Over Yonder Restaurant

This is an outstanding restaurant.

The food is terrific. All made on premise... The chicken fried chicken was the best I've ever had. Big serving for a big guy like me. Not greasy but very tender and moist.
The crispy crust was perfect.

Wifey enjoyed trout. Said it was tasty.

We ordered sourdough bread for an appetizer and it was also great!

We ordered a couple adult beverages

All of this was really affordable. Unusual for a vacation spot but I'm guessing a lot of locals go here soon they're not charging super high prices

The staff were all so considerate and attentive.

I give this place two giant thumbs up.

Highlight of my stay in the area outside of the sheer beauty.
It even snowed on us in late February.

What a gem! I am glad we took a little detour to have lunch here - despite being in the middle of August, the weather was perfect for a little porch sitting with a glass of tea. Such a wonderful place to slow down and enjoy lunch with a loved one. If I lived closer, I'd come here often!

The food was fantastic and the service staff was incredibly knowledgeable and courteous. We had a phenomenal meal and weren't expecting this level of quality during our short trip to the area. Don't miss out on this incredible spot!

My husband and I ate here because the staff at Mass General Store recommended them and they were right across the street. WOW! We had no idea! The food was amazingly well prepared and the flavors were rich and satisfying.

The staff was kind and welcoming and the restaurant had a cozy atmosphere. It was easy to settle in and enjoy the experience.

I had the meatloaf and it was a complete comfort food experience! My husband had gumbo and said it was as good as what he had in New Orleans!!! We had a great experience start to finish!

This restaurant had charm! From the minute you walk in, you know this is special! We had chicken fried chicken with collard greens, slaw, butter beans and sweet potatoes. It was thoroughly delicious. Our wait staff was super helpful! We had a wonderful evening!

EXCELLENT!! So good, I visited twice during my short stay in Boone. I ordered off the specials menu... the Plants & Roots with trout added on, butter beans, wild yeast sourdough with sage butter, crispy okra and Pig Pickin' cake for dessert!

I SAVORED EVERY BITE!!! 😍 So filling, and the cake was HEAVENLY. So moist, light, fluffy, flavorful and delicious without being too sweet. The only item I wasn't thrilled with was the trout, but everything else more than made up for it.

Not a lot of fully vegan items currently listed on the menu. However, the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating! Many items are easily made vegan!

Oh my! How is it that we’ve never been here before? Wanted a light lunch and we were going to Mast so we stopped in because Over Yonder is across the street. It was a gorgeous day to sit on the porch of this lovely historic home. My husband got a wonderful broccoli and mushroom soup and I loved my veggie plate. Made me want to come right back and sample everything. Check out the view of the lovely mountains from the porch.

They had a few vegan options, including a delicious mushroom burger and spicy chili. The fresh, chunky applesauce had a pinch of sugar.

What a wonderful find for dinner. This restaurant is across from the original Mast General Store in Valle Crucis. It is located in an old home an had lots of charm. Cecilia was our waitress and did an excellent job (as well as the whole team). We started with the okra which was unique and delicious, had the soup special, sourdough bread, and split the chicken fried chicken which was great. Of all the restaurants, we found the Tea (sweet or unsweetened)to be the best we ever experienced. Had lots of meals on our mountain visit but this may have been our favorite. Highly recommend Over Yonder!!

Everything was absolutely fantastic! The flavors were unique and the seasoning was 100 percent spot on across every course. The service was also great! The prices seem pretty low based on how great the quality is. We couldn't have been happier!

We were in town for the weekend and Over Yonder was recommended to us. So good we came back a second night for dinner!! Okra, meat loaf, chicken friend chicken, gumbo all SO good! Great service! We will be back!

Great place in the area for some comfort food. I didn’t get to learn much about the building, but it is definitely some sort of old house the way it’s designed. The front porch and the floors are very much “antique” adding an extra charm. The staff is extraordinarily helpful and nice and the food was pretty good. Really enjoyed my dining experience.

We accidentally discovered Over Yonder as we were turning around while visiting the Original Mast General Store right across the street. What an awesome experience! The location, ambiance, food and service was absolutely amazing. Our dining experience was outdoors on their beautiful front porch and our Server, Nathan was very personable and accommodating. My husband and I do not eat a whole lot so, we shared the Ramblin’ Poppy Burger from the Lunch Menu, which was the best tasting ground venison we’ve ever had. It also came with a large portion of the Sensation Salad. Compliments to the Chef as well for the beautiful presentation. If you are in the area and wish to experience a fine dining atmosphere at affordable prices, this place will not disappoint. We look forward to coming back again during our 2 month stay while in Boone.

Our group had an early reservation for dinner and we were sat promptly on time. Our appetizers (okra and the chips) came out very fast and they were fantastic. I ordered the meatloaf and the rest of our party got the fried chicken. Each were great! The food came out fast, it was hot, and perfectly prepared. We got dessert to go- the chocolate chess pie was very good, but the peach cobbler was outstanding. If you are in the area, I'd recommend coming to Over Yonder as you won't be disappointed.

I had the pork belly and my husband had the trout and both were phenomenal. Our kids had the kids sloppy joes and it was the most they have enjoyed a meal out in a long time. This place is really neat inside and they go out of their way to be kid friendly. We can’t wait to keep coming back.

My fiancé and I agreed this was one of the best meals we’ve had in awhile. We got the Pork Burger with mashed potatoes and the Dipped Fried Chicken with the rosemary chips. We shared and it was absolutely delicious, everything on the sandwiches complimented each other so well. Would recommend to anyone in the area!

Wonderful place with great food, service and location. Definitely a must visit. The food is amazing, perfectly prepared.

Tbh we almost skipped this place -- judgementally, OK -- because it's right across the street from Mast Store. We thought it might just be one of those tempting tourist traps. NOT SO. It's been years since we found a place out traveling so good that we made reservations to come back on the spot. With a Johnson & Wales-trained chef and a staff of enchanting folks running the show, do not sleep on this place. Shout out to Justin and Marissa for making both our visits this week wonderful.
Cocktails are fun and refreshing, the food is amazing -- see the local mushroom stroganoff pictured -- and the vibe is chill and country fresh. Try the quiche or trout dip, too. ❤

This was a last minute choice that turned out fantastic! We had great service and fantastic food! The Chess Pie is to die for!!
