Hermantown Transmission & Exhaust

My muffler was broken and I needed it welded it back together. I told Brian my problem and I called Monday 10-4-21 and he told me to bring it in on Tuesday 10-5-21 and I thought my car would be there for day or so but Brian got it and his boys got it all ready that same day. Only took an hour or two. Best service I have ever received! I got recommendations to come here by 3 people. I am glad I did! Great prices too. The owner (Brian) has a pet pig too (hammy) and I enjoyed his company. Overall great experience here! I am glad to give my money to this company. Brian is the most nicest guys and handles his customers with loyalty. He called me after I picked up my car and checked if my car was up to my standards.

Kind and timely repairs. We unfortunately had issues under their warranty but they made the necessary repairs again and got it back to us.

So glad I called them. 2013 F-150 with a bad lead frame. Had my truck at the Duluth stealership for 2 weeks only to find out many thousands of these lead frames are on back order across the country. No ETA on the part that was quoted as being $1300 plus labor. They estimated 6 to 9 months One call to Hermantown Transmission and within 5 minutes they found the part in Texas, had it shipped to Duluth and fixed my truck for a total cost of $800 within five days. Thank you guys.

Brought my car in for an exhaust issue. Speedy service, gracious staff that topped off my oil (it was nearly empty—whoops!) and kindly let me know the damage that can be wreaked on a car with no oil. I am 36 and I know this and I am embarrassed it was neglected long enough to be in the state it was—but these kind humans didn’t lecture or shame. Just treated me like a human. Thank you! An all around great, albeit brief, experience. And you can no longer hear me coming from a mile away. The car is so quiet it sounds (and feels) like an electric car. We brought our SUV in for what we thought was a transmission issue. After investigating, the guys found that it was actually a software issue that needed to be updated. They sent us to the dealership where we were able to get this fixed and back on the road. All I can say is how amazed I am by how honest and knowledgeable the guys at Hermantown Transmission are. Any future repairs or upkeep, we will be bringing our vehicles back to them. Amazing customer service and integrity!

Over the past 20 years I have had three or four vehicles that I have taken to Hermantown transmission for various issues and without fail they have always been very communicative, straightforward and easily explained what the issue is and always took care of the problem in a very timely manner. With one vehicle of mine after having it transmission replaced an issue arose and it ended up being something they had not seen before and they were very honest with that and the then took care of the issue and we're so overwhelmingly fair with me on everything that there is not a chance I will ever take a vehicle of mine anywhere else because whether it was when their father was running the business or now his sons .. the work and as well customer service is far beyond any expectations I ever have and as well I have referred many people there over the years and I've never heard anything even remotely negative. It is a great business run by great people and they are consistent in that. You can't replace good customer service with something else oh, I put a tremendous value on customer service and everything it entails and Bryan and Brad at Hermantown transmission are outstanding and carry on the family business with the same work ethic and integrity their father had when he was running it.

Highly recommend! I called Tuesday afternoon, they got my vehicle in Wednesday morning & were done within a few hours. Much cheaper than service shop at the dealership. Quick, easy, and job well done.

The best experience you could hope for even with the diagnosis I knew was coming. The main guy I dealt with over phone and at the front office was a straight shooter, nice, and super helpful/knowledgeable.

We had a Jeep that needed a transmission. Brian gave us a fixed cost to replace it. He kept his word even when it was way more difficult than anticipated. He also checked it out two times after, at no charge, to make sure things were right.

They have taken a look at my truck for various issues and have always made time to look at it within one day, provided updates and have done phenomenal work for much less than I expected to pay. They have terrific customer service and have always been trustworthy. I recommend them over and over to people I know.

Hermantown Transmission takes care of all of our Loyear business vehicles and we couldn't be more pleased with their service. They give an honest estimate and have fair prices. They are very quick with our repairs and will often surprise me with lower bills than expected, when the repair turns out to be something minor. I recommend them to everyone.

Honest and Trustworthy!!! In my two days in dealing with Hermantown Transmission, I found them to be great people. I was having a transmission issue. I was hoping that it wasn't going to need a total rebuild. I had done my research online and was hoping for a lesser diagnosis. I had called three other places before calling Hermantown Transmission and had been told many different things, most of them not too friendly. When I called HT they were willing to listen to my thoughts and give me their experience over the phone. They then said to bring it in for a free diagnostic to see what I was facing. I brought my truck in. They drove it and called back saying they would need to get it up on the lift to take a look and that couldn't be done until the next day. They also let me know that sometimes they have to pull the pan out and take a look to know if it is an internal problem or a valve that has gone out. They would know for sure if they pulled the pan and the cost would be $50-60 bucks. That was fine with me. The next day I got a call. They got the car up on the lift. Just by looking at the pan and not taking it off, he knew that it wasn't just a blown valve. It had to do with the type of transmission that my truck had. So wait a minute! I gave you permission to charge me $50-60 bucks to take this pan off and you are calling me before you even do anything because you know to get it fixed is going to be around $2000 and you want to save me the $50 bucks if I don't want to fix it??? Yes, that is right! There are some really great guys out there in the auto mechanic world. I just found some! I will be going back to Hermantown Transmission again and I strongly encourage you to call them first if your cars gears are slipping.

In all honesty it looks like a hole in the wall shop, now with that being said they are one of the most honest shops in the area. They still give free estimates which hardly anyone does anymore and give accurate estimates. I've gone here for years and recommend them to anyone looking to have exhaust work or transmission work done.

My muffler rusted off on Thursday and they got me in on Friday. I was worried that I would have to replace the entire thing but they were able to cut the section off that rusted and welded a new piece on. They were super helpful and I would highly recommend them!

The customer service was great here. I had a rear main seal that broke on my toyota avalon and they replaced it for me. A week later it broke again and they found the problem to be much bigger than just the rear main seal. They fixed it all for free since it was still under their service warranty. They were very kind and understanding, I would highly recommend them to anybody.

I pulled in with my muffler half hanging off my car at 2:30 on a Friday before Labor Day. I explained that I needed my car for my job, and they got me in right away for a fair price. So so grateful.
