My kids went to online school through TOPS for 5th grade and 10th grade during the pandemic/social distancing time. They’re now back in regular public schools and we’re on track/didn’t fall behind in their studies. It’s a great school system and they have a challenging/engaging curriculum. The only thing I think they could improve on is adding more Gifted/Talented meeting times and more activities for those students in elementary. The high school program should add more social activities for kids now that there isn’t as much of a need to practice isolation/social distancing. They may have already done that in the past year. The online high school program prepared my oldest child well for college and his classes that are now somewhat of a hybrid of meeting in class and online / submitting work through an online portal. I’m glad that I enrolled my kids in TOPS.

Being apart of the k12 family is a unique and privilege experience not only did it help our son to excel in all subjects but it has also been a learning experience for me and my husband when we first started 3 years ago I wasn’t so sure I would be what my son needed as a learning coach but I learned just as much as our son did the information that parents need is available to be a very successful learning coach I wouldn’t do anything different k12 has turned out to be part of our everyday life thanks k12

Pros:
Great Teachers, Amazing Curriculum, Online format does not take away from the ability of students to socialize with each other, No bullying, Students and teachers are respectful of each other. Due dates for assignments are very flexible.

Cons:
Work Load is almost unbearable. There are at least 1 if not more homework for each class every single day. Some of the teachers just can't teach, and it's hard to get a hold of teachers fast.

No contact or delayed contact through school year. Now that I need my daughter's records for a new school, that starts in three more business days, I can't get anyone on the phone, through Facebook, through email, or anything to call me back. All I can get on the phone is an enrollment counselor, who doesn't have access to student records. (I might add that I'm locked out of school email and all past info since she's no longer enrolled.)

Run, run, run! Very little direction, unorganized and our home room teacher (although very friendly) provided inaccurate information and as a result, when my daughter transferred back into the public school system, she took two courses for an entire semester and received NO CREDIT. Very poor communication and untimely with getting back to you on questions (unless you are a new enrollment). I've left multiple messages in an attempt to resolve issues and the only way to get through to a person is to pretend you are a new enrollment. There are much better home school online options out there. An absolute disappointment.

Don't expect a call back or an email right away if any. I've been waiting on my son's withdraw confirmation and I submitted the forms already and nothing has been done. I just get the voice mail which I never receive a call back. It's very frustrating how this school is, biggest mistake was enrolling my son here. I do not recommend this school at all.

I hate being a student at this school(I'm in high school). There is 0 communication between the teachers/counselors and the students/parents. They assign way too much work, and most of it is useless busy work. I usually spend about 13+ hours a DAY on work. I would never recommend this school to anyone, and there are much better options for homeschooling.
