the lamb with my order. I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt as they are usually great. Food was still delicious and ready when promised.

This is the Best Greek Food I’ve ever had! Over the years I realize that I’ve eaten in Greek restaurants in Atlanta, Charlotte, New Jersey and New York and all of them were special but to find The High Country Greek within a mile of our Airbnb in Boone was a wonderful discovery. I would advise people to use Google Maps because there are no flashing signs to mark the spot. To the contrary there is just one small blue yard sign at the entrance to the Deer Valley Athletic Club. We got the sampler platter and loved everything on it. We also got the Baklava which was So Good we tried to get more before leaving but sadly, for us, they are closed on Sunday. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcomed and we will always come back when ever we visit Boone, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk.

The only negative thing I have to say about my experience is that I waited too long to try them out. I will definitely be back many times in the future. Everything was fantastic. The lamb gyro was delicious, fries were fresh crispy and perfectly seasoned, the staff was friendly, and the portions are ample especially for the price. I can't wait to try the baklava, I was so full I had to bring it home with me. Looks too good to pass up though. This place is the true definition of a hidden gem.

We love the atmosphere here. It is a family owned and operated real Greek food restaurant and they serve you plenty of delicious food.
This is our second time eating here and we’ve had the spanokopita gyro, the lamb gyro, the hummus and pita appetizer, falafel a la carte, and the sampler platter. The baklava servings are huge and the spice cake servings are huge also.
All food is fresh made by the owners.
Come try this place. You will not regret it !!

Excellent food. The owners takes pride in their food. Everything was delicious and fresh. BUT the Baklava. I have eaten in Greek restaurants all over and this was the best baklava I have ever eaten. It is a bit tricky to navigate to this restaurant.

I absolutely love Greek gyros especially since my trip to Greece.
I have tried a few restaurants in North Carolina and have been disappointed.
Well that was not the case at High Country Greek.
The gyro was fantastic the fries were delicious and the atmosphere was great.
I highly recommend going there. I know I will be going back

I'm looking forward to another visit soon! Maybe even just for the baklava!

I just got home after eating dinner at "High Country Greek" on a lark... and glad I did! I selected the souvlaki (which comes with a greek salad) for an entree, and was surprised to be asked for what soup (also included) that I wanted. I asked for the Greek chicken soup, but unfortunately was informed that that item had sold out (harumphhh!) - so "settled" for the freshly made tomato-basil soup that came with pita - it was delicious! Nice thickness with an overtone of fresh herbs - though I will likely still try the chicken soup next time...

For an entree, souvlaki - it was well spiced and tasty and was nicely paired with the lemon-based Greek salad. The portions were perfect for me (not at all a light eater) and, just barely, left room for a dessert - I chose the baklava.

I asked one of the waitresses (at least one of whom is the daughter of the woman who apparently made the baklava) if I could get a glass of dessert wine to go with the baklava, and alas!, the dessert wine was only available by the bottle (I'd have bought a glass) - so, of course, I went for it. Their red dessert wine, Mavrodaphne of Patras" paired beautifully with the deliciously sweet and "juicy" baklava - which came in a portion size that required that I obtain a take-home box - the photo is what I wasn't able to stuff down at this sitting.

Well, the upshot of all this is this - the absolute best under-$20 meal (not including the pre-dinner stout and dessert wine - $30 for the glass I drank and 4 or 5 that I took home) I've had in a very long time. I'll be heading back very, very soon.

This place was so awesome. Food was great and they serve a decent sized portion. It's located inside of a community health club but once you find it, it's totally worth it. The young lady that runs it mentioned they have another location in boone.

We were very lucky to happen upon this Greek restaurant while we were in Boone for vacation. The food was top-notch - hands down the best Greek we've ever had. Every dish was amazing and I would highly recommend the sampler platter and the baklava. The owner took the time to talk to us and he was awesome as well. We'll definitely be back next time we are in Boone!

the food was awesome!! we enjoyed every minute of it, i got a lamb gyro, my mom got the spanakopita and greek meatball gyro, it was a misprint on the menu but of my gosh was it good, we recommend getting both in it. my brother got the greek lasagna he said it was totally worth it. we each wanted the greek fries but didn’t want the shareable, the server was nice enough to put tzatiki and feta on it, she was great.
