Black Bear Inn & Suites

We traveled to Gatlinburg for New Years at the end of 2023. We booked on very short notice, and the staff was very friendly and able to answer all of my many questions. The location has wonderful access to the main strip and very easy to get in/out of with your car or truck. The hotel is older but is VERY well cared for, maintained, and clean. It is very noticeable that the staff put in a lot of effort for the place to look well-dressed, clean, and organized. Absolutely recommend!

The rooms were clean, everyone there was very informative about all the questions we had and we got to see a bear in the hotel parking lot between 9 and 10 p.m. every night, from our balcony.🐻 They have a Continental breakfast with eggs, biscuits,gravy, sausage links,potatoes, cereal, muffins, oatmeal,juice, coffee and waffles that were in shape of a bear! If you stay there at least stop by and see the gentleman serving the breakfast, cute as can be and so friendly, he's been with the hotel for 28 years. We didn't get his name but he was a pleasure to talk to in the morning to start your day .

Loved our stay! The staff was awesome -- helpful and friendly and rooms were clean. I provided a 4 star for the rooms only because they are slightly outdated and could use a little touch up, but they were very clean and I would give a 5 star for cleanliness.

The rooms were basic but nice and clean. Shower had great pressure. Close to everything. Breakfast was great with even better service. My only complaint was they only had one elevator working and it took forever to get up or down. There are stairs for those that wanna use them.

I would definitely recommend staying here if traveling to Gatlinburg. This is right on the strip and the view is beautiful. As stated in other reviews, it is a little dated. I did not try the breakfast so I can’t comment on that. The shower curtain rod was loose so the shower curtain would slide towards the middle some and would get water on the floor. One of the elevators was out of service so sometimes the line got backed up. I did not use the pool either. I only get a hotel to sleep and shower so all kinds of amenities aren’t what I’m looking for. All in all, this was a great place to stay and I would stay again. Loved the location this hotel is at, it held a certain conference here on the top floor and it was a blast being here. Great rooms! I'm very pleased with this place. Will be getting a room again in March 2024 for another conference held here.

Very clean with comfortable bedding. Had a room with the fire pit which very soothing to sit around and enjoy with company. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast served there. Will come back.

I have never stayed here before. I came to Gatlinburg for my birthday. The room is clean and has a great view of the city. The people who work here are all kind and extremely helpful. The bed is comfortable. There are some good restaurants within walking distance. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

Staff and breakfast was amazing. The room was clean and beds slept great. Pool needs to be redone as there is no lighting at night and the hot tub is broken. One elevator is broken and it is possible the other will go down soon based on the smell from the stairwell.

We love this hotel. We are never disappointed. We have been staying here since it opened almost 30 years ago. Wonderful staff, clean rooms, free breakfast, nice covered pool
and, an excellent location. Located right at the entrance to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park and also near the on ramp to the bypass if you want to avoid town traffic and head over to Pidgeon Forge. Highly recommend it!

Kimberly and the entire staff delivered exceptional service! I loved the location and the suite!!! I would definitely book with Black Bear Inn and Suites again when I return to TN.

Staff (older gentleman) at front desk was very friendly. But....room was and hotel inside is very outdated and in need of repairs. Very overpriced for what you get. We stayed toward the end of hallway. Hallway always smelled of weed because cleaning staff smoked weed in the stairways outside of hall. The smell of weed would feel up our room. Beds are horrible. They are uncomfortable and you pretty much feel you are going to roll off bed while trying to go to sleep. My back hurts so bad after this stay. Will not ever return.

Room was clean. Definitely needs updates. Service was excellent. Great location.

The rooms were quiet with a nice view (city), and the staff (front desk, breakfast, and cleaning) were all very friendly. The location is fantastic—i could easily walk everywhere along Parkway, but I didn’t have to fight as much traffic on the main road to get in and out of town/the hotel. The one downside was that the hotel Wi-Fi was not always reliable.

Pleasant, close to downtown, walking distance to downtown. Quiet. Could use some updates in rooms, breakfast was delightful but limited. I would stay again. Parking lot was secluded but felt safe. Only real complaint was on Sunday the regular, older man whom was very friendly & helpful went to church- another employee at front desk took his place, he was rude to us about getting more food, plus he started breaking down the breakfast bar 12 until 10. Pool was dated, however It didn't effect me.

I like a firmer bed and loved sleeping on this one. The room was clean and smelled great. The shower was very adequate and I liked the view of the street from our balcony. The pillows were soft. I honestly did not come up with one bad thing about our little getaway weekend. Oh! And so many don't nowadays, but they had a coffee maker, microwave, AND fridge. It was lovely!

We wanted a new place to stay that was on or near the main strip in Gatlinburg. We were really leary about staying here from a lot of the bad reviews. We decided to stay here and give it a chance. It's been a joy staying here. Checking in was easy and they let us check in early. All the staff was very nice. The room was nice and clean. The rooms are on the smaller side and the bathroom is a tad small. We had hot water (plenty reviews I'd read said that was an issue). Plenty of pillows and bed fairly comfortable. We were surprised by the free continental breakfast. Normally that's dried out muffins at most places. Here they have hot food - scrambled eggs, sausage links, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, make your own waffles, plus cereal and pastries! It was very good. The older man- I think Richard- who was dishing out the breakfast was super nice. Parking area felt safe and secure. Nicely located near many restaurants and shops on the strip. We had the room facing the city with a balcony as we're people watchers. Now and then there was vehicle noise in the room but we expected that with it being by the road. The room didn't get 5 stars because it does need to be updated some, the room and hallway carpet needs replaced and we'd love a small table at the sofa. Sofa a bit uncomfortable. We will definitely be coming back to stay.

1st time we have stayed in Gatlinburg. Staff was very friendly and rooms were clean and smelled good. Will definitely be back. Breakfast was fresh and views were great. Convenient to walk to everything. We didn't move our car the whole trip

Wonderful balcony overlooking the Gatlinburg main drag. Breakfast was much better than the typical. Great staff!!
