Mast General Store Annex

Ohhhh this place has everything! One of the coolest stores ever! Great “back in time” vibes and so much to look at! Candy, clothing, camping gear, dog supplies, shoes - almost anything you need, it’s probably here. A lot to see so give yourself plenty of time!

The Original Mast General Store is a step back in time when quality and service were the standard.

We absolutely love this place! Staff is always pleasant, kind and helpful. Lots of candy and toys for the kids. They have good clothing brands for adults. Lots of pocket knives and shoes. Must visit spot. We Go every time we’re in town.

The annex to the Mast is great. More candy selection and a wider range of clothing. I always come here after shopping at the Original.

Great little country store! We live an hour and a half away from here and made a day trip over just to see this place. It is definitely worth checking out. Had a ton of old candy, toys, and household items as well as a real old time post office inside! Also had an old schoolhouse around back with clothing inside. Highly recommend if you’re nearby

When you walk in this store, it feels like you just went back in the old days. The huge barrels of candy and the scenic decor really make you feel at home. I have traveled here with my wife on a few occassions and we are always pleased when we leave here. The prices are really good on the candy and you will find something good for the whole family. I would highly recommend making a stop by here if you are ever in the area.

Unique candy experience! Whenever we visit we give the kids a set amount of money and let them loose. It’s a kid’s wonder world! They love it! 😍There’s also lots of other great buys, including clothing, outdoor gear and old fashioned sodas!

This annex has mainly candy and outerwear. The general store down the street carries everything else. This store had lots of candy to choose from! They had some candy that is harder to find and less common, like black licorice candy and candy jewelry. They also had everyday favorites like M & M's and Snickers! Definitely a fun place to shop!

This is a great place to visit with your family on your trip to the mountains! There was something for everyone and even though there was a lot of people, the store didn’t lose it’s charm.

From classic glass soda pop bottles to cookware and puzzles for the kids, the store seems to have a little bit of everything and did not disappoint. This place is a gem and worth the trip!

Absolutely love visiting the Mast General Store Annex. They have a great selection of clothing and accessories. We can’t forget to mention all the candy and canned goodies they have. It’s the perfect place to shop for yourself and find a special gift for someone. We love visiting and just enjoying the sights outside the store and the wonderful things inside the store.

This is a great Mast location. It has the typical excellent selection of candy, clothes, camping equipment, outdoor gear, and more in a historic and rustic site. Plus the community park etc. adds to the scene.

A definite must visit when in the Valle Crucis area for anyone interested in some unique wares and a superb shopping experience.

Totally worth the drive. Incredible turn of the century store with a hip country vibe. Quality clothes, wares and candy and even a functioning post office. A North Carolina standard of mercantile excellence in Sugar Grove.

Our group of five (3 adults & two well behaved dogs) enjoyed our visit to Mast General Store Annex. Plenty of souvenirs for friends and family. Custom nice tees, to hoodies that are quite unusual. The large candy section is not to be missed. Handicapped / wheelchair friendly, dog friendly, and helpful and great employees !!

The store associates are warm and welcoming. The store is so unique! Has top notch clothing and shoes. It is like stepping back in time with so many brands I remember from my childhood. Don't miss the opportunity to visit a Mast General Store!

Really cool old store, with about everything you could need. I liked this original location much better than the Boone store. This location had actual old stuff in it to look at, and not just candy and overpriced named brand shirts.

A very unique shopping experience...they have everything. Great shoe, clothing and knife selection, not to mention every candy you can think of.

Busy place next to a quiet creek. Lots of clothing and treats. They carry LLBean and plus size clothing for women. Found lots of treasures.

I loved visiting here when my son was younger; the barrels upon barrels of candy treats was paradise to him. A bit pricey, but you're paying for the experience. Quality clothing, with quality pricing. Upstairs has camping, hiking, and fishing equipment. Finally, once can't visit the Annex and not get some ice cream while sitting on the bank of Dutch Creek.

Always a nice place to stop! They're one of the few places in town that carries the Blenheim hot ginger ale (one of my favorites) & I often stop for a drink & some candy if I pass by during the week. The staff is kind & helpful & I've never had a bad experience. The store feels a little small & can get crowded on the weekends or during peak tourist seasons but it's worth stopping in to see the historic building!
